| He wants to know about the behemoth versions, Vixen.
I was scouring through the wiki and I haven't found anything related to where those originate from, kinda curious now, I only know they're twice as tall or more, basically enhanced versions of the regular super mutants which have nothing regular about them haha. |

| Ah I see, looks like the info about them is separate. Anyway here's a quote from the same wiki:
Towering above any player character, at about 20 feet tall, the behemoths are the greatest threat to humanity found among the Super mutants. There are only five behemoths to be found in the game, although reports of their sightings continue through dialogue amongst the Brotherhood of Steel.
These super mutants are the oldest and strongest of their kind. As well as being many times larger than any other humanoid creature, due to brain degradation, they will not speak; instead they will make monstrous roars. They are usually armed with an almost unrealistically large fire hydrant mounted on a large pipe; other than that, they also use their enormous fists. Either way, both weapons are heavy-hitters, and will cause major damage against any enemy smaller than them. They carry a cage made from shopping carts on their backs, used to carry off captured humans to be mutated or devoured later.

| That was precisely what I saw, but there's no other bits of info other than that.
Although that should suffice as answer, given his question mentions them being older and all that. |

| That still doesn't tell us anything, other than they are some of the oldest mutants
Marcus in New Vegas is one of the oldest if I recall correctly, but he isn't a behemoth?
I'm curious now _________________ - My YouTube - |

Which answers the OP's question. Whether or not they were kids exposed to FEV or if they were just really old/excessively exposed. |

| in fallout 4 there not as a big and the fire hydrant is as big, im leaning more towards the children theory because we havent seen any intelligent behemoths |

I think shrinking them was a gameplay decision seeing as they were sometimes inside building in 3 clipping collision and as for Intelligent Behemoths i think it was mentioned due to brain degradation they only roar _________________ |

| It's a different variant of FEV virus. It's only the capital wasteland super mutants that becomes behemoths due to old age but are less intelligent than any super mutants. _________________ |

| looking it up on the wiki it seems to be different reasons boils down to different strand of fev for fallout 3 - Spoiler:
These super mutants were created in the "Evolutionary Experimentation Program," the experiment assigned to Vault 87. The modified strain of FEV used to create these super mutants resulted in a new strain of super mutants which, in addition to becoming sterile, grew larger and stronger as they aged.
For fallout 4 might be spoils - Spoiler:
This strain of super mutants is totally unrelated to the West Coast and Vault 87 breeds, but they are seen caging up prey and bagging up their organs and limbs, similar to Vault 87 mutants. The Super Mutants encountered in the Commonwealth are in fact failed FEV experiments created and disposed of by The Institute, much like Synths. thats Confirmed for Fallout 3 but information incomplete for Fallout 4 but it just may be a unfortunate byproduct _________________ |
