I think this too and i hate that F3 didn´t get the same love from the modder like New Vegas.

Well in my opinion FALLOUT 3 is 2000x better just because it has better feel of apocaliptic world and it was not rushed like NV was, plus NV should be an DLC as it is exactly the same with just couple adjustments that moders come up with such as iron sights weapon attachemnts etc. and it has different story line and world map.

Dont get me wrong but Fallout NV its a awesome game, I still play it form time to time, I loved it once I first played it and still love it to the very day maby cos I just love whole Fallout series people say that Fallout BOS for consoles is Crap, I love it , but Fallout 3 is still my top Game of all times.

Fallout 3 had a great Overworld to explore it was all designed very well and it set-up the framework for the next Fallout game. Story was like felt like a summer blockbuster movie not the best, not very original but a joy to play through.

New Vegas had a wonderful story deeper then FO3's, interesting NPCs, In-depth Companions but lacked an interesting over-world to explore compared to FO3.

I prefer NV because all of the extra cool stuff added by obsidian, but it is lacking in whats in the world, Fallout 3 has it beat it quest/locations in terms of that kind of content. But NV has 3 beat with all the extra perks, some fun like wild wastelander, and easter eggs, different ammo types, weapon mods, factions, companions, and story endings.

Fallout 3 focuses on survival whereas New Vegas focuses on civilization. But I prefer Fallout 3 since it has personal issues such as finding your father, etc.

I like fallout 3's map and side quests better but New Vegas over all has a better story and DLCs, my favorite being Dead Money. New Vegas also has a better weapons and combat mechanics. New Vegas is also better for and easier to... MOD! So I would say Fallout New Vegas. Now over all I love them both equal but this forum is to make a choice so I wouldn't say that... That would make my comment go off topic.

Fallout 3 has the superior world. Not just in design either, in FO3 the characters actually have proper schedules, they interact with each other as well as you.

Of course the story in FNV and the creepy atmosphere creating by terminal entries and notes etc in certain vaults are much better. Then you get the plethora of mechanics improvements in vegas and the (overall) better vocie acting and you have a tough call to make.

Thankfully however it's not a call I have to make at all. Since I run TTW and get both games as one! Score.

Fallout 3, the story line was great I think I've finished it 10+ times.
Also the whole Fallout 3 world was just a great experience overall, I think that playing it for the 10th time I still found some new stuff. The dlc's were great and really fun and places like Paradise Falls really felt how they should feel.
FNV has got some great features like iron sight and weapon mods but the world feels, I don't know, too small and the story isn't really that interesting. I have never finished FNV in the years I play it..
Thank god for TTW because now I can play Fallout 3 with all the awesome FNV features + all those kick-ass mods!

Personally, I think Fallout 3 is superior vanilla game wise. Fallout New Vegas has it beat with mods I think. Fallout 3 just had a wasteland feel to it, there was never a big place with all the lights turned on like in New Vegas for example they had that and it just float my boat very well.

When New Vegas was first released, I definitely would have said I preferred FO3 over it. The map, atmosphere, mods and DLC for FO3 made it feel much more epic by comparison. Now that so much time has passed, I think in some ways I enjoy NV more. I grew to dislike the linear 'go find dad...now he's dead...join the Brotherhood and fight the Enclave' main story in FO3. The more I played it, the less I liked it. Where NV has FO3 beaten for my personal favorite is simply 1 word...choice. I can choose to join forces with the NCR, Legion or Mr. House...I can choose to aid the Powder Gangers or help the folks in Goodsprings etc...and that ability makes it a deeper game for me. There just seemed to be more head scratching 'should I do this or that' choices in NV than in FO3...which makes it a better RPG IMHO.

Don't get me wrong, I still think both games are awesome. New Vegas edges out FO3 by a very slim margin in terms of role-playing depth.

I liked FO3 atmosphere: the ruined city was awesome, super mutants roaming its streets and killing everyone on sight, Rivet City, etc...

But I completely dislike FO3 plot: Enclave are generic "bad guyz", BoS are generic "gud guyz", father dying like an idiot... This is why I think devs did better job at creating NV plot: there are no "good" or "bad" factions. Yes, the Legions looks bad during the first hours of game, however later you will notice that NCR is a corrupt machine and isn't great either...

So my choices are:

Base game: NV
DLC: F3 (Point Lookout <3)

I like Fallout New Vegas more than Fallout 3.
Both games are great, but I think I'm just used to New Vegas more. Plus I like the Casino's and gambling aspect. It's a close call between the two.

Fallout 3 for sure, the thing i love most about Fallout 3 is the atmosphere it creates when you play it. I felt more connected when doing quests in F3 than NV. I still love NV but i like Fallout 3 more to the point where i dont even mod it, i like it just the way it is. Its honestly a gem of a game in my opinion.

My main problem with both FO3 and FNV is that combat, the thing that fills out considerable part of my game, isn't refined and smooth as it is for example in Halo CE. VATS was mechanic that was compensating for this, but for me it was immersion breaking so I dropped it after my 1st playtrough. FNV had only combat improvements in form of ironsights and weapon mods, but this didn't do much for me.
For me FO3 surpasses FNV in terms of atmosphere, aesthetics and story.

I preferred Fallout 3 for its survival aspect and the chaos happening in the wasteland. New Vegas focused on society rebuilding and the forces allying to take control of the area. Although New Vegas had better mechanics for combat, etc, Fallout 3 had a pretty good plot line.

UGH Why do I have to choose!

I would have to say Fallout New Vegas though because of the Hardcore Mode, armor and weapons, the way the main questline played out, and the DLC.

Vegas because the updated features such as hardcore mode, fractions, and companion questlines.
I also like the voice actors better in New Vegas
You cant go wrong with Danny Trejo, Matthew Perry, Felica Day, and Zachary Levi to name a few

New vegas for me, it's more in the line of the original fallouts, the story is more in depth, it features complex political plots, shades-of-grey choices on the moral plan, the writing is more refined ,the characters have a "stronger taste" , and all the tributes & clever references scattered around the world, the quests named after classic songs, the mark morgan FO1 OST reused, makes it a better cultural & intelligent experience, pleasantly closer to what was FO2. The guys @Obsidian have always been good at this.

Now even tho FO3 has a more blockbuster-ish type , well written solid scenario, It lacked depth, morale is either goody two shoes, or evil mofo    and I must admit, some parts were a bit too bombastic for me.. Blazin' guns all over the place while escorting a giant robot is not what I expect from a fallout game.

FO3 has one strong point, the world design, it's fantastic, especially urban areas. New vegas world design is LAME in comparison.

That is such a hard Choice!!

because for the longest time i didn't like new vegas cause of the desert landscape
but then i started using tale of two wastelands but i love both once more such a hard choice
much like the which halo game is your favorite post somebody put up there

New Vegas by far and I disagree on the world design being inferior. Maybe in some parts it was too desolate or there was a lack of interesting interiors but there's no way I'd ever prefer what Fallout 3 offers compared to the Strip or Freeside.

FO3 always felt dead to me, maybe that was what they were going for but it has been 200 years since the bombs. You can't expect that few settlements in that amount of time, regardless, of what has been happening, people could've made a lot more stuff. In short I felt like FO3 was a lot of land with a whole lot of nothing to see, never felt that way about New Vegas though.
