WHY NO .. 45 long Colt? The ICONIC western cartridge 

l like vintage revolvers so just for the sake of discussion... and possibility of a bored modder ..wink nudge.. l did a little brainstorming...

- Colt Peacemaker in all its 45 lc variations ..

- lever action rifles, S/A and D/A pistols, break top pistols ala S/W or Webley.

-S&W MOD 25... basically the Mod 29 44 mag in a different chambering.



**Cass- would look awesome with a 45 LC her Grand daddy left her in a nice buscadero holster rig.
Which opens up some very cool options for clothing armor combos.

Gunslinging Cass... oooh yeah!  
Possibly a lore friendly unique type ala Lonesome strangers 44 mag.
A big azz Bowie knife hanging off the belt as well would certainly give Cass some more cachet!
A helluva a one. two, punch there!
Face it she could use a little more pizzazz...

- the famous pistol Indiana Jones packed a early D/A Colt New Service... (which can also be found in 44 special and 45 acp, you can run 45 ACP with moon clips thru this pistol interchangeably.
OOOH look a quest to find the Raider of the lost Ark loot and unique pistol what a possibility....

-Webley MKVI - for the sake of brevity, in 45 acp and very funky lore friendly look very quick reloading.

45 lc Power would be a notch less than 44 mag about same as 44 special and cost would put it into the hands of Raiders and the like earlier in game instead of lead pipes etc.
Nice way to thin out the 9mm pistols as loot in game they get boring after a while lol..

Ammo- 45LC ball with SWC recipe for more performance
-one could go for JHP recipe for a tad more ummf.

According to wikipedia it was replaced by 1892, so by 2077 it would have been pretty rare.

Here's how l view it... any commercially successful cartridge as of the date the game released is a viable cartridge for FNV.

Why cuz people still build guns for it and ammo is readily available.

The venerable 45-70 was taken out of service eons ago ... guess what its a major player ammo/lore wise in the game.
Brush gun, Hunting revolver, and Ranger Sequoia to name just a few.

You have a basically fictitious 10mm ammo but thats OK.

So many mil surplus weapons and ammo NOT represented in game and understandably for the devs... BUT theres no such issue for modders put what you want in the mods both ammo and firearms.

Its lore friendly or not and thats up to whoever makes the mods and who decides to run em.

Actually, 10mm is not fictitious at all. 10mm Auto (10x25mm) was used for the Bren Ten and the S&W Model 610. As for the other "outdated" weapons, idk why they used them. Would have been better if they used more modern style weapons.

Your right my choice of words was not great.

l'm just looking at it from the fun side and the new theme here inspired that thread post.

Having said that 10 mm ammo sales (outside of 40 S&W) are likely bottom 10% of all civilian ammo sales if that. It was a devs call l guess that 10 mm would be a mainstay "newer" cartridge and so they invented it.

As for more modern weapons...lore side of it where do you think all those Nukes landed and all those "modern"weapons that are sitting out there irradiated all to H-LL LOL. (ghouls can use em l guess he he)

So naturally people go up in the attic down in the basement or shed/barn etc and dust off great granpa's guns.
Not to mention that warehouses would be sitting around in out of the way places just crammed to the gills with outdated weapons that now are worth their weight in gold!

Anyone with a shop full of equipment and material plus a basic weapon to copy is in business ala Gunrunners on the larger scale and Joe blow in his basement on the small.

Then theres how the game devs made up so many weapons that are cobbled up out of parts of a few old or new weapons and in use.

So me personally l'm a gun guy and old is cool if you like whiz bang lasers and plasma weapons its all good (tho in post apocalyptic world where are they getting ultra sophisticated energy cells in bulk?)

It would be nice to have a decent .45 revolver, since it follows a little bit of convention of having both a cylinder and magazine pistol for each of the handgun ammo types. Project Nevada even made a .44 Pistol, which was clearly modeled after the Desert Eagle, just to keep with the convention a bit. But then you'd need a magazine-fed .357 pistol too...

Anyway, if you want a .45 revolver, the best option/s on offer at this time seems to be...
