im looking for a good character overhaul.

i have tried out fallout character overhaul, but i didnt really like that one

i have seen multiple new vegas redesigned mods with the numbers 2 & 3, i need some clarification whether its a new version & if it is whats the differences or if its a new version, & if you guys know some more?

also need to know what type of body mods will work with it or not

NV redesigned requires the meshes and textures of Fallout character overhaul, so its very similar, but much better IMO. NV redesigned also does a lot of little small changes that are awesome. And if you are going to get NV redesigned make sure you get #3

Also NV redesigned just does faces so you could do any body mod

NV Redesigned is damn good, utterly recommend that one. Like /\ said, you need to have FCO installed but make sure it's inactive in your load order.

As far as others go, not really any to note that I'm aware of. NVR is the daddy of them all.

Huh, you sure? I was under the impression it's incompatible with body mods, or has that changed with a later update?

Another nice one is Practical Portraits. It adds in details on the faces that are very neat. I use it in combination with NVR3 and it looks amazing. I also use Macintrol's Ghoul retextures. It is probably one of the best retextures out there for New Vegas. So, I would combine all three mods together and you get some real immersion.

FCO is also one of my favorite mods. I prefer NVR3 now, but FCO still has a place in my heart. I really just use it now for it's races and patches.


@Mickyjim I use it with Roberts and I don't have any problems. Atleast, NVR3 has problems with basically everything anyway lol.

Two mods that I would highly recommend are TFH Bullet Scar and TFH Rugged Race by TheFourthHorse.
The first is a lore/flavour mod that gives the player a partially healed scar where Benny shot you. There's a selection of scar styles and an optional plugin to give you a desiccated eye below your wound.

The second adds more rugged, beatdown by the world appearances to the player character, compared to the more smooth looks of vanilla player faces.

In both mods, these changes are brought about through new races added to the race menu.
Since they only affect the PC's head, that leaves you the option to play around with body mods to fit your tastes.
