| Well,
Oblivion`s 4GB patch is just a few clicks harder, than in FNV, it also requires manual 4GB patching for all OBSE plugins, but it all can be done in 10 minutes. And RAM is not an issue anymore, its actually more stable, than 4GB patch for FNV =) Better Cities using alot of ram, but Vram usage is even harder. I`m not even using quad texture packs anymore, because game wont launch with them and better cities enabled =)
I know, that one plugin for Oblivion had Vram purge script, but I cant find it anymore =(
Well, like I said, I had freezes back then, now I`m using just the same, but with NVAC and NVSR and everything runs smoothly. No crashes during 1.5-2 hours gameplay sessions, no freezes.
I never really got any info about PCB damaging the save games... Savegame is actually an incremental backup, a list of changes in gameworld. You can damage it by missing links, like when disabling a plugin with perk. Savegame trying to address to it, but cant find a source anymore, result - broken save. Still even a broken save can be easily fixed =)
I dont think that purging previously loaded cells will somehow damage the gamedata, because everything is stored within current cell, PCB only removes unused gamedata.
It will not remove bodies on the ground, items.
If you can link original thread or a post with info about PCB damaging savedata, I`d like to read it.

| Like i said its from personal experience in fallout 3, experience that may not even be valid anymore so i probably shouldn't of mentioned it, my bad. That said, if your game is at the point were PCB is required for fast menu opening then your game has other problems elsewhere. are you running PCB a lot because you need it or because you think its needed? it wont reduce crashes, just speed things up a bit. Edit: Scratch what i said about it not reducing crashes, i forgot about partly corrupt date in the buffer due to bad or incomplete buffering, PCB will help in these cases but they are pretty uncommon. I can not find evidence to support my theory on PCB, whispers of fast travel crashes, descriptions on mod pages that elude to PCB potentially decreasing stability and scripted events not working because data has been forcibly purged at the wrong time. But nothing Concrete, I think I'll just agree with you that i was probably mistaken. but i still don't use recommend it unless you really have to, forcibly flushing data, even junk data has got to have some ramifications some where. Thanks for all the info Visious, i feel a little bit more knowledgeable after this, its been fun.

| Yep, exactly when menu start to open 3-7 seconds, instead of 1 sec, and when it starts to lag extensively with 10 NPCs in Underground Hideout. Thats the only 2 reasons I use PCB. The problem with menu opening too long is simple, its even written in the official thread and on wiki - "Having a lot of items in your inventory can slow down load times, causing a delay when opening the Pip-Boy" And I tend to carry alot of ammo Delays starting after 30-40 minutes of gameplay, so 1-2 PCB during a game session is not that critical. PS My pleasure =) _________________ -- brainball - My Achievements:

| Oh... well now i feel a bit silly, thought you were running PCB every 30 seconds using that scripted mod.
One or two times a session due to a packed inventory is definitely not a problem, i did it more often then that in the fallout 3 days.
sorry i didn't realize sooner. haha |

| Lol, thats ok =) PCB every 30 sec can hurt a game for sure Thats not even necessary to run it so often, once in 10 min just fine, just checked a bit in descriptions - PCB really can purge scrpiting during execution, when run too often, project NEVADA and weapon mods plugins were reported to be damaged by extencive PCB, but it seems like savegame data was clean even after that. Scripting procedure stores in a plugin, savedata dont store scripting, as far as I know. Using PCB 2-5 times during an hour has a very low chance to catch an executing script. Well, I feel that we got wiser after this conversation =) I hope it will help other people to configure a safe FNV. _________________ -- brainball - My Achievements:

| @Burcod That is normal behavior in this game, it's harmless. However if you find it really annoying you can install the stutter remover and enable the fast exit option in its ini file: http://www.nexusmods.com/newvegas/mods/34832/? I hope this helps. |

Interestingly enough, they say it's caused by some mod dependencies or something. Apparently shutting down the game crashes it. Strange, eh? it has zero effect on saves and anything, so once again, nothing to worry about. |

| I really need help guys. A week ago my NV was running fine. Now it crashes every 2-10 minutes.

I also have the latest versions of NV stutter remover, 4GB enabler, NVAC, most of Drag's old VGU armor pack resources as well as his newest stuff, Weapon Animation Replacers, Cpt.Rex's melee animation replacers, and the Unified Hud Project.
I have no idea why this is happening. I think it may be Nevada skies, because I think around the time I installed it this started happening, or maybe CASM. I have CASM set to save every 2 minutes, so I think that may have caused some of the crashes. I'm also playing in windowed mode, video settings set to high. Please Help! EDIT: Moving this to its own topic cuz apparently no one is seeing this. _________________ - Can you figure it out?:
