| So this might actually be something that belongs in the Discussion section but i'm gonna put it here for now.
So i'm sure some people have noticed the difference in FO4 & FNV's modding communities right? Or am i just imagining things. While FO4 has a lot of nice weapons and armor mods i feel like it's lacking everything else. I mean maybe i just haven't seen enough or none of it is memorable but there is a distinct lack of like Quests & Adventure Mods, Town Edits, and maybe some faction edits that really truly add some new content. Anyways i guess my question would be do you think that there has just been a shift in the modding community due to FO4's problem or do you think some of our better mod makers have just chosen to stick with F3 & NV because they prefer those games?
Please Feel Free to bring up any other issues or criticize me if this thread doesn't make sense.
Staff Edit: The Modding section is reserved for the future project of the modders for the presentation and progress of their work.
The Discussion section is made to exchange ideas and opinions about Fallout.

| The lack of quest mods for fallout 4 could be due to the dialogue system, as it is hard to splice audio for the voiced protagonists. I'd guess that the modding scene of fallout 4 will really take off once bethesda stops updating it (and breaking all the current mods), and community projects like f4nv and cascadia are (eventually) released. People will want to tweak current aspects of these projects, and these projects aren't using a voiced protagonist. _________________ |

| @sgtrock31 One of the problems with FO4 is that the script extender is no where near as developed as the ones for the other fallout's. It makes it harder to mod. Also the community is really divided on whether or not FO4 is a good game or not. I personally think it is which is why it's the only fallout I release mods for currently. _________________ |

| There is a huge selection of sexual mods for Fallout 4, far more than New Vegas. I think because of this, a lot of great mods can go unnoticed. But as @annex77, the Fallout community is divided about whether or not Fallout 4 is a good game or not. I can see this as a problem since people might be put off from modding Fallout 4 if they don't like it. Since New Vegas was a better game that a lot of people liked, people might be more interested to improve upon the flaws of the game, change and overhaul many aspects of the game. Hell, @dragbody is still creating amazing mods for this game that is nearly a decade old. As soon as Cascadia and Fallout 4 New Vegas comes, I think there'll be more players creating unique mods for this game. |

| @sgtrock31 I think they are fairly the same with the mods that they have out. IIRC there are decent quest mods for Fallout: 4 (tales of the commonwealth). Of course this does not compare to the quests that we have for FNV but you also have to take into account that the modding community for the game is fairly young(not literally of course) compared to the FNV modding community. I think the thing that separates the two games at the moment is FO4 is becoming Skyrim because of the number of sexual mods that it has and FNV has matured into something role players would love. This I think would change once the big projects comes out(FO4: New Vegas, Cascadia, Fallout: Miami, WARS to name a few). Edit: Swapped out Frontier(which is a FNV mod) to Cascadia. Must have been tired when I was typing this. _________________ Will there be enough Dakka?

A lot of good information to get. I do hope we see a lot more quest mods for one of expansion mods. I do as well get the 'Skyrim' Vibe from the modding community. Not a surprise that quite a few of the big modders for FO4 were doing skyrim mods. Hopefully in the future we will see an increase in story driven mods. Thanks for everyone's replies. |
