Ok this may sound like a total scrublord question, but I have to ask it; how do I post screenshots on the forums? Like do I have to insert the picture file or something? Or do I need a picture social media doothingy to be able to link to a post and be all like "check out my sick sniper rifle"? Any help is much appreciated, mucho gracias in advance.

Typically, you upload it to a site like imgur etc and then use the message board link to embed it into your post! I think there are some directions on the FAQ! Goodluck to you!

Are you sure it doesn't work on Imgur because that's what I'm using! Use the link BBCode (message boards & forums). So like this image:


would look like this in text:

I can't seem to post my screenshots on imgur is what I am saying @benn33, not saying that posting through imgur is broken entirely as a whole

I would say try a different hosting site then. I'm not familiar with many others than Imgur. I'm sure there are a good few!

1.  Take screenshot (duh, I know)

2.  Go to http://imgbox.com/ and click 'Upload' at the top right, or 'Select Files' in the middle.

3.  Navigate to your screenshots.  They must be in JPEG or PNG format, they cannot be Bitmaps (.BMP) because those tend to be big files.  Select the screenshot you want to upload.

4.  Copy the BB-code, as shown here:


5.  Reply to a screenshots topic and paste that BB-code into your reply.  Then, hold down your mouse button and highlight the BB-code you just pasted, and click the 'Spoiler' button in the 'post a reply' bar.  Like this:


6.  Type in whatever you want your 'Spoiler Text' to be, for example "My Screenshot", and post your reply.  You end up with this:

Voila.  Your screenshots, shared with the world, in convenient spoiler tags that prevent them from being obnoxious screen-hoggers.

Then I'd recommend a program like FRAPS.  It'll take screenshots regardless of what your game 'wants' to do. You can configure it to take them in .jpeg format, and also record videos.

I'm not using Steam, my game is just installed to my computer from a disk from a place called BestBuy, and for some reason I can't screen capture with my start screen button and prt sc button on my computer on FNV but I can do that out of the program, I am just going to admit defeat for now and try to figure this out at a later date.

Thank you for the suggestions tho, even at 1 in the morning, trying to do tech stuff just isn't a good idea for me

That changes nothing since PC FNV requires Steam regardless if you bought a physical disk.

Fraps is 37$ O.O that is an expensive route to go for screen capture, and yes it is linked to steam but the f12 key on my computer is my wifi power button, if I hit that then it kills my internet and sends me into airplane mode so no bueno

Just change the key to something not in use? Also there should be a free version of FRAPS that while limited should have the screenshot option.

Yes there is a free version but it only captures in BMP format and I need JPG or something more universal, and idk how to change the screen capture key in Steam, will start investigating after my smoke&coffee break

Just open that bmp in Paint(or GIMP) and save it as whatever you want. For the steam key it's in the "In Game" section of the settings.

I still cannot take screen captures using steam or my computer's built in screen cap feature, maybe I need to restart it? :/

Use bandicam, or print screen button on your keyboard, then paste the picture into Paint. If you use ENB and have a sweetfx installed along with it, then press Print Screen and the picture will be saved into your game's directory.

Ok so my computer finally decided to cooperate with me to take the screenshots, now to use GIMP and turn them into JPG's or something imgur will accept, thank you guys for all your help
