Currently working on a mod, but the textures I have to work with are lower resolution than I'd like. I've tried resizing them and then using a sharpness effect, but it doesn't make any noticeable change.

Does anyone have a solid method for doing this in either GIMP or Paint.net? I don't own Photoshop, unfortunately.

I use Photoshop so I can't offer much in the way of specific help, unfortunately.

But there are a lot of methods for upscaling/creating HD versions of textures, I'd suggest googling tutorials for the programs you use.

Have you tried creating a normal map for the texture? It always looks better when you do that in my opinion.

P.S. I also like to use GIMP rather than photoshop .

I've tried, but with little success. It seems the only tutorials are for Photoshop.

The textures all have normal maps, it's just the regular textures that need a facelift. They don't look terrible, but I'd just feel better with having them be higher resolution.
