I personally prefer fast traveling, as I find it tiresome to walk to places. I also usually go on the console and type in "tmm 1" as I hate having to discover a place before being able to fast travel there. How about you?

I'm such a sucker for immersion, that I actually downloaded a mod that disabled fast travel.
Sure, it's pretty inconvenient being crippled in the middle of nowhere, surrounded by raiders to my right and deathclaws to my left, but I enjoy that decisive uphill struggle. It just adds to the severity of whatever situation I get myself into in the Mojave.
In other words, I prefer to walk.

Well in Fallout 3 I use FWE so fast travel is quite limited. Walking is pretty much the only means of traversing the capital wasteland until you get the motorcycle you receive at the start repaired. It can be a pain for some but I personally find it to be a fun challenge.
In New Vegas, if I have yet to discover the place then I just walk there as I prefer playing these kinds of games with minimal console command use. However, if I discovered the said place already then I'm more than likely going to use fast travel.

If I'm feeling adventurous I'll walk, random encounters are cool and you never know what loot you'll find in the wasteland. Usually I fast travel though I don't have the patience to walk most of the time, and if I'm walking to my destination I'm likely to not save for a while and if my game freezes then I lose that progress and my sanity.

I also downloaded a mod that disables fast travel. It makes the game much more interesting, and you begin to realize how much you take for granted. I admit sometimes it can be boring, but that's why I install mods that add more npcs, random encounters, etc.

I never fast travel under any circumstance when playing.
The reason being that it makes the wasteland seem more like a real place and connects you to the world, if you teleport everywhere then the distance between Goodsprings and Novac for example means nothing, they might as well be right next to each other.
It also potentially extends the length of a playthough 10 fold, if you use mods that make the wastes much more interesting like AWOP or MMM then this can be very good thing. you can blast though these games at a lightning pace if you want to but where the fun in that?
The biggest thing for me though is that these maps are actually pretty small, you can run from one end of the map to the other in a very short amount of time, this is especially true in New Vegas where the maps is heavily divided by mountains and invisible walls. having to actually travel makes things like a trip to Vegas seem like a real adventure, its even better in fallout 3 where you have things like DC, the first trip into DC and getting back without fast travailing is amazing to me as it seems like traversing a dangerous war zone (with the right mods) you don't get that if you teleport out.
Of course i am also a fan of mods that add fast travel in a more "realistic" and less overpowered way. The Motorbike in FWE and the mobile truck base are really fantastic examples of this, as although i think fallout 3s world is interesting enough with mods to travel without it getting dull, the same can not be said for New Vegas if I'm honest, and that's coming from someone who vastly prefers FNV to FO3.
I coc myself everywhere when not playing though.
Perhaps that was a little to long of an answer but there you go.

Oh yeah, I also use a fast travel in interior cells mod, because if I didn't, I probably wouldn't be able to find my out from dungeonish locations.

In Fallout 3 and Skyrim I enjoy the old fashioned way, just looking at the abandoned buildings, the atmosphere, the people you run into on the way in between towns or villages. But in New Vegas there isn't much to see, it looked so barren and uninteresting but like every other player I was forced to I really don't see a reason to not fast travel in NV.

I prefer walking, but I will fast travel sometimes to dump loot after a dungeon or if I don't have a lot of spare time to play IRL.
It's jsut so much fun to actually walk everywhere; so many random encounters happen that add some cool variety. My first couple of games, I fast traveled everywhere and missed these. It was cool finding them all on subsequent playthroughs.

Here let me give you a quick story.....
"I was doing a playthrough of Skyrim and the challenge was to walk everywhere. So I was 200 hours in the game and half way done......"
Morale of the story: Fast travel <3 Yeah seriously though fast travel is just more convenient. And if you don't like it because of immersion breaking there are alternates such as a van that you can take everywhere.

I generally prefer to walk rather than fast travel. And in New Vegas I use the Portable Tent http://www.nexusmods.com/newvegas/mods/36372/? mod so that I can bring my home with me. No need to lug loot a long way with that. And I like to wander aimlessly sometimes, just seeing what I run into.

That is a great mod by the way but I had some issues with it involving when I enter the tent I fall through the map and die, I fixed this problem already but it may still be a problem for people who are new to it.

Whoa, I didn't know that was happening. It never happened to me. Though there was one time when I loaded a save inside the tent and a bunch of burning vertibird debris spawned around me. It only happened with one particular save though. I've loaded saves in the tent many times before without issue. It was just that one save it happened to each time I loaded it, so I reverted to my previous save. I don't think that my issue is even related to the portable tent though because that same glitch happened to me once when I loaded a save in Victor's shack. Burning Vertibird debris spawned around me. I don't recall if it happened persistently or not with that save, I don't think I still have either save so I can't check.

I have no preference, When I'm with patience I'll walk when I'm not fast travel, hehehehe.

I prefer to fast travel to locations I've already discovered. The fact that time compensates for fast travel makes it alright for me in the immersion department. I'm not THAT much of a sucker for immersion anyways.

I understand immersion, and I try to make my game as immersive as possible. That being said I usually fast travel only to the locations I already discovered. Fast travel saves a lot of time. I like walking everywhere first to explore but after that it's mainly fast traveling for me.

If I'm feeling in the mood to actually role-play as my character, I'll have them walk, but I normally fast travel. It just makes things easier, especially with a crappy computer at my disposal.

Walking because in fallout 3 while walking to your destination you can see weird but funny random events

Same here, I just love the random encounter where a guy shows off by trying to defuse a mine but instead gets a face full of shrapnel.
