I was re watching some of the Fallout 4 videos that have been realised so far and it almost seemed like Fallout 4 might be set closer to the 2077 than New Vegas and Fallout 3. i got the idea this maybe the case because of the emphasis on the flash backs to before the bombs fell and some of the dialogue between the main protagonist and the mister handy whose name escapes me at the moment I was wondering if anyone had similar thoughts on this or even different ones would love to hear your thoughts

It could be possible. I remember reading in an article (I can't remember which article so unfortunately I can't post a link) for an interview with someone at Bethesda that the game would take place in 2275. I believe the article also said that the game takes place after the events of Fallout 3, which is impossible because Fallout took place in 2277. Perhaps it was a mistake on the interviewer or interviewee's part, but that's about all I could dig up.

Uhh fo4 starts off in 2075 and then stuff happens then you are in 2277 200 years after the bombs fell from what I can gather

It takes place mostly after Fallout 3. The intro starts in 2075 and the bombs are dropped in 2077. It was confirmed you are put in cryosleep for about 200 years. 2077 + 2000 = 2277!

If that's the case then I hope to see Doctor Li in the Commonwealth, considering she left for it post Project Purity. I don't know if it's just me but I like it when sequels/related games include older characters/nods to events that happened.

Yeah, the trailer definitely gives the impression we'll be getting some pre war playtime. It looks like they put a lot of work in making it possible to revisit places you might have seen before the bombs too.

@Skarus I very much agree with you, I hope to see Desmond Lockheart. Imagine seeing him in a new suit with upgraded animations and brand new textures, improved everything. Its like when I played Sly 4 for the first time and seeing Sly revamped. Nostalgia hit like a brick

Loved the rumors of your character being alive when the war happened and then being frozen and waking up exactly 200 years later. Well from the e3 conference sounded like the presenter said "You wake up 200 years late". Meaning that would be 2277 around the same time Fallout 3 right? So maybe your character's story is happening around the same time as the Lone Wanderer's.

This one's kinda interesting. Anyone wants to take a guess at how many pre-war themed mods will pop up in the first month of the release of the Fallout 4 GECK?

i think the idea that you get cryo frozen makes a lot of sense now that you mention it all the vaults were different and many were designed to keep humanity alive not just experiment on them like the original idea for vault 112 in fallout 3 where the inhabitance were kept in VR simulators pods to keep them alive. but it does beg the question was the cryo another experiment by vault tec and does dog meat come with you out of the vault or do we just find him, because from the videos he seems to know the player already? also I'm really excited about androids we are near the common wealth after all!

I was thinking that! I guess the vaults going to malfunction killing everyone except the main character... Hence sole survivor... It seems almost too much like a generic origin story if you ask me...

I'm pretty sure I recall there was an android or some kind of synthetic being being fought in the original trailer. You have to pay attention to the names on the bottom of the screen to catch it.

I had thought it was confirmed that he was cryogenically frozen but I guess I just assumed it and thought of it as fact.
Also, anyone else think the baby survived? Because they said his appearance would change depending on you and your spouse's looks, now that's cool but would be a bit 'meh' if it was just for the intro...maybe they escaped the vault before you did?

The title given to the protagonist make me think not unfortunately.. The Lone Survivor just sounds so final personally i don't think it'd make much sense if anyone else from the Vault survives. Maybe you'll get flash backs or something showing your family and how they looked or nightmares on how they would have if not for the war?

I'm thinking other people survived but were let out earlier than the PC as an experiment (Which this vaults experiment would be to see how people adapt after awaking after certain periods of time after the war). I'm thinking we wouldn't be able to name the baby and everything if they're dead. I'm thinking we'll see them in the game somehow, even if we find their corpses.
