| Hello everybody, so I was curious what everyone thought of the new VATS system in Fallout 4. Do love it or hate it? I came across a mod that makes VATS like the old games. Freeze, pick your parts, shoot. I personally am not the hugest fan of it, but it's kind of neat. Waiting to set up your shot as your target is moving towards you.
However I will probably be downloading and using this mod http://www.nexusmods.com/fallout4/mods/531/? as I prefer the old system better.
What are your thoughts? |

| The VATS I think I can live with, although I can imagine it'll stress me out a lot. But the "Mass Effect-ish" dialogue wheel is a no-no, luckily I think someone made a mod for that too http://www.nexusmods.com/fallout4/mods/619/?. I don't even own Fallout 4 yet so I haven't tried it out but If it does what it promises I'll be very happy. _________________ |

| @SwedishMudkip That mod works great, although it still needs some work like indicating tone. Good though for not having the GECK yet. @tigerx87 I was going to use the VATS mod but noticed that people were complaining about their games getting wrecked and things bugging out so I decided to wait. Have you had any issues? |

| I really like the new VATS system, you have to prioritise targets and be quite fast about it. I mainly use VATS for crit shots now, which is a necessary thing when dealing with some Legendary enemies. The Mass Effect style interface is really bad tho', I'm glad that mod came out as fast as it did. _________________ "There is no such thing as innocence, only degrees of guilt." https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MgMYikGtZMo - My Youtube Channel |

| I think FO4's VATS slow-mo effect is much better than the full pause of previous games. Makes it feel more urgent/tactical, instead of 'press V, go make some coffee, come back and shoot'.
And let me tell you, VATS in FO4 is even more awesome once you get the perk that lets you shoot through cover. |

| ^ Completely disagree, downloaded Classic VATS immediately after it was released on Nexus. Tactic? Dynamic? This aint Call of Duty. No mole rat will prevent me from taking a coffee break in the middle of a fight! THEY CAN TAKE OUR FREEDOM! BUT THEY CAN NEVER! TAKE! OUR! COFFEEEEEEEEEEEEEE! |

| In my opinion, I really enjoy the new VATS just because it does give you a sense of urgency but I also liked the old VATS as you could really (REALLY) plan your next move to exactly what you want to happen. Either way I enjoy both ways! *Also sorry guys for the long absence I will try to do more than I have been* |

| @Tesvixen I will have to try that with my next perk. I will admit the current vats has grown in me. I think my chief complaint is the enemies that charge at you, it's difficult to get a good shot as you don't have any time. Such as Mirelurks. Elevation doesn't work with them either. |

| I never used VATS for the same reason I never use it now honestly... it's too dependent upon RNG and percentages versus just pointing your gun at something, and shooting it in its dumb face. It was great for Fallout 1 and 2, as they were both Turn-based. Fallout 3/NV had semi-horrible shooting mechanics but they were enough that you could get the job done, however. Fallout 4 is a full-on FPS-type RPG much like how Mass Effect is a 3PS-RPG, so VATS isn't really needed I feel. If I could, I'd put VATS, and Auto-Walk on a "dummy" key that I'll never press... or simply remove their bindings permanently. Bullet Time I'm okay with because you still have control of your character and the like....
....I'm a Psycho-Jet addict. _________________ |

| @Legend - I agree with a lot of what you said, and I'd say that around 90% of the time I do the combat in FO4 like a full-on FPS. I primarily use VATS to get screenshots, or when there's just a ton of enemies... VATS is a good way of IDing which ones to prioritize, IMO. |

| Wasn't planning on using vats as i didn't in the previous games and prefer relying on my own aim but i find myself using it pretty frequently now, mostly because it's the only way to trigger critical hits, which are super useful for killing the legendary bullet sponges faster.
Overall i think it's better then the old vats, going slow-mo instead of a freeze hasn't changed much about how it works but it's more fun to look at, plus you can cancel the overly long camera angles mid kill now which is great. |

| @hitman47101Really? I sometimes notice that a gun I have will take a HUGE chunk out of an enemy versus its normal damage from time-to-time... so I'd be almost positive VATS isn't the only way to trigger them. Some guns even come with a "Critical x4 +x% Faster bar fill rate" perk... Righteous Authority comes to mind... and I'm almost positive it will proc... without VATS. If by some chance I'm actually wrong... can't wait to see that get fixed then by a mod. _________________ |

| Hmm i think the "enchantment" on Righteous Authority changes the critical bar more with each vats hit, the bar doesn't change with non vats hits i know that much.
I hope I'm wrong as I'd like to be able to trigger them in normal combat, don't think a mod to fix it could be made in snip so we might be stuck until the GECK arrives. I like the charge up and storing mechanic but having to use vats more then i would like is annoying.
Edit: From what I'm reading they can only be trigged in vats, sucks but oh well. |

| @Legend Like you said, too much on percentages and that's another thing that bothered me. Sometimes you don't have time to move to get a better firing angle. Just noticed the mod@"pwninronan" mentioned and will keep an eye on that one. Would be nice to do the same effect of VATS but control the aiming. |

Have you had any issues? well yea there are some issues with it but nothing game breaking that i've encounter yet. just some weird graphical glitches. |

| Personally, I really really dig the new VATS system! It's really neat how targets aren't static anymore, giving you all of eternity to decide what to do. Kinda adds a sense of urgency when you're using it, as in, you cant just hit Q and go have a coffee break, take a nap, wash the dishes before deciding which raider to shoot first. Also not sure if you could have done this in previous fallout games (have only played FNV prior to fallout 4), but its pretty neat how you can shoot grenades in the hands of your enemies right before your enemy throws them! Read this on the loading screen and have yet to do this in game.
However, I barely use VATS in FO4 UNLESS there's a truckload of ghouls because ghouls in FO4 creep me the hell out and I just do not like the way they lunge at me T-T. It was VATS central in Hubris Comics. THEY WERE RAINING DOWN FROM THE CEILING |
