Maybe get some exclusive mods only for PS4 or Xbox (I doubt it, just a thought) and As Tex said mods are a unique PC selling point, so I wonder how this would affect sales on PC, because people might be looking for an excuse to play on their consoles.
They stated that mods created for Xbox and PS4 will also be free. Anyway, I think its a cool idea, but anything requiring a script extender of something that needs you to edit an ini file won't be able to work. I can only see armor and weapon mods working, and not amazing quality ones either. The consoles would lag to high hell. Here's a simple answer: the "mod store" comes with a warning that there's no guarantee the mods will run well on your console, and there's an easy to use menu to deactivate any mods you find don't work well. That way, you get to experiment and find whatever mods work for you, which is actually what PC gamers have been doing forever. I also will quote this. ''Keep in mind, console gamers will probably only have access to mods made using Bethesda's modding tools, not ones that actually alter the game's code.'' _________________ - I wrote:

| Wait, Do you actually have to pay for mods for Fallout 4?, Or is it just like Workshop? (The free Workshop, anyway...) _________________ |

| That seems more likely to me. People's custom built towns are way more feasible than actual mods are. @Sierran, no you won't have to pay for mods. They specifically stated that mods will be free. _________________ - Lady of The Singularity_________________ You exist because we allow it. And you will end because we demand it. |

| If a PS4/XB1 can even stomach the load orders of what I use for FONV or what people use for Skyrim I would be shocked. It would crap itself out before you probably go a chance to enjoy playing.
Now to factor in a next-gen game AND system intensive mods, that sounds like it wouldn't even have a shot. The FO4 presentation was cool for the ability to create personalized interiors and exteriors, along with the weapons crafting system as well.
But that is not all modding is about, as stated earlier a script extender would be needed for a lot of the mods a PC could handle and run, and texture packs would be a challenge without things like the 4GB extender and the stutter remover, for example.
I'll believe it when I see either console processing ENB's, 2K+ texture packs, 4k armors, High poly character models and so much more all at once without lagging or choking. _________________ Check Me Out @ The Nexus: SKYZOO |

| Hell most consoles can't even run games above 30 fps at 1080p, some can't even go to 1080p. That's why you always hear the console peasants always whining about how "the human eye can't see more than 25 frames" or some nonsense like that. _________________ - Lady of The Singularity_________________ You exist because we allow it. | "Mods ruin the game" - Some Console Players. (Youtube, Internet Threads... internet.). I have read and heard this sentence uttered to many times to count. But now that's apparently possible for mods to be ported to a console, well to be honest I'm interesting in how this plays out. I'm looking forward to it either crashing and burning (a console starts burning, literally?), or having people enjoy their nudes mods to their hearts content. (cause we all know its gonna happen). _________________ |

| I think it might be good, I'm somewhat excited but really it won't have much effect on me. PC modding will still be superior. _________________ "Sheogorath is already inside each of us. You have already lost." |

| I accept all who have spoken here. I agree that devices can fry with such processing. However, I am happy to receive this news after all I am a console player also. And many games I played and thought mods to extend gambling. It will be good in my opinion. more has to be well done it. :woohoo: _________________ A father of family seeking to play sparingly when you can ...

| They're going to moderate/curate mod releases on console, so you won't see stuff like GUN/ported mods there.

| I am, as well, curious to see how this plays out. I'm on the fence here, and while I do believe it would be great for those on consoles to have access to game modifications, that doesn't mean there won't be many limitations. Will Fallout 4 have integrated support for external plugins like NVSE/SKSE/OBSE for more functions/deeper changes to the game? (F4SE on the console wouldn't be able to be ran through it's executable.)
If the modified Creation Engine they are using doesn't have these capabilities we might not be seeing sophisticated, heavily scripted gameplay mods appear on the console and be strictly limited to only PC, and another big problem is hardware issues if a mod is too taxing on the console. Hopefully Bethesda knows what they're doing, because mods for consoles is an ambitious idea but comes with a lot of barriers to break through. |

- Wait if their is going to be modding support for Console imagine the problems that can emerge. I know for a fact that some mods work and some don't depending on the system your running. With a PC you are capable of going into the depths of your rig to pull out what ever it is that is crashing your game. But on console you just don't have access to all that you do with a PC. Getting a mod on console and then having it crash your game leaving you unable to play it until its fixed would be a problem. Now sure some mods you can just deactivate and boom its fixed. But others change things deeper in scripting. Simply deactivating it may turn it off but it will leave some settings unchanged which then still crash your game. And you can't just simply go in to the ini or what ever file you need to change it back. The only way to fix would be to delete the game off your hard drive and reinstall it. Which then you would have to get all of your mods that worked again and start a new game. I don't know if modding is a good idea for consoles but if you do I wouldn't get any mod that is very expansive. And I hope the next Gens(Well current Gens now) Can handle the mods and all of their glorified plugins.
All of this is irrelevant if the mod implementation manager is like "Mod Organizer". Not only that, They shouldn't be deciding what I choose to run on my console (If I had one that is). If I choose to mod after reading some king of "This can and will F up your game" warning, then I (or anyone else) should be able to choose what content I risk modding in. No censorship (unless racist or offensive), and do and no cutting it because its a higher risk.

- The big thing that few people seem to be mentioning is mods on consoles. Early 2016 will see the GECK for PC, after that, they've said that they're planning on releasing the GECK for XBONE and PS4 and it'll be able to support the pre-existing PC mods.
Where did you here that at? Do you have a link of who said it?
As for my full opinion, I will quote something I commented on YouTube...

- No no no, if the modes are limited like that for any reason, then there will be no point... it will just be "Free outsourced DLC." I hope for the love of god that they don't hinder the kinds of mods that get put up on Consoles... or this could flop horribly. I don't want nor need Bethesda to decide what my system can handle. I don't need Bethesda to decide what content I should see. Xbox Live already has a age restriction system... They can just utilize that. I hope to god they utilize that before just out right denying content. If they made this move to open up console players to mods, it will be very counterproductive to start filtering through what mods can be used for any reason other than malware.
- From IGN article linked above wrote:
- "Either your nudity or porn, that kind of stuff, or you're taking assets from Halo," Howard said. "Though, Microsoft might allow that. We'd have to get approval. But like, generally, if someone is using assets from another game, we have to say 'No, you can't do that."
I am not trying to advocate for the use of nude skins or other adult centered mods. What my main concern is, if they don't allow sexual content at all... does that mean that this skimpy outfit will me nixed, or this mod that has dialogue explicitly referring to sexual practice is going to be short lived? Where does it end... Why not just let it be? I just want to reiterate that the Xbox has a very well designed age restricting system. They don't need to police Adult content (Sexual or otherwise). I mean seriously, does this mean that they will nix things that reference alcohol, drugs, or Tabaco too? |

| @blaze1514 - its not about policing, its a ratings issue. If mods are released through an official channel that add 'Adults Only' content to an M-rated game, Bethesda risks having the game's rating changed. That affects which retailers will sell/advertise it, etc. It could hurt the game's sales in the long run, and at the end of the day they want to make money. Remember, Oblivion was originally rated Teen until the ESRB realized that there were mutilated, castrated corpses in the game, and 'nude' textures that could be accessed. So they changed the game's rating to M for Mature. http://www.esrb.org/about/news/downloads/oblivion_release_5.3.06.pdf That's the kind of situation that governs this. |

That makes sense, It would explain Steam's reluctance to put any mods like that on its workshop. Then, instead of having a single all in one place to get mods from. They need to give 2nd party mod apps permission to be used. Such as a "Nexus App" By Black Tree Gaming. With that they could just do a "2nd Party Content Not Rated By the ESRB" warning. Making whoever opts to use these apps agree to a waiver. (I say Nexus because they would be the most likely to get legal permission, since they take such a strong stance against porting from other games.) |

| Alright people, time to chill and stop with the 'console peasants' thing, say what you will but keep your personal hates and insults out of this. | While I am excited that console players can have some modding fun too, what I don't wanna see is mods that are "exclusive to Xbox one" or just exclusive to consoles in general. That would be the bane of console modding to me. _________________ |
