Judging by the utter lack of male hair mods fallout3 and NV have to offer, i figured it was a good idea to port some skyrim mods into fallout (while giving credits of course)

porting was no problem at all, i'm just stuck at the colourable aspect of the hair.
i enabled "has vertex colors" in nifskope.
but i just don't understand the "_hl.dds"
I tried saving it to DXT3 and fiddling with photoshop to no avail

could anyone that understands help out?

just look at that fancy haircut though, that hair alone just mad fallout a hundred times better, it would be a shame if i didn't get it to work.

Make sure the hair doesn't have 'fixed color' checked in GECK, that the hair_hl texture has a proper alpha channel and that you're generating mipmaps when saving it.

And as a general heads up, if you plan on releasing/sharing this, make sure you get the permission of the original author first.

I agree that there ain't much hair mods for men. Hope that this gets done with proper permissions & all. Encountered same problem when making tweaks in Skyrim (numenume hairstyles). Tips by tesvixen is sound. Hope that a wig mod is in the offing as well.
