Has anyone else in the heat of battle tried to melee but ended up torching yourself to your own molly or blowing yourself up by your own grenade? Its infuriating trying to melee, I thought with this new grenade throw mechanic I will finally use explosives in my playthroughs but I just end up reloading multiple times from blowing myself up! I eventually just unequiped my grenades all together.

A few times but I was wearing power armor with over 1000 DR so it was k.

I haven't had any accidents but I got in a situation in a basement where a person had a freaking minigun and I was only in Leather Armor. So after dying and reloading and I snuck up and threw one down the hall and blew her leg off!

I actually keep melee'ing when i wanna throw a grenade....

Its a clever way but they should have just put grenades at G like other games do....way easier

Never blew myself up, it was always overkill. I meant to melee them to death when they were low health, I end up throwing a frag behind them and boom. What a waste.
But indeed it is annoying. I wanted to remap grande to one of my razer naga keys, but since it's coupled with melee I can't do that until mods.

Quick-press the key for melee, hold it in for grenade. Once you get used to that, it isn't bad.

I always try and slow walk in Diamond City by holding alt, but that makes me blow up the place. Hopefully the New Vegas control scheme will wear off soon from my memory.

Agreed. A mod called Project Nevada did that and it was soooooo much easier...

i was in cover and tossed my grenade, but it bounced off the object in front of me and ended up getting blown to pieces

All my deaths so far has been me blowing myself up.  

I almost never carry grenades because I fear this.
