With Fallout 4 on the horizon, I thought I ask you guys a question. Which Fallout game do you prefer and why?

FNV. It's much more stable (sometimes) than FO3. I do agree that FO3 has better mods though. But i don't know it's map at all

Any chance for you to include a 'both' option? I love them equally!

I feel as if this could become a somewhat divisive topic; people are almost as opinionated about this as they are with the classics vs the HD games.

I personally prefer Fallout 3. The game felt tighter with more details packed into the surroundings than New Vegas. I felt more overall connected to my character and the story.
New Vegas had significantly better mechanics and a more stable engine behind it. Likewise I liked that it included a lot of bits that were cut from the original Fallout 3. It just felt a little too empty to me.

No problem!  Consider me a write in! LOL  But I do love both games.  If I want a seedier side to life I play FO3, if I want a more friendship type side I play FNV.  They are both awesome.  

I prefer Fallout 3 hands down, but I appreciate the care that went into NV's companions and game system upgrades.

Im gonna say Fallout New Vegas don`t really know why Ive just always enjoyed playing New Vegas more.

New Vegas for sure. Dunno why, but I've never really been too hot on FO3, and personally playing New Vegas just made the flaws of 3 way more apparent.

I like Fallout 3 better story-wise. But I love the new items from New vegas lol like the 357 revolver!

FNV for me the story writing and charters were better i mean Caesars legion was awesome who thought they would see the roman empire in fallout but i do think fallout 3 has a better world/setting plus the brotherhood in Fallout 3 is much better then brotherhood in FNV

New Vegas had a better story and overall improved on 3s mechanics (for the most part). But New Vegas' world was dull, quiet, and utterly boring. The feel of the world is always big for me and that's why Fo3 beats New Vegas in my opinion.

I felt New Vegas had more modding potential, but Fallout 3 really made you feel important to the plotline

Install TTW or some thing similar You will have two of them in one. IMHO

I kinda prefer the storyline in Fallout 3, but I feel like there is more to do in New Vegas and more modding potential; I like the factions too.

Fallout 3 kinda doesn't run well on my computer too.

New Vegas has modding potential but the storyline is just... ok.

Fallout 3 storyline was Great but not that much mod's.

New Vegas because of the mods and i like the desert wasteland feel the storyline was pretty bland tho.

They're both great, however i feel like Fallout 3 had a better story and setting (love the capital wasteland) while New Vegas has better mods available and slightly better gameplay (gun mods etc.).

For me, NV was the superior game in every way. More stable, better gameplay, etc.
I'm apparently in the minority on thinking the story is heads and shoulders better than in 3. It just seemed a more cohesive narrative and took itself just a bit more seriously than Fallout 3. There were still plenty of silly Fallout moments and out there ideas, but I felt like in Fallout 3 you couldn't swing a dead cat without hitting something 'hilarious' or over the top.
Which isn't to say Fallout 3 was bad by any stretch, I just liked NV better

fallout 3 has a better map imo, but fallout nv has better quest/ people.
