So, I installed TTW the other day, thinking "Hey, I was getting real good performance with ENB on New Vegas, I should get around the same with TTW." How naive I am. Went from 40-50 to 25-35 with TTW. Maybe TTW is just a RAM hog lol. But I actually switched off my ENB (Wanderers) and immediately turned it back on. FO3 is UGLYYYYYYYY without ENB to me now. Its like ENBs have spoiled me, and its impossible for me to be satisfied with Dynavision tweaks to vanilla, it's just not the same. Does anyone else share this experience? I personally just can't play without ENB now, on Fallout or Skyrim.

I use realistic wasteland lighting. Makes the game look to fucking dingy, and enbs make it look like trash.

I've not tried TTW so I cannot tell you whether the performance hit you're seeing is normal but I am also spoiled by ENBs. I can't play without one anymore. But I'm also a performance Nazi and won't use an ENB unless I can get it to run at 60 FPS in most exterior areas. The ENBs that I typically switch between are:
-Dynamo (Edited the depth of field and switch between orange and default color palettes)
-Wanderer's Realistic Wasteland Lighting version (turn off ambient occlusion for huge performance boost)
-47 2.0 Performance version (sadly, I can't use this one for my let's play because dxtory's overlay crashes with this ENB)

Once you go ENB and still get full performance, you don't go back.

Fair enough. ENBs do require a lot of resources to run well--I'll give you that.

@jack3345 I can empathize with you. Just recently upgraded from a crap Intel HD 4000 laptop to a Y40 with about the equivalent of a Radeon HD 7770 in it, so not too bad. I remember having Dynavision as a huge clutch though.

@sunnydong Man 60 fps must be nice, usually get around 35 with ENB, but I'm sorta used to it. Doesn't dip too much at least. But how was Dynamo? I really liked the look of the Wanderers 1.0 ENB, is it comparable to that? And also performance? Just curious before I slap it on myself.

Dynamo has a lot of options and it took me about an hour to find exactly which settings I liked with it. I love the performance-friendly depth of field tru3th used in Wanderer's so I just slap it on about every other ENB, including Dynamo. I can't remember which SweetFX preset I chose but the best color palettes in my opinion are orange, default, and darker. Dynamo even has a minimalistic preset that should have a very small performance hit. It may even be comparable to just using Realistic Wasteland Lighting or some other lighting mod.
Dynamo ENB Orange Palette:
Dynamo ENB Default Palette:
Wanderer's ENB:

As far as my specific performance, I get 60 FPS everywhere with Dynamo and Wanderer's (with my edits of course; Wanderer's out of the box probably averages 50~55 and Dynamo 45~50) unless there's maybe 15+ NPCs in one area. If you want a performance bump, turning off ambient occlusion and depth of field usually yields good results. Some ENBs, like Wanderer's, still look great without the extra eye candy.

PC Specs:
i7 2600
GTX 670 SLI (Run Fallout on one card though)
8GB Memory

Edit: Added more screenshots to show different Dynamo color palettes
