I really don't like how Todd Howard's response more or less admits they change things to accommodate the shooter fans who can't deal with RPG stats and that crits are shaping up to become JRPG style QTE's. The more I read the more I see the franchise becoming a relocated Mass Effect instead of Fallout. I hope I'm proven wrong or it may likely be the last Bethesda product I buy.

They are simplifying the roleplay system to please all those lazy-to-think Mass Effect players who captured the whole game market and prefer to "Press X to romance" instead of reading and thinking, because people became too lazy to even perform their simpliest functions. I just can't imagine a Bethesda game which won't let me create my own story and think for my character. It's just more than dumb, but mods can save us. |

The world is safe as long as that doesn't work in real life. Otherwise, they might reproduce. Not sure how to even articulate this... I'd rather buy a game and support a company that produces something a bit closer to what I want as opposed to something close enough to be made into what I want. That probably sounds greedy and selfish, but if I'm going to pay for the service I'd prefer to order something off the menu at a restaurant and have it be right. If I or someone else needs to work on or modify it, I don't feel I should be paying restaurant prices. Maybe I'm just an old dog refusing to learn new tricks. |

| @Brigand231Pretty fair, but Bethesda games were always more like a land plot to me which I would use the way I want. I would find it terrible to live on the naked ground (even with a good environment), but with a nice and beautiful cottage that I've built on it - I'd love this place. These guys just need to avoid making any limitations to their games or they will be definitely doomed, sooner or later. |

| I'm excited for Fallout 4 but I feel they have completely ruined the dialogue system. I couldn't care less about the voice protagonist, but the new Mass Effect system is incredibly bad. Now why they decided to ruin it, I don't know. Probably to dumb down for a wider audience, not like it actually needed to be. I'm pretty sure the majority of people who are going to buy the game will actually know how read, rendering the new system completely pointless. Like others have said, if they continue this trend over to The Elder Scrolls I will not buy it. Since Fallout 4 isn't out yet I have yet to experience it properly. If I don't like it though, I'm not going to buy another one of their games that's for sure.
Rant over on the dialogue system. As for the article, after further inspection of it, all signs lead to the date being a typo. I still strongly believe that game will start when it does in the presentation, or at least on the same day. |

As a new player who has only played Fallout New Vegas, I probably don't have the qualification to answer this but I respectfully disagree lol. I don't think that one aspect of a game should ruin a game for anyone. Also, the dialogue for Mass Effect offers surprising depth even though it offers only 4 options. You might just be surprised with the dialogue system, I really think that the Fallout Franchise is a great game supported by a great community and not buying it just because of one aspect seems like a waste. |

| As for the date of the game starting in 2075, I think we're going to see a lot more of the old world than we think. It might act similarly to Fallout 3 where we start off a few years before 2277 and the game just fast forwards a couple years. Except in this instance, the player is starting two years before the bombs fell. MrMattyPlays talks a lot about this in one of his videos. This theory isn't really consistent with the demo, but it's still an idea. _________________ |

| @Bmiasada Don't get me wrong I'm still gonna get it, I just hate this new system. Why couldn't they just show us exactly what we are going to say, why must I pick from four options that only have three words to summarize what I'm about to say? I don't understand why they decided to do this, there was no reason. Why fix something that isn't broken comes to mind? Now they have just alienated the original fans and sold out for new ones. I honestly don't believe this was Todd's idea, but someone higher up in Bethesda. |

| I am not normally one to discuss games before they are out like this but here we go. I don't think Bethesda is ditching the lore and in depth RPG style like everyone is saying. I believe they are just simplifying the way it is presented. I have played fallout since it's inception and honestly there is never really more than four different things to say to some. If you really go back and think through every dialogue you had with a character you just progressed through there dialogue til it was exhausted. I am sure that the in depth dialogue will still be there. _________________ 2/121st Light-foot KCCO! |

The problem isn't too much the 4 options, but the short summaries you have to pick instead of the whole line. |

| The problem with this simplification is that it's doing it by introducing voice acting for the PC aswell. With a voiced PC, it costs money to record lines so they probably wont have nearly as many different and in depth options for dialogue. I highly doubt that they've kept low intelligence dialogue, which is a shame because that was hilarious. _________________ Intel Core i7 6700k - 4.4GHz ASUS Z170 gaming pro motherboard Corsair Vengeance 16GB 3000MHZ DDR4 RAM EVGA GTX 980 Classified 1.5GHz OC Samsung 840 pro 120gb SSD Samsung 840 EVO 500gb SSD Seagate 1tb HDD Corsair RM850 PSU 2x ASUS 24" 1080p monitor 1x DELL 27" 1440p monitor

I'll try to shift my perspective to looking at is buying a creation kit with a nice Fallout adventure as a preloaded campaign. |

I do not have a problem with a voiced PC, but when they summarize what my character is going to say, and he ends up twisting in a way I did not want, it can be a little... irritating. A mod to display more of the verbal dialogue in the talk menu then the few words could be a fairly great mod. |

| I think I saw or read on yt/internet that depending on the type of gender you are. Some scenes could be different. I think that's pretty cool that way if you start the game over you can choose the opposite gender and see which scenes were different. Instead of having everything the same like in FO3 and NV _________________ "If you cannot do great things, do small things in a great way."

I am going into this with a lot of optimism I know. I believe that Bethesda wouldn't betray the fans of Fallout who are looking for the features we are all talking about. _________________ 2/121st Light-foot KCCO! |
