Hello, I am creating this topic because i wanted the community's opinion on some thing. We all know that the modding on Fallout: New Vegas and Fallout 3 has long since been, dead. But it had a long life time. Unlike Fallout 4, I have the feeling this game didn't had many mods as New Vegas did. You can find over 500 well made and original weapons (not counting everything, but weapons that are not the same as vanilla or dlc with few changes such a 9mm pistol shooting bombs or plasma shots) for New Vegas but barely any for Fallout 4. Fallout 4 is out since 2015. New Vegas great mods were around 2013, 2014 and 2015. It's 2017 and there's still barely any mods for Fallout 4. So what do you think about it, is Fallout 4 modding really dead? The game is still alive and well (looking at the steam stats) but the modding doesn't seems so well. I know that there are lot of people on Skyrim Special Edition and other games other than the Elder Scrolls and Fallout games so that may also why.
But do you think we're going to see more weapons coming for Fallout 4? There's a new weapon on the nexus, the Mosin Nagant if i remember well, it has true reloading animations, I wish that could be the case for Fallout New Vegas weapons too. I think that it is possible to make a LMG such as the M60 reloading for real, you know, real animations, not those you found on FNV. But there is barely anything, so I was wondering, are people actually working on content for Fallout 4 or it is kind of dead? I would love to see myself some actually working world war ii weapons in this game, more modern and other weapons too.
Gunetwork, Nexus, Modgames, wherever it is, there's barely anything, not saying that content is not great, it's just too few, if you compare it to FNV which has way more, of course, FNV modding is dead but it had lot of mods in the making back in 2013, 2014 and 2015. Fallout 4 is 2 years old and there's barely anything. Millenia made two weapons and two retextures for Fallout 4, and more than I don't know how many for New Vegas.
So... what is your opinion on this? Do you think that there is lot of content in the work or that the modding community working on Fallout 4 is just not as big as FNV had. _________________ "All we have to decide is what to do with the time that is given to us"- Gandalf the Bla- I mean the white. |

| Is it dead? It seems to have nearly the same amount(actually more) of mods as NV despite only being around a year and a half old.
I haven't really kept up with FO4 mods so I'm not sure what is being made. I know skyrim nexus is 90% waifu presets.

| On the Nexus, Fallout 4 has more mods in nearly a year and half then New Vegas does in 7 whole years. Plus, new mods in the works for Fallout 4 way more commonly than NV. Skyrim still is pretty active probably even more so than Fallout 4 because Skyrim is a more popular game and imo a better game. There's still great mods out there for FO4, because modding takes time and it's only been a year and a half. Between the 7 years and now I bet some modders started their projects in say, 2014 and released it in 2016. It's unfair on FO4 to say it's modding community is dead when it's thriving and competing with Skyrim's modding community, something FNV was incompetent in. On this site I'd say its pretty balanced. FNV has slightly more mods due to be released in 2010 rather than 2015 but soon enough Fallout 4 will receive more mods due to being made in a better engine, being a newer game and because there is a lot more potential, no matter what the Bethesda keyboard warriors out there say. |

I completely agree, having stripped down most of the core mechanics leaves plenty of potential. It's basically a blank canvas. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ t. keyboard warrior |

| I would say that the FO4 modding community is still in it's evolving stages. We had a bunch of high quality mods in 2015 when it first came out and no official modding tools were released yet. 2016 was definitely pretty big since we got a bunch of mods that changed the game tremendously. Skyrim still has the bigger modding community since the game overall better, more flexible, and has a easier modding kit. It has only been a year and a half since the game came out and we're already seeing huge mods come into play. Another thing, a lot of the modders who put out those extremely high quality mods(DogTooth, Fadingsignal, Chesko, Tapioks, Hein84, Unoctom, Millenia, L00ping and now KingGath) have said before that they want to continue creating mods for this game(Not ALL of them, but some). If that is true, I would say that Fallout 4 is gonna strive for a good while. There is still a very strong modding community for Fallout 4, and is a bit surprising how far it grew. The number of mods that come out per like week for Fallout have been seen as smaller due to the fact that Skyrim is currently the game that is competing with it, mainly for the reasons I said earlier. Also There are still some pretty damn big mods coming out for this game. Cascadia and Lone Star usually comes into mind(Even though Lone Star is on hold for a while). That is my Perspective on the whole matter. Fallout 4 modding is basically still taking it's baby steps and has finally known how to say it's first word. _________________ Flickr | STEAM | NEXUS <--- Where you can connect with me |

| It isn't really dead, but it will never reach Skyrim levels of content. And yeah, like Skyrim, most of the mods are about naked girls (dark side of modding right there), but Skyrim is more, well, accessible I'd say, with it being a generic medieval fantasy and no matter how streamlined FO4 is, it still may seem "too weird" for some.
Then again, if you filter the most popular games on the Nexus from generic race/face presets, companions, player homes and repeating weapon mods (seriously, how many version of M4/AK can there be?), I'd say FNV would come out on top, with Skyrim as a serious contender for that role.
And FO4 modding will always be somewhat hamstrung by the voiced protagonist and awfulness of the perk tree too. |

| @superpele The whole reason, for example in my case I like the real weapons, there are several quality mods, but they are very few, I hope the W.A.R.S mod leaves soon, to see a good M4 in FALLOUT4 _________________ |

| i agree with @dantaefetticus that that the FO4 modding community is still in it's evolving stages and it's neither dead or alive it's just sorta there when you measure it up to something like Skyrim or Fallout NV _________________ the messages ov the old world still persist and find meaning in the present most cant/wont hear the weight in their feet either for good or worse in the messages they speak to one another in truth we are all couriers carrying unknown messages.

| It's true that Skyrim mods are mostly "nudity and things we don't need" mods but it has several pack of armors and weapons. For Fallout 4, I have not seen lot of stuff. Sure, the game is not great but the engine is better, which means, real reloading, better weapons, better gameplay mods, and that is what i am looking for, lot of well working weapons. But there is barely anything other than small mods that anyone could make. Hope to see more weapon and armor mods for Fallout 4 soon then!
Plus in my opinion, skyrim does not need 50000 different weapons, when it comes to the Fallout games, the more you have, the better it is but that is my own opinion. _________________ "All we have to decide is what to do with the time that is given to us"- Gandalf the Bla- I mean the white. |
