Ok so I am a huge fan of modding my game to have a lot of goodies in it such as guns, armors, clothing, even head replacers etc etc, you all know the gist.

Recently I switched from using a PC (old junk) and moved onto a quite impressive and efficient gaming laptop.
8 gigs of RAM, GeForce 850M, Intel i7 so as you see its not shabby and here comes the problem.
Using the same Steam account as always I got FNV on this machine, installed, got mods, as usual around 170.
I applied a nice ENB to enhance my experiences in game and after starting, purple screen then black and thats all. I found its a mod amount issue so I went from 170 to 145 and it fixed it, now I have 140 mods and I'm wondering...mods keep being developed and I might find something I like, be it here or on Nexus.
Is there possibly a way to have more, at least in this case, than 145 mods. Curiously my PC which was several tiers less powerful than this laptop could run 160 mods at max before the game started glitching out.
Any suggestions how to cut down mod amount while keeping content or perhaps raising the mod cap?

The maximum number of mods your particular setup can handle is a mysterious beast. The magic number for most people I'd tell someone to stay below is 140. For me, a mod or two past 140 results in frequent crashing. I believe the game even has a warning that advises you to get down to 135.

If you are looking to clean up your load order, you can use tools like FNV Plugin Utility in combination with FNVedit to merge mods together. This works nicely for example if you wanted to use a bunch of individual weapon plugins. Just be sure to backup your work and glance through all entries with FNVedit for issues.

I am actually using FNV4GB, will look into merging misc plugins and see how many slots I can free up.

Went from 140 esps to 116. So far working properly. Merged all my non bundled weapon mods into one big pack called Weapons, will do the same with armor and clothing.

Try using New Vegas Anti Crash (NVAC). It might help you from crashing.
