Dragbody's awesome Danny Trejo mod brought me here. I spent most of my free time last year modding my games, making mod videos, and ultimately improving my game experience drastically. I have a video game page on Youtube called Mod Madness. You can find it by searching for "FNV MM". I'm hoping this year VGU can take my game to another level.

Oh man, I'm pretty sure VGU can improve your gaming experience and knowledge too. Welcome to VGU though and yes Dragbody's Danny Trejo is amazing. Follow the rules my man and you'll be liking the place full of greatness! Although I forgot to post my introduction because I got attracted to the other spots on the site my first time here. And join chats or make your own topics, I know I'll be glad to check out stuff! Enjoy your day man, cheers!
P.S. We're all Fallout addicts.

Hey, welcome to VGU! I think you'll fit in quite well here as we are all mostly fallout addicts. You also have a nice youtube page, which I am now subscribed to. I too was brought here partially by Trejo, but I'll think you'll find that the community aspect of this site is just as great as the awesome mods.

Well, as far as this site goes there are a few good mods in the public releases, i have given pictures and videos i posted my private mod and started a few topics and im not ranking up. I'm kinda disheartened by putting in work and not being ranked up. What would make this worth my time trying to get private mods?

Hey @Suredude, sorry to hear that you are feeling disheartened
Due to a busy January we are a little backed in the review process. Also unfortunately it's hard to account for every new member. Due to the influx and activity of new members, sometimes there are some moments where members would get 100+ posts and I'd be like "whoa where did this guy come from?" and finally notice him.
Also, upon recently we found out there were massive mod leaking by a few members of this community. Because of this, we had to hold stricter reviews for each member. This isn't your fault and I could understand your frustration (It took me more than a month to be ranked up too).
I ask that you continue to remain patient and I apologize for the inconvenience. Please try to remain active while we go through the process of all eligible members. The mods will be worth it. People such as Dragbody as uploaded mods bigger than the Fallout New Vegas game itself. Also, we are planning to release a big content for "VGU anniversary".
If you have any other questions or concerns or even suggestions please don't hesitate to ask.
Thanks.

hey man, ive been here for a couple weeks as well, and im just trying to keep posting. As they said, they are really busy trying to keep up with everything. Like i keep telling myself, keep posting quality content and eventually it'll happen.
It's like we're wondering around in the desert for 40 years until we get to the promised land haha

Well if it took 40 years to be promoted, someone isn't doing their job right lol.
If you stay that long to be promoted. I'll name my child after you.

Thank you for the response. That makes me feel a little better. I came to VGU so i wouldn't have to get the mods from a leaked source. Its no secret that there are mixed opinions about this site but i wanted to know what's really going on. Il stay, but i don't think i can give more without reciprocation.
Best regards, Suredude

Before the promotion was never this tedious. A lot of people didn't have to post as much and were promoted usually within a week. Some much less. Due to the massive leaking of our mods, the mod authors who spent countless hours on their mods stopped updating or removed their mods. It's unfortunate that the actions of few really hold back a community like this and it makes it harder for new members to have access to mods. The reason why mod authors choose VGU to upload mods is because we off the best security. For example, content is being stolen from each other on the Nexus at an alarming rate. If your content is stolen and you report it, it just takes too long for them to respond (if they respond at all). A good example would be how Drumber's Fallout Character Overhaul was stolen by Dracomies for his Fallout New Vegas Redesigned 3. You'd think a mod with 12K endorsements would get the Nexus's staff attention. Nope, Drumber nearly quit from the Nexus due to how slow the Nexus responded. We take mod leaking and theft very seriously. We respect our modders and their wishes need to be honored.
The mixed reviews you probably have heard were from the old VGU. We are the new VGU, the staff has been revamped, we hardly and rarely ban anyone (Maybe like 2 this whole past year). We try our best to listen to every suggestion and concerns. Thankfully, some people who hated VGU in the past and have given a new given the new VGU a chance and thoroughly enjoyed it.
So the question is "What do we do at this point?" Should we keep the same approval process but have our modders not update their mods? Or do we revamp the overall process to keep our modders comfortable again into sharing their content. It wasn't an easy decision. I can see why some people may not be happy with the new approval process but we didn't have a good alternate solution either. During the time when we were investigating the mod thefts, not many people were promoted. This caused a lot of potential potentials to buildup and it's another reason why promotions are taking a bit longer. Remember the modders here want to share their content but want to share it with what we consider "trustworthy" people. That's the reason why they release mods in VGU. We know this is an imperfect system but we do try our best that everyone gets an equal opportunity to be promoted.
I agree this overall process is tedious for new members and even for the staff. We do want share the mods. It is extremely frustrating how people steal and upload these mods to different websites. I would even go a step further and that 95% of the new incoming VGU members are honest and trustworthy people. I'd have no problems promoting them and giving them access to exclusive VGU mods. It's the 5% that ruin it for majority of the people. The staff here have to go out of their way to remove links from various sources. Fortunately, a lot of other modding communities respect VGU and are willing to remove VGU mod links without questions asked.
The end point is we had to increase the overall security to put VGU's mod makers at ease. This meant promotions had to take a bit longer. This way mod makers will continue to release their content instead of holding them. Than everyone wins.

I understand and i have followed a lot of your activity on different site threads. Anything you put on the internet is subject to theft or being used in an unauthorized manner. As far as copyright laws go Google, Youtube, and many other major websites break laws constantly with no reprimand. I'm a musician and i have been victim of internet theft so i'm well aware of the situation. As far as the Nexus goes i've been there for a few years and have no problems with getting a response from staff. That's unfortunate and concerning what happened to the mod author you told me about. Working in a gray area as we do doesn't help our cause. We say we don't profit off of these mods but in ways some of us do with advertisements. In short i've seen a handful of people leaking some of your mods and ive also seen the swift action taken by this site to remedy the situation. People just want these great mods and if they are truly free we should be able to access them. When i post my music to the internet i just accept that my music is making websites like Soundcloud revenue in advertisements and i don't get a dime. Unfortunate and just the way it is as of now.

Hello there and welcome to your new home! You've got some great videos and a new subscriber, some of them are really funny and well done. Glad to have you be apart of the great big family, and with promotion don't pay much attention to it. There's always something new popping up to talk about, or a new public release, thread chains; share a tune, true or false, or even Fallout... you know that one game, maybe you havn't heard of it? it's exhilarating you should give it a spin. You'll soon get caught up and forget about it, and eventually you'll just get hit with it and it'll be more of a suprise! just think of it that way... or don't? and you'll be A ok
Have fun in the wastes Suredude!

Thank you. I've learned a lot since starting the channel late in 2013. I started off with a bang then i removed all my videos losing 10,000 hits because i wasn't happy with the quality. A year later and im still trying to climb back up to the 10,000 hit mark. I dont pay Youtube to advertise for me so il always be the little guy but my subscribers are real Fallout fans and i've enjoyed entertaining them. I've met some great mod authors and have even made videos for some to use on their mod page. All in all its ben a great experience and a fun project to work on.
