Given that this entire topic is a spoiler, and I warned of Lonesome Road Spoilers in the title, I will not be using spoiler tags in this post.
I'm curious what people thought of the reveal of the source of Ulysses's name in Fallout New Vegas. Given his talk of journeys and his personal quest to find both himself and a home, I thought that his name would either be a reference to The Odyssey or to James Joyce's Ulysses. I was genuinely surprised, and quite frankly, every time I play Lonesome Road I react a little when it is revealed that he named himself after Ulysses S Grant.
While I agree with Someguy (at least his characters) that Ulysses can be a little pretentious and self-righteous to the point of annoyance, I love the source of his name.
