| It kinda like it, but I kinda don't, limits the modding potential a bit, but I'm sure, us modders, can find away around it. |

| As I figured out while making my many Mass Effect/etc companions, the easiest way around the 'limit' voice dialogue imposes on custom quests is to look for generic/open-ended responses to things.
You can believe that within the 13,000+ lines of dialogue each PC gender has, there will be plenty of "Sure/No!/What?/How?/I can't let you do that!" type replies that could apply to any number of situations.

| Protagonist always reacts to enemies, whenever he fights or just notices them. "Woww, calm down you freak!" and so on. That really kills the immersion, although it's not as bad as the fact that we have no idea what our character is going to say in the dialogue, we're limited to "Sarcasm", "Doubt", "Hate newspapers" and... Glassing someone. What does that mean anyway? I know we had the wheel in Deus Ex: HR as well, but at least we knew what exactly Adam was going to say.

That would make sense the first couple of times you encounter raiders or something, but over the course of the entire game... I'd get tired of that too. |

| Well I like the new dialogue system its dynamic. Like Todd Howard said, "You can walk away whenever you want, shoot them in the face if you want." Which kind of explains why there is a wheel instead of a list. In order to do that you need total freedom of your movement keys, and mouse or analog sticks if you play with a controller. Ever played skyrim and be sitting there talking to an npc and then an enemy shows up and you have to sit there and whack the tab key (or whatever button you set to 'back') to get out of the dialogue, but in the time it takes the enemy has gotten up and got a few shots in by the time your exited out? Or ever been playing fallout 3/NV and got stuck in a dialogue loop and had to use console commands or load a previous save if you didn't know the command to get out of it? Yeah neither of those will be a problem anymore in fallout 4. So yeah I like the wheel.
As for the dialogue being shortened to "Yes" "No" or 'sarcasm' doesn't bother me either, if there was too much of what the PC was going to say on there it'd take up quite a bit on your screen and ruin the scene, in my opinion. Now before you go and say "But mods can make it smaller" they could but then you'd have to strain your eyes to read it. I've also never had a problem figuring out what my character in games like Mass Effect would say from the simple choices I was offered so that stuff has never bothered me and probably never will.
So yeah over all, I like the new dialogue system and am all for it.

| Well, if the dialogue for the PC is really just "Yes" "No" and short stuff like that, I've no doubt that there'll be a modder trying to "fix" it as soon as the Fallout 4 GECK comes out.
Personally I don't mind the player having a voice. Sure, it takes away from the role-playing if you want to voice your character yourself (I know that I always do that, and so do many let's players), but it could be worse. And with the way Skyrim's dialogue system was, it just makes sense how it is in Fallout 4. |
