- They ban offline modding because you can transition from offline to online. It wouldn't be difficult to create a mod and make it work for only you on the online game which would be a serious advantage that would allow you to bypass basically anything you didn't want to deal with. It's due to mainly laziness. It's a lot easier to ban people than to create an integrity-checking system that would deny access to online for having additional, unofficial, files in the folders.
That^ This is a case where banning for SP mods is indeed warranted as it can have an effect on the online portion of the game, Not only that but the dll injection the mods are doing is a massive security hole for not only the servers but the players as well. The best way to solve this would be to either have local only saves/profiles for SP or add another layer of security checks that will keep mods offline tho this is easier said then done. |

| What if they found a way to support specifically modded servers that any progress on them wouldn't carry over to the normal online, then this wouldn't be as big of a problem. _________________ |

| Switch from sp to mp with just a button is very nice and practical, but isn't always the best method, the lack of a menu is strange for me, because every time you get a connection problem, time out etc, you have to wait it to load sp, this thing consumes too much time. GTA Online should be a different game, like opening in a different executable like all other games... |

| Just a reminder, piracy is bad. GTAV is rather boring, mod banning is horrible. Nonetheless, piracy is not the way. A good way to get what you want is simply waiting for GTA-MP, FiveM etc and having your pie and eating the pie. ...while giving rockstar the finger... The modding for the title itself is progressing quite nicely but people are just now reading through Rockstars EULA which clearly states, from back in 2013, that all sort of tinkering and tampering AND modifying game content is breaking the rules. I wouldnt be surprised if Rockstar decided to go on an all out war on modding, story and online, for reasons unknown to common sense using people. |

| I actually just played with someone playing as a Monkey yesterday. Had a flying car too. He had the whole server in the palm of his hand. All of us were at the airport while he changed into different animals and drove cars as a deer and hit people as a monkey with an explosive punch. Spawned alot of vehicles that are not accessible online. Like the cars from the beginning of the single player campaign. Dude was really friendly and to be honest, he actually made the server come together and stop killing each other to witness this guy and his magic he brought with him. Actually had alot of fun. _________________ |

| He'll be banned within 24 hours. Anything that is related to fun is alien to Rockstar. For every friendly modder like that there is a dozen of abusive trolls that will/can be banned. Worst of all, Rockstar does in fact go the extra mile of banning people that came in contact with a mod user. |

| Well, I was not banned today. So I guess Im in the clear. Maybe? Anyway I had a friend who got a ban for using a memory dump cache mod. He had a memory problem so he solved it with a mod, one that fixed his problem, but apparently you aren't allowed to do that. He is a honest player too, does missions, jobs, and heists to earn his cash. _________________ |

We have always appreciated the creative efforts of the PC modding community and we still fondly remember the awesome zombie invasion mod and original GTA map mod for GTAIV PC among many other classics. To be clear, the modding policy in our license has not changed and is the same as for GTAIV. Recent updates to GTAV PC had an unintended effect of making unplayable certain single player modifications. This was not intentional, no one has been banned for using single player modifications, and you should not worry about being banned or being relegated to the cheater pool just for using single player PC mods. Our primary focus is on protecting GTA Online against modifications that could give players an unfair advantage, disrupt gameplay, or cause griefing. It also bears mentioning that because game mods are by definition unauthorized, they may be broken by technical updates, cause instability, or affect your game in other unforeseen ways. http://www.rockstargames.com/newswire/article/52429/asked-answered-the-rockstar-editor-gta-online-updates Basically, they said that the patch which supposedly broke all the mods, was unintended. And people could use mods all they want, but don't use it on Online. They said they have not banned anyone for using mods in single-player. |

| Wolf...after reading what Rockstar did when handling customers and general player populace and how they nerfed almost to 0 or removed some content, I wouldnt believe a word they say/write. IMHO they lost all credibility, NOW they may not be banning people for mod use but still... After MY ban is lifted I'm pretty sure I am not playing the story mode or official Online server, I'm waiting for FiveM or GTA:MP |

| I could see why they wouldn't you to mod on their official servers, they've said that they support users modding their single player game (really recently, I think today even). However, that being said I would like to see the addition of modded and unmodded servers, So i could mess around with some friends. _________________ |

Except people still got banned for using the FOV mod or for even being in the same session as a hacker (even if they didn't do anything). Doesn't matter if they don't ban single-player mods, good to know, the point is that there are no different folders for online and singleplayer where you can place mods, so every mod you use for singleplayer is basically gonna be detected when you play online, which will get you banned even if you don't use it. AND..they still banned people for using the FOV mod, which I think it's an unacceptable thing to do, considering that it's a harmless mod. So they either make the flipping fov option in the game BETTER, or they let people use the mod. Have you played GTA V in first person? The FOV is absolutely hideous. _________________ LINK: - Youtube Channel (Italian) |

You're 100% right, everything look merged and small wanted to check if there was any fix or mod to help with that and finaly readed that rockstar don't realy like mod... im scared to touch mod now don't want to get ban, i understand in a manner that modding in the multiplayer could maybe screw the economy maybe? |

| I understand why they would go for this method of prevention, because a lot of people would complain about the cheating, though I wish they could maybe offer a separate server or something for people who want to play with mods can use. But oh well. _________________ |

| I've just been manually shifting modded files into a backup folder when I do Online, then put them back when I want to mess around in story mode. Little extra effort, but I've not been banned, so working so far.
Edit: Some of what I use would most definitely get me banned if used in Online, such as being able to spawn any vehicle, god mode, infinite ammo, raising/lowering wanted levels, etc. |

But doesn't FOV let you view further ahead? Usually if something is too far, it disappears. It might be considered cheating if that's what it is since there are also console players. I could be wrong though. |

| The render distance, at least on PC, is one of the farthest I've seen for a game, yet. |

| Rockstar made an announcement a day or two ago, something to the effect of "Offline mods are great, but don't use them online." So, they support mods but don't want to throw off the balance online, in theory, if someone were to reverse engineer the server structure people could create personal servers with mods included in the server for personal/free use that'd bypass their ban hammer and allow you to play with other like-minded players that enjoy the mods on the server. |

| I can understand banning online mods but if they ban using mods for offline I'm not even gonna bother buying it for pc when I already have it on the xbox one _________________ "IF YOU AINT FIRST YOUR LAST" - Ricky Bobby |
