| So, I just lost good 3 hours worth of game time. All of a sudden, when I try to load my games, all the newer save files are gone, invisible, and the latest save file remaining is from 3 hours before hand. I was more than a little upset about this, not only did I get a good portion of the main quest done in this time, I also explored as well, found a few neat guns, ect. My .bak file was also from around that time, before you ask, so my game progress is gone forever
The kicker here is that this is the SECOND time this happened today. Fortunately, the first time around only took me back around half an hour or so before I realized what was going on, and the last save was in a convenient save spot
Now, here is what I do, and I figure that's the problem: I manually save every chance I get, because I got a little paranoid about CTDs, you can see the other thread on here about why that is. So, in a single game session, I can end up with about 200 game saves or more, before I quit or CTD(Game is surprisingly stable, crash wise, I have bigger problems with scripting errors and save files now). I know that's not the most convenient, or efficient, way to play, and I figure that this is what's causing the game to "Forget" about my latest save files, since I have so many of them. I don't know how gamebryo handles this, but I noticed you can have up to 1000 manual saves in game, so I didn't think this would be an issue
So, my question to you is this: How do you handle saved games? I know a lot of people heavily mod the game here, so we are in the same boat. Is there any specific mod/script you use that auto saves or saves more efficiently(With less of a chance of corruption), or do you simply keep fewer manual saves and quick save/load when needed?

Edit: So, I just found something interesting. It seems that one of my later save files(Pic Above) has several entries, rather than just two(FOS and NVSE). Moreover, all but one of them have no data on them. That one save file also happens to be my latest save file I can load
So, what I am getting from this is that having too many saved game slots at once tends to corrupt the rest, since that never happened to me on other playthrus where I had way less save files at once(Altho I heard that saving in one save slot constantly ruins game performance). That, or that one particular save file corrupted the rest, and I just didn't notice it(Didn't need to load or quickload since I got to andale). Does anyone here have any experience with this sort of thing, this is the first time in 10 years this is happening to me _________________ http://z0r.de/?id=293

| @Sonichu_fanboy I can see where your save problem is = most of your files are *.temp files and are empty so not usable, that is not good, because probably corrupted files. The game is trying to make saves as commanded, but can not. • To see if it comes from mods, do a selective loading FIRST, disable ALL your mods, (untick them from launcher) and try to play and save. If it doesn't work, do it with a new game. Test it enough time, then try to increase the loading mods until you encounter the problem again. You may have some conflicting mods / scripts • Are all your mods 100% compatible with TTW ? • You may use CASM • Use LOOT if not already been done, (see in my sig FNV) and also other tips are interresting to stabilize your game >> 7/// Stabilizing the game / utilities• Have you made some changes to your inis ? This can have bad results, you may right-click on the game in your steam account, select properties and verify the integrity of the cache to repair eventual corrupted files. Make a save of your *.inis first... Then use and let the vanilla launcher to determine the best settings for your computer. • Dont not use autosave or quick save (make sure autosave are OFF) + Each time you save manually save as a new save every time (do not overwrite) + Save manually often and before anything important in game + Make a save before you begin a quest + Get rid of corrupted saves + before stopping playing, each cession do a save inside (not outside). • Have you made some Ugrid to load changes ? • Have you uninstalled scripted mods at midgame ? If FNV is like Skyrim, scripts may stay in your savegame and call for an esp/esm that is not loaded anymore..not sure about that but hey. Good luck |

| Thanks, I will try those. Autosave is very convenient for me, so I would rather not turn it off
For now, the only thing I did was install a mod that auto saves the game every few minutes, kinda like in fallout 4, and back up my game saves after every game session, in case it happens again. Oh, and I am limiting my game save slots to 10-15, like I have for the last 10 years, plus the 3 for the mod I just mentioned, but if something screwy starts happening with the saves again, I will definitely not hesitate to try your suggestions _________________ http://z0r.de/?id=293
