Okay, so the texture pack came out yesterday and I can safely say that most of my texture mods will be deleted from SSD in favor of their High res pack. The difference between this and the vanilla game is much starker than Skyrim's High Res pack. I'm also running a 1070 and easily maintain ~70fps so it hasn't been a drag on performance at all. I've even read some reports about people using a 970 and still having good performance.

Those are not my pictures (I don't like to share pics unless they look just the way that I want them to) but they should be taken with a grain of salt because of how Imgur compresses images. Also, the difference wasn't really apparent to me until I was in-game and walking around.
From a distance, they don't look terribly different, but everything looks SO much more crisp than the vanilla game now and you definitely notice this as you get closer to the surfaces that used to bug the hell out of me. As I've said before, I enjoy art consistency and having a mix-match of so many different texture mods always ended up looking ugly because some mod authors are better at creating PBR assets than others. So, if you're looking for an easy way to make the game look a little more crisp and you have the VRAM to spare then I absolutely recommend that you give the texture pack a shot.
(Sorry Australia I hear your Internet sucks)

Still doesn't look that different from vanilla game. I dont care if I can run it perfectly (which I can), I'm not sacrificing 58gb off my SSD for some slightly better textures.
Sorry Bethesda, you done fu**ed it up.

I sincerely don't understand why this would be considered a fuck up by anyone. It's a welcome update for those who have the horsepower and drive space to spare (not bragging about my system. It is what it is) and it's about the same size as any other developer who does the PC community a big friggin service and releases their uncompressed assets. Rainbow Six Siege and Watchdogs 2 are some games that have recently done exactly the same thing and the texture packs were about the same size. They're uncompressed! Why is anyone surprised at the size?
It's also free so it's not like they're selling anything. Why is releasing something for free a fuck up? I'm not trying to just blindly defend Beth or anything because I think there's plenty to be critical about, but being so salty about something that's free and completely optional seems counterproductive. Maybe it's not for everyone, doesn't mean gamers need to be upset about it.

I'll admit, those textures do look a lot more crisp and detailed. Foliage is still meh, but there's mods for that. If it's running 70 on your card momuse88, then I may give this a try. =)
Though 58gb is still very questionable, even if it's every single texture in the vanilla experience.

Not saying other people cant enjoy it. I'm just saying I won't install it because in my opinion, I dont think it looks at all different from vanilla textures, and I cant really be bothered to sit and wait for 58gb to install for the sake of a little sharper textures.
You're free to enjoy it. I was just hoping for something way higher quality. Something that makes the game look 2017, not 2014. I guess I could stick with modding the game then I guess.

@"Corvo" Fair enough. I've seen the same type of argument back and forth a bit on Reddit and it always puzzled me so thanks for not getting hostile about me voicing my thoughts.

Just jumping in here, I just downloaded the pack and haven't really had the time to play around with it too much yet, but I will say that the change is noticeable. Very crisp up close. As covered previously in the thread by @momuse88, I think what people might be expecting is for things to look different. They won't. They're not completely done from the ground up textures, they're the original textures in 4k. It's not a mod pack of all-new textures in 4k in that mod author's particular style. It took me a minute to wrap my head around this, because I'm used to installing Ojo Bueno or amidianborn's texture packs for their respective games and having the games immediately jump out as being new and different from vanilla. I'll reserve judgment on the pack's actual merits until I have some time to really sink my teeth into the game again.

I have yet to download the pack, but many thanks for the info @momuse88, as someone who really likes details, this seens like a good work actually, textures looks really good, not the blurred ones from vanilla. I had no hype for FO4, no hype for the texture pack, both surprised me. I think i may not use this over my mods because of variety, but certaintly i'll take some out in favor of this pack, some tex actually appears to be really good

Ok, had a little time to look around a bit. I'm running on a 1070 and 16gb ddr4 and my framerates are rock solid 60fps @1080p. So far so good. I'm noticing that some details are still lacking, like the rust on cars. Some objects seem less like they've had actual work done and more like the texture was just wrapped around the geometry and called good. However, generally speaking everything is super sharp and generally better than without the pack. It really will just depend on what you're looking for. I know a number of people who flat out refuse to mess with mods, and this pack will allow those people a high res experience. For me, I'll probably keep this on as a base and overwrite with texture packs, at least that way if anything gets missed by a texture pack it's still the proper resolution.

Ill be very honest about this darned pack. Im not happy about it at all. Given the size of the pack to see little to no improvement, I think Ill stick to modded textures only at this point.

Ok, I take back everything I said. Here's a direct comparison video:
It basically looks like they took the original textures and sharpened them. In most cases it looks like there is literally no difference. Garbage. Guess I'm going back to unofficial packs again.

It's not worth 56 gb of space , you can store so many more useful files with all that storage

56 gigs for that? Hahaha What the fuck is Bethesda turning into Bohemia no way I would waste 56 gigs for something that looks no different than the default game... Two years later when I have all of the ENB and other shit to make it better than the default game already plus this. These AAA games these days.

Funny story, I have a desktop with I7 core and GTX980. When the pack was first released, I downloaded the HD version and it was like 50GB for me. When I tried it, my frame became really unstable and my CPU temperature rises to 80 degree. The program alerts me that my hardware is burning. Then I have to take off the fan, it was totally covered by the dust and the wind just does not come out. I cleaned the fan and put it back, then there is not a big problem to run the HD pack anymore.
