| Hello everyone, Ace here!
I'm going to start this off as it's good to post a topic here once again and hopefully the collective mind of GUNetwork can solve this issue since it's an odd one, maybe new even since I can't find a solution online. So it goes like this, while I was in an Infantry Training Battalion in July I was told that a laptop would be the best investment for gaming in the Fleet. Well as desperate as I was I bought an Alienware Laptop through my phone (dumb I know but like I said, "desperate") and had it sent to my home 2 states away and I would grab it while on leave. When I graduated and received my laptop I started downloading games and began playing, every game was running smoothly with a 2080 Super, I9 10900, 64gb ram but then I decided to launch Fallout 4 and it crashed immediately. Wondering what happened since it was a vanilla game I searched up issues, one involved setting ipresentinterval to 0. Easy enough. Now the game actually launched to the main menu. I press new game and it took about 10 minutes to load the intro, as I waited it out the game was stuck at 4fps. Red flags flying I began searching for more answers, I was told it was using the wrong gpu since laptops have one built in to be able to select the installed 2080 Super, so I changed it to the correct GPU and even installed enb boost to confirm it was using the 2080 through its menu. Still the issue occurs, any ideas brothers and sisters? _________________ - Accelerator Info:

| Do you happen to have the exact laptop model name? So that I can look at the specs myself to see what the core clock is and a few other things to maybe be able to help. Like you said, gaming laptops tend to use a custom type of GPU, and often CPU with different specs since they don't have the same airflow and cooling as they would in a desktop setup. Also I must ask what other games you said ran fine. As I'm not sure of a scale to compare why it wouldn't run in one game to another without another game to reference, just pick the next closest quality of specs in terms of requirements (just scroll down on the games page in steam to see the minimum required specs is the easy way). Which is a good place to start check what brand the GPU is and if it has a in-built overlay or just general software (ex. AMD Radeon Software, or Adrenaline which are virtually the same, or Nvidia has Geforce Experience and the like) and run them and check if they have a "compatibility" section, which while not amazing will usually tell you if your pc meets the minimum tested specs for x game in this case fo4, and if so we can go from there. Hope this helps a little, or youve already gotten it by this point!

| Edit: Phone refresh made me double post, gotta start using the web version, sorry. To add though, it could be a driver issue as well thinking about it, make sure all your drivers are up to date. Not to assume you did, but you didn't change other settings when you change the IPresentInterval setting did you? As sometimes the Beth games don't like you tweaking certain settings and I've corrupted my games a few times playing with INI settings. A quick way to check if that's your issue would be to delete the INI from the Data directory and then "Verify file Integrity" on Steam so it redownloads the main file. Which you could also do just to check your game isn't missing any files, which is known to cause black screens and CTDs. |
