Wow, I was honestly expecting a Fallout 3 Remaster. This looks more like a side spinoff in the vein of New Vegas. I'm very excited.

Wait Kotaku is saying this could be an Online Game? Like ESO?

Seeing as it opened 20 years after the war, there's gonna be no Brotherhood (assuming it's set on the East Coast due to the trailer's song) so it's going to be a completely new direction considering no proper factions or settlements will have formed.

However, there is still one major faction - The Enclave! This is a great opportunity for Bethesda to represent the full might and terror of the Enclave.

my hope is on a prequel, i would be devestated is it was an MMO like ESO.
Think about it, a fresh wasteland, no factions, everyone coming to term with the situation. The enclave would really be the only faction, the brotherhood have not even started properly (i think) yet, or at least has not spread far

Me too but more and more evidence shows that it is highly likely an online game. Plus the journalist on that Kotaku article has been following this for awhile now.

Still no harm in hoping it is a single player game.

Trailer got me a little on the hype train. If my memory of FO3 is correct, we do get to see Vault 76 on the map in the Citadel and if you did explore the alien ship in Mothership Zeta - 76 was also mentioned. If the trailer is indeed in-game then the style would be the same as FO4 - somehow it makes me feel that this spin-off would rely heavily on the Settlement Workshop.

Looks and sounds like a prequel, if it's near the capital wasteland we can probably meet ghouls that were present in Fallout 3 as well

Things I noticed:
We can see the date on the pip boy is the 27th of October 2102
The pip boy also seems to be similar to the pip boy from Fallout 1 and 2
There is a backpack on the bed! Did they finally add then to the game?
An interesting poster marking 1776-2076 on the wall. Any ideas on the relevance of this?
A colour TV. Correct me if I'm wrong but I believe we've never seen a colour TV in Fallout before.
Lots of awards in a display case for things such as "Outstanding achievement"
A terminal with some sort of party invitation on it.
A party seems to be going on, probably related to the huge "Reclamation Day" poster on the wall.
There's a small football pitch in the atrium.
We finally see one guy. Other than him though the vault seems rather empty.

If this is going to be a prequel, I speculate that Vault 76 would be similar to Vault City/Vault 8.

Hopefully they aren't led by an asshole like Lynette.

Glad the number is in reference to a vault. Was terrified they were gonna set the game in 2076 or something. I personally hate Bethesda's take on the pre-war setting, so yeah, no thanks.

My guess that they were gonna reuse Fallout 4 assets seems to be true though, judging by the pre-rendered appearance of the video.

My guess...? They're gonna set the game east coast and fill it with Fallout goodies that have no right to be there but will be there anyway. I'm talkin' Super Mutants, Enclave armour from Fallout 3, ghouls, Deathclaws (even though that would make ZERO sense), the Institute will be involved somehow, Brotherhood of Steel armour (the t-45), maybe even the t-60 even though that wouldn't make sense either. Everything they know the fans like.

Sorry for being cynical. Usually I try to keep my anti-Bethesda feelings to myself but I can't help feeling this way when everything they do feels so predictable.

I am willing to perk my head up if they do something different though.

A quick google search shows that it has coal and tourist industry.

When I saw the announcement this morning, something did not seem right. Maybe I'm just more cautious because it hasn't been that long since Fallout 4 was released. It just seems too soon for a new Fallout title, I think that's why everyone is expecting it to be something completely different from a regular Fallout game. I'm skeptical for sure. I was expecting a Fallout 3 remaster and to be honest would've been more satisfied with that because at least I would've known what I was getting. The uncertainty and distrust for developers these days is what's ruining the hype for everyone.
