| Uhm, it wasn't meant as a dig. At all. I was pointing out the similarity in the works - it seems strange, but one could seamlessly hop from Old Boy to the colorized Epic Comics version of Akira and ultimately arrive at David Mazzucchelli's mid-80's stuff without feeling at all displaced... |

| I didnt take it as a dig. You are correct sir.(in regards to how well comics like that seem to blend without having any relevance to each other.) Anyways. What I love about Old Boy is that (much like History of Violence or Road to Perdition) you would not believe it to be a comic book/manga movie. While it does seem a little far fetched in places, its story is so perfect and real that the viewer becomes completely enveloped by the characters. Perhaps it is the lack of the cape that makes these stand out (once again in my own opinion), but whatever the reason the characters make an impact on the viewer/reader. |

| I haven't collected comic books since too long. I was collecting The Tenth and then Fathom. Before that I was hell of into Spawn, The Pitt and Shadowhawk. Wasn't really into DC Comics or much of Marvel anymore. Always enjoyed the darker style of comics. Mainly from Image. I did like Lady Death and Chastity too. |

| Spawn. I have been a fan of. Never got into the darker stuff till late in life. Thats mostly cus I lived in a small town and they were a bitch to find. Now I got some of the darker material, and Love it all. While its easier to write depressing endings than happy endings, I find a lot of the darker stuff actually compells you to hope for the best in the end. |

I think you might find Neil Gaiman's "The Sandman" to be right up your alley, especially his handling of Death... - ZombieRedNeck wrote:

| Big fan of Requiem Chevalier Vampire. I`ts a french-made graphic novel. The plot of the novel tells the story of the hero - Heinrich Augsburg nazi soldier, who found his death on the Eastern Front . But instead to go to heaven or hell, he is thrown on Resurrection - a planet similar to Earth, but is its complete negative. There he meets a vampire knights , powerful ruling caste of this world and its dub under the name of Requiem . He finds his forbidden beloved, who is a witch on a Resurrection - the enemy of vampires and their former enemies and allies . As a result, the Requiem is in the center of the intricacies of intrigue whose purpose is to change the power in Draconia - vampires state. Iconic and beautiful thing. Read mandatory! - Spoiler:

It's a four issue mini-series Neil Gaiman did back in the day that could best be described as "DC Harry Potter-esque before Harry Potter was a thing." Both the later series and the character of Tim Hunter are kinda balls, but there was something charming about seeing John Constantine and Zatanna take the kid around the magic-based underworld of a superhero universe... |

No, but it's on my list - guess I better go track it down now before yet another person mentions it to me again... |

| Does Manga count? If so then my friend got me into the Higurashi series. I normally don't read these kinds of things but this particular manga is pretty interesting. Very violent though. |

| The only comic books I was able to get my hands on for obvious reason is Halo Initiation and Halo Escalation. I also have Halo Graphic Novel stashed somewhere else.
I also read Naruto, Bleach, and One Piece. I am much more interested in the Naruto Series. I tried to read other mangas but I just can't bring myself to follow them.
I find the latest One Piece chapter hilarious. |

| I'm a great fan of Transmetropolitan. Best journalist ever (yes).
Other than that, The Sandman and Lucifer are both great comics as well, and coincidentally all three are Vertigo material. Or perhaps not so coincidentally, a lot of stuff that Vertigo publishes is great, or at least better than that from most other publishers.
Nothing said on mangas because none come to mind right now. _________________ *Insert funny grimdark quote* *Insert epic sci-fi picture*
