I felt that Fallout 3 was somehow vibeless. I mean it had this dark atmosphere but to me it felt sort of empty. New Vegas seems much more fun and approachable I guess.

Fallout new vegas for all the features it has.. The only thing ilike about fallout 3 are the subways.

For me it's really close. I like both of them, especially Vegas because of the new features. On the other hand Fallout 3 had Liam Neeson and a wider variety of power armor, which has got to be my most favorite armor type in the franchise.

I prefer the setting and atmosphere of Fallout 3 but enjoy the features and lore of Fallout New Vegas. Overall I would opt with the TTW iteration of Fallout 3 because it enhances the Fallout 3 experience. Fallout 3 is the winner to me because of the atmosphere it had. I just wish it had the choices given to the player in New Vegas.

I liked fallout New Vegas more then fallout 3 because 3 you basically were always fighting the same thing super mutants.

To me, fallout 3 was more about the atmosphere, whilst new vegas had a great story line and good characters. I'd love to see fallout 4 have an even better atmosphere with vastly improved writing and story line.

I like New Vegas more only because of the amount of mods and improvements.

This one is a tricky one for me cause to me they are both totally different, FO3 had a much more serious tone to it, coming across ghouls in the subways, super mutants dragging off people and finding left over human organs that they were going to eat, cannibal towns, slaver bases, raider hang outs full of mutilated victims, the barren wastes, a over shadowing maze of the inner city ruins, FONV had non of that, the only serious tone that popped up to me in that entire game was The Lonesome Road DLC, but it was filled with a tonne of humor and i couldnt get enough of that, the missions, every thing, it was a nice break away from the depressing Capital Wasteland, and the scenery was also nice to look at (on times) but out of the two i would have to say in my opinion FO3 was better, in  my opinion, because it left a feel for survival and some times dread while playing, and thats what i want in my post-apoc games, FONV is a great game, and way more stable, but i love the harshness and bleakness of the Capital Wasteland, i hope they will bring that feel back to FO4 but who knows, but yeah deff FO3 in my opinion is my fav one out of the two.

To me F3 and FONV both have their ups and down. I love the story in F3, it was much more serious and seemed like a more grave matter than that of FONV but the weapons and armor in F3 were absolutely lacking to me and the scenery was just so gray it felt like GTA IV all over again. FONV on the other had to me has so many varieties of weapons and armor and you don't have to walk around in power armor all the time. The story also isn't just on one faction, you have multiple options and there are all kinds of different outcomes and the scenery is so bright and I can actually if the thing in the distance is a rock or a destroyed building. The enemies in 3 just don't have that much variety to me it was all either super mutants, raiders, or bugs and giant face eating lizards. In FONV you got the muties, fiends, all the gangs, NCR, Legion, you can make an enemy out of literally everyone and I think that is great. So to me I have to go with FONV.

I liked them both, but New Vegas was the better for me because of story. The game would crash from time to time; but saving often did a lot to keep this from annoying me. It took me almost three times longer to complete New Vegas as it did Fallout e.

Fallout 3 was more stable on my computer; but it didn't take me long to complete the game. The story seemed sometimes to be a bit rushed or forced and in my opinion wasn't as well written as that of New Vegas.

Both games were great in that they allowed the player to simply wonder around and look at the wasteland. I think this wondering around got me killed quicker in Fallout 3 than did it in New Vegas.

It largely depends on what aspect of the game I'm looking at. Fallout New Vegas never really felt like Fallout to me. It was too clean, too civilized, the wasteland too safe. I agree with author of Dust in that regard.

That being said, I do think that New Vegas was the better game, it incorporated features that Fallout 3 (without mods) lacked, like the survival needs (which is ironic considering New Vegas was so tame otherwise), had more memorable characters (outside of the father and Moira Brown, is there anyone who was both expansive and interesting in Fallout 3?), and had better gameplay.

Fallout 3 however, was a Fallout game in feel, it had desolation, it had crazy towns, it had crazy people, and it was far more beautiful in terms of the micro stories that the lead developer for the first two Fallout games talked about in an interview.

Once mods come into play however, New Vegas's preexisting advantages shine even more. Project Nevada and the MCM beat everything Fallout 3 had in the way of HUD and rebalance. Add on a superior story and companion mod product (other than MZC, Ties that Bind, and the AQFH trilogy Fallout 3 lacked anything that can hold a candle to Beyond Boulder Dome and Vanessa, let alone the Someguy Series). In addition mods such as Dusty Weather, IWS, and the Factions reloaded series can help make up for New Vegas's base game's blase wasteland

Without mods, Fallout 3 is Alien, New Vegas is Aliens.
With Mods, New Vegas is better

PS TTW (i.e. Fallout 3 with New Vegas gameplay mods) is almost good enough to make up for the lack of super mods for Fallout 3.

I much prefer Fallout NV to Fallout 3, although by no means do I dislike FO3. New Vegas added a lot of things game play wise that I felt it's predecessor was missing. I enjoyed having factions and after I've modded it to the best it can be, the New Vegas Strip is one of my favourite places in all of video games.

There's really something special about walking along in pitch blackness and climbing over a rock to see the Lucky 38 shining in the distance like a beacon. I love the mod that let's me run it as a real casino for that extra bit of feeling like you belong on the Strip.

I love Freeside and The Kings. I love that every single time I pass through I'm attacked by Freeside Thugs (the weakest of the weak). I love the messenger that the King's send to give me things when I come to town. I've never really had that in Fallout 3. The only places I return to frequently are Megaton and Tenpenny Tower but I never stay for long.

I can spend whole sessions in Freeside and The Strip alone, just relaxing and shooting thugs. It makes me feel like I'm the Sheriff, in town keeping the peace.

Mods such as Project Nevada also made it so much more expansive and gave it almost endless re-playability but even when it's simply the vanilla game, I could play for hours and hours. I feel like I'm crapping on Fallout 3 but I swear I'm not. I love it as well. I love the desolate, sombre feeling and the darker storylines that it gives me.

Although the maze that is the Metro Tunnels sometimes put's me off exploring that part of the map and that's something I was happy to see gone in New Vegas.

So to wrap up this wordy post, powering up New Vegas feels to me, like I'm coming home. The lights, the people, the casinos. It's all so familiar and welcoming that sometimes I don't think I'll ever leave.

I'm always partial to Fallout because of the setting. But NV improved on everything. Better animations, better crafting, better story etc! They're both great. But for gameplay elements, I chose NV but I chose 3 for environment. It's hard to decided sometimes!!

I like the atmosphere and the voice acting in Fallout 3, the combat AI is a lot better than it is in New Vegas.

Fallout 3 world space is much more immersive than Fallout: New Vegas's world space..

I never had much luck with Modding Fallout: 3, it constantly crashed..

New Vegas on the other hand, was much easier..

I loved the Alton Illinois mod for Fallout 3, despite some of the crappy voice acting..

The amount of overhaul mods for Fallout: New Vegas is cool, I was disappointed with all of the lag in the Empire wasteland mod..

I'm going to have to say fo3. My personal favorite part of a video game is exploration, and fallout 3 was waaaay more fun to explore than NV. The environment felt like it had more work put into it than NV,and it pulled off the post-apocalyptic look and feel much better. However, New Vegas did have better gun-play and a MUCH more interactive story.

I do prefer Fallout 3, as it felt more like the apocalypse to me. New Vegas was good, but it was all desert to me.
