| Subject: Let's talk ENBs Sat Aug 08, 2015 1:49 pm | |
| So I only recently have gotten into ENBs after thinking for a while that my computer (a laptop) couldn't handle them at all. Turns out I had never tweaked the enblocal.ini to my graphics card so now I have a whole new side of modding that I have yet to explore! Now that I've had a chance to use them and see how they work firsthand, I'm able to make new observations on all of the screenshots that I come across. First thing I've noticed is that it seems a lot of popular fallout (particularly NV) ENBs used for screens all over the Internet are extremely over saturated/washed out to hell, turning everything into a mess of bright tannish textures (which seems to defeat the purpose of even using an ENB) where you can barely tell the difference between a red and a brown. This stands in contrast with a lot of the Skyrim ENBs I've seen that appear to do a terrific job of making colors stand out. Obviously ENBs are 100% personal preference based, you like what you like, but my question is what do people see in ENBs that are so washed out? Does it enhance the desert wastland of the Mojave for you? Personally I think it makes everything look like a specular map but to each his own. Hopefully this will spawn a nice discussion |

| I tend to agree that's why I'm using Wanderer's ENB right now. I liked your screenshots in the other thread, your ENB configuration is great. |

| Thanks! It's pretty much stock Dynamo but I made a few minor changes so it wasn't so dark. I like the look of Wanderers ENB, I'll have to try it out.
Also serious question: is it possible to use Skyrim presets in fallout if you don't overwrite any of the fallout specific files? |

| Ive dabbled in ENB's for a while now but actually never tweaked my enb ini either. Now you have me curious as to how and what I can do to make it work lol. _________________ Great men are forged in fire. It is the privilege of lesser men to light the flame.

| Haha I'm not too familiar with tweaking yet, I just press random stuff until it comes out looking better.
While we're on the topic, what are your guys' favorite ENBs that may have flown a little under the radar? (As in not the top page of the Nexus ENB section) |

| People(Such as I) like the gritty, "wasteland", and they want to make their game beautiful without sacrificing their barren, deadly atmosphere. |

| I use Old World enb and I like the nights a lot. I think it's a very interesting enb, but I also like 47 enb the sequel because of its weather. _________________ Love DJ Khaled, Always. The DJ Khaled Documentary

Very valid point, I can totally understand that. Are there any ENBs you would recommend that really compliment that kind of aesthetic? |

| I would only use an ENB if i could get a stable 120FPS along with all the texture packs, but that's not a reality as of right now. I tried the RealVision ENB for skyrim once with the GTX 660 2GB i had back then and my fps was literally below 15FPS and that was all wihtout any Tex packs whatsoever. Maybe i did something wrong or i did not have enough VRAM but that changed my look on ENB's a bit. Thankfully, it's much easier to run ENB's in F:NV and FO3 thank god for that. |

| I dunno if these class as under the radar, but i know they not the highest top rated ENB's but for Fallout NV i cant seem to get enough of Overgrowth, for Skyrim im in love with Insomnia- Extreme ENB, makes some beastly dark screenshots, im way too scared to tweek the ini files il be honest, im not that experienced with them yet im also new to the ENB thing myself, had a pretty old Advent pc for a while so always assumed it couldnt handle it, then recently saved up to build a new rig, and i cant ever picture me going back to non ENB play throughs ever again 0.0 |

Isn't 120fps game breaking? I've heard a high fps like that screws up the Havok physics something fierce. Honestly I usually play with the effects turned off but if I find myself in a screenshotable moment I'll "tfc 1" then activate the enb effects. I wish my comp could handle playing with it all the time though. |

| I've experienced that problem myself too many times in the intro sequence of Skyrim. Fallout 3 and NV does not seem to suffer from a high framerate though but since i always play FNV capped at 30FPS it doesn't matter much what the refresh rate of the monitor is to me. Excluding the troubled intro sequence of Skyrim, i've never had any serious problems with 120FPS. |
