I wonder what is everyone's preferred form of combat in Fallout 4. I personally choose laser weapons, specifically the laser guns because I enjoy vaporizing people with pew pew lasers.

Plasma throwers all the way bro, burn them to a green slimy hell! Deathclaw? Plasma thrower. Institute? Plasma thrower. Nate? Plasma thrower. That group of settlers that annoys you? Plasma thrower.

Kind of depends on what mood i am feeling. I sometimes feel like blowing everything up so i grab a missle launcher or mini nuke. Feel like being sneaky and sniping people from long ass distances. Roll through enemies with an explosive minigun lol. My mood changes on what i want but, those are those most forms of combat i choose to rotate through.

Stealth. I use it (sadly) in every build because it's pretry much a reflex for me to press ctrl.
My favourite fighting style is to be a stealth sniper (w/o vats). I love it to snipe some muties on a hill, hundred meters away.
Syringer is a pretty cool weapon, too, especially if ya have a mod to get more and better (scaling) ammo for it.

RNJesus gave me an Explosive Mini-gun, so now i wander the wasteland in power armor destroying everything in one burst even on survival. So my play style consists of me being a walking A-10 Warthog

I personally run round with pistols go around in power armor with nuclear phycist perk

Idk, i think it really depends on my mood and/or the type of enemy/situation i have to face with.

Oh, my baseball bat with +50% damage against limbs of course.

I usually base the weapons I use on the play through im on. I used stealth and long range rifles when doing my railroad play through, and mostly energy weapons and tank mode on my brotherhood play through.

Walking Cane, teach minors to ungrateful kids since 400 years ago.

Pretty much in every game where I can have multiple weapons I go with the following standards:

Sniper Rifle (Long Rage)
Machine Gun/Shotgun (Medium Range)
Melee (Close Range or when they're not even worth the bullets)
Sidearm (for when you need the extra weapon just incase)

Even as a walking tank I go back to that same approach.

But when I have enough ammo and find a Mini Nuke Launcher or just a grenade launcher...

I like stealth with sniper rifles or even closer with silenced pistols. I'm horrible at stealth too, but it's fairly easy in games like Fallout. What was that game with Sam Fisher? You know the one. I was so bad at it because it depended solely on stealth and I just wanted to go guns blazing.

I try to go stealth and pick off as many enemies as possible before being detected. If I do get detected then its all guns blazing with explosions . Two shot automatic laser rifle is the way to go here. PEW PEW!

I no longer play the game, but when I did I greatly enjoyed using Power Armor + fully upgraded pistol/related perks. I would only walk in combat (not run) and methodically gunned stuff down... kind of had a Robocop vibe going on.

I usually start ranged using a explosive modified weapon like my combat rifle and then I'll switch to mid range with me explosive modified, beam splitted, laser rifle. That thing kills anything in seconds, including myself in fully upgraded X0-1 if I'm not careful.

For close range and close quarters I usually use my two shot assault "water cooled" rifle.

Other Than using a mini-gun and Power Armor, I sometimes take Strong with me run only Melee And Raider Armor, Role playing as a Psychotic drug Fueled Raider. And because of this I've had some of My Best Moments.
