| Hello GUNners It's that time of year! Welcome to the fifth annual Community Playthrough. The rules are the same as years past. Start a new character on or around Jan 1st and try to wrap up around the end of January. These dates are totally flexible. If you need to start late, go ahead! We're just happy to have you join. If you want to extend your playthrough beyond January, feel free! Again, the month-long framework is just a suggestion. Here is my character for this year: - Roland Bowman:
Here is his (and Jake's) backstory... - Backstory:
This is a themed playthrough based on The Dark Tower series by Stephen King. The names of Roland and Jake are taken directly from the characters by which they were inspired. Their path and bond will resemble that found in King’s story, but will be adapted to the context of New Vegas. The way Jake came to be in Roland’s path will be revealed, Roland will settle scores with many adversaries, and both will leave a permanent mark on both the Mojave and each other.
ROLAND
Roland was the embodiment of duty—the kind of rugged soul that would ride a “death before dishonor” declaration to his grave with unflinching integrity. He had been well served over the years by the advantages of strength and cunning combined with rigorous survival and combat training during his adolescence. However, no matter how many battles he won or enemies he conquered, Roland knew time was the villain he would never best. As it had every soldier before him, time left Roland always staring down the barrel of his eventual obsolescence.
As he knelt before the man in the checkered coat, the shame of his capture weighed more heavily on him than the proximity of death. “Is this it?” Roland asked himself. Though he did not mean to ask if this was the moment of his death. Rather, he wondered if it was the moment that time finally caught him.
He blamed the Khans. If not for them, things would have been different. As an NCR ranger who remembered all too well the tragedy at Bitter Springs, Roland could not suffer himself to be responsible for the deaths of yet more Khans. The bitter cocktail of hesitation, remorse, and uncertainty he swallowed upon encountering them and the low-level gangster with whom they traveled had nevertheless brought him to his current moment. Complete helplessness; bound and kneeling before an arrogant, serpentine Strip thug.
The irony of his situation did not escape Roland. He had served as an NCR ranger taunting and narrowly avoiding death for decades. Since his unceremonious departure from the rangers, he had often worked as a caravan guard and bounty hunter. When the caps were right, he would also take on courier jobs. And therein lay the irony—the job Roland worked the least and that generally posed the least risk would be the job that did him in.
And what of his time in the rangers? Had his decision to leave been the moral high road he sought, or had it been a calculated error? Certainly his relationship with Hanlon had soured in an unimaginable way. It all went back to Rattletail and Roland’s disagreement with Hanlon’s methods. He saw before perhaps anyone else that Hanlon compensated for a lack of warfare competence with campaigns of disinformation and deceit. Roland believed adamantly that Boulder City could have been saved had Hanlon chosen to defend the Dam differently. The Legion could have been not only defeated, but disheartened and deterred as well.
Yes, the NCR had beaten the Legion, and Hanlon was hailed a hero. Yet Roland puzzled that so few saw how Hanlon’s winning strategy of sacrificing an entire settlement fueled the Legion’s confidence. The NCR had only won through desperation—a “fool me once” scenario that would not work again and that made them appear vulnerable even in victory.
Being a man that inspired loyalty, Roland’s possession of these thoughts made him a liability in Hanlon’s eyes. Never mind that the two had decades of history together. President Kimball and General Oliver were enough for Hanlon to worry about; he didn’t want a younger, stronger ranger not afraid to still join his men on the front lines waiting in the wings to take his place. Thus Hanlon began sending Roland and those closest to him on assignments bordering on suicide-mission level danger.
This led Roland to his dilemma. Should he boldly speak out against a man hailed as an NCR hero thus sowing the Republic with distrust and fear? Or should he simply acquiesce? After all, his individual contributions to the NCR were not worth the instability he threatened to bring if his budding rivalry with Hanlon continued to grow.
His departure from the rangers thus seemed a necessary thing. Surely he could not be so arrogant as to believe the NCR wouldn’t survive without him. To the contrary, with Roland out of the way, Hanlon would have no further reason to expose those who admired Roland to increased risk.
After leaving the rangers, life as a caravan guard and bounty hunter was all too easy for Roland. He wondered if the simplicity of his current life relative to that of a ranger would dull his instincts. If his capture by the Khans was any indication, Roland’s fears were almost certainly warranted.
As Roland knelt, the man in plaid waved a gun and said words meant to be clever. As he spoke, Roland rotated his wrists and felt the ropes burning his skin. The man standing over him was smug, but Roland could also see he was a coward. After all, over the years Roland had known men who could elicit fear. None of them, he reflected, would have found it worthwhile to provoke someone incapable of response nor attempt to impress cohorts with senseless banter when actions would suffice. “His day will come sooner than he thinks,” Roland mused to himself as the shiny gun pointed his direction.
Roland never heard the gunshot despite it carrying over a large distance. His seemingly lifeless body was thrown into a shallow grave atop the hill just outside Goodsprings. Nevertheless, this was not the end of Roland. With the help of a few unexpected allies, Roland was revived and put on his path to vengeance. The man in plaid fled across the desert, and the old ranger followed.
JAKE
The boy was alone and frightened when Roland found him. The desperation of Jake’s condition was deeper than most could have seen at first glance, but Roland had learned to read the look on a man’s face long ago. Having seen hopelessness and consuming void in the eyes of men at death’s door more times than he could count, he knew the terror in Jake’s eyes was something similar to the fear of death, but something different at the same time.
“This kid isn’t scared of dying,” Roland thought. “He’s scared of living.”
To be certain, the fear and confusion Jake was experiencing when Roland encountered him was the darkest he had felt in his life. Before waking up outside Goodsprings Source, the last memories Jake had were from a world distantly removed in both time and location. Jake didn’t even recognize his own body. If asked, Jake would have said he was ten years old. Isn’t that what every boy would say who hasn’t had an eleventh birthday? However, the person he saw in the broken, dirty glass scattered in the Mojave desert was older by at least five years. “This might be what my older brother would look like,” Jake thought, ”if I had a brother.”
Frightening as it was, this evidence of the passage of time was Jake’s reassurance that he wasn’t actually in hell. He had died, after all. He remembered that well. The searing heat combined with the feral ghouls from which he had fled corresponded roughly to the flames and demons about which he had heard the preachers warn during his childhood in New York City. As much as he’d hated spending one of his two weekend mornings in church instead of at home watching cartoons, Jake’s mind went to the crackers and grape juice he’d been served in those peculiar church ceremonies. In his starved and dehydrated state, even the body and blood of Jesus sounded appetizing.
“Is this what the dead do?” Jake wondered. “Live in fear of the afterlife?”
On the one hand, Jake did not fear death. He was already dead. On the other, he strongly felt his sense of self-preservation and fear compelling him to certain behaviors. “Fight or flight” he’d heard the instinct called in his fifth grade science class. Without a weapon or the skill to use one, Jake had resorted exclusively to flight.
By the time he found his way to Nevada Highway Patrol Station, Jake believed he’d seen it all. Geckos, bloatflies, ghouls, criminals, radscorpions, and troopers with guns. Jake surely wasn’t meant for this world and he wouldn’t survive it. Locking himself in the utility closet of the station seemed an act of cowardice and caused Jake to feel a small sting of shame, but no option seemed a sufficient alternative.
Jake believed he would die in that closet--starved or found by whatever demon sniffed him out first. As fate would have it, that demon’s name was Roland.
Please post below if you intend to join and share your screens/story along the way! If you want to use the same profile template I used, here you go... Have fun and happy gaming! _________________ |

| I might not be very flexible with time but I'll give it another go. The last time I participated was three years ago. How time flies. Anyway here's my desert ranger chick Romero, who I will be calling "Romie" for short. - Spoiler:
- Key Traits:
+ Resourceful + Athletic + Lucky shot + Survivalist + Skillful in combat ++ Wild Wild Wasteland
- No prior hacking or lockpicking skills - Doesn't like to speak, can come off a bit socially inept at times - Take no prisoners attitude - Extremely susceptible to addiction - Has a bunch of regrets -- Built to destroy
Goals for this playthrough is to make a convincing chaotic good and (possibly) NCR character. I hardly ever complete this game for the NCR, so this is definitely going to be refreshing.

The only real "challenge" is finishing the game within 1-2 months. It's a yearly thing we here at GUN do every year to actually play through the game instead of modding it all the time. (i wrote we in italic because i havent participated the last years) |

| So, after few years I am going to participate too. This time I want to finally complete Vegas main story (yes, I still didn't ). So, here's my character sheet and bio - I will go with my ol' good main that was drastically overhauled with self-ported assets. - Courier Profile:
- Bio:
Bio
Shadd is Vault 101 Dweller. After escaping from home to save his life and find father, he learned to survive in cruel Capital Wasteland. Soon after leaving the Vault he went to investigate Supermart but was catched by resident raiders. He was saved from captivity by man named John - he shot right in the head raider's leader who was going to rape Shadd.
After this they traveled together; they found Shadds father and was witnesses of his death. After experienced trauma Shadd entered to romantic relationship with John. They completed father's work and found a way to turn on Purifier. Shadd was ready to sacrifice his life but somehow he survived after getting extreme radiation doze. However, some of his organs failed after recevied damage so now he has few robo-mechanical prothesis (eyes, lungs and spine).
At some point they decided to take a break and have a rest in Megaton. They broke up with John because of incident with John's former lover, Moira Braun. John decided to join Brotherhood of Steel and became a Knight.
In the final combat with Enclave John was injured - wound was fatal. But his old mutation saved his live - doctors figured to give him hight doze of radiation and provoke process of regeneration. Shadd was very frightened when he realised that he could to loose his beloved man forever so they became together again.
Some time later they figured out that someone hired killers to kill Shad. To save him, Lyon's Brotherhood sent him far away to west. Shadd lived in Mohave four years; when he felt lack of caps, he found Courier job. But this job turned out very complicated...
Personality
He is very vulnerable, kind and naive person. He reacts very painfully to injustice and violence, so he hated Legion as soon as he saw what they did to Novak. He lacks physical strength, but he is very smart and have skills in medicine and science and very good at shooting from conventional weapons. On the other side, he uses a lot of strong language, loves vulgar jokes, can be very naughty when it comes to dealing with dregs of society and be very cold-blooded as a sniper.

| Had to completely reformat everything, so my Fallout New Vegas installation is as fresh as a newborn. I don't know if I'll ever quite mod it at the level I had it, but I do want to play again. |

| Since i've never finished New Vegas or any of its DLC, i've decided to participate in this years community playthrough as well. ... Just like @Allnarta So, count me in @dragbody ! Here's my couriers profile: Brandons Biography is pretty basic since this is the first time i was trying to come up with a story for a character in any videogame. I've never done any real roleplaying in any videogame and just followed along the basic story and took the obvious and best choices. And thats why I will try to not skill into specific skills or attributes just to get the best results this time playing. Big Thank You to @Piperoffarts for creating the facemask for my courier! |

Now for my current progress so far: Ghost Town Gunfight - Code:
-
After getting patched up by Doc Mitchell, Brandon decided to go on a gecko-hunting trip with Sunny Smiles in order to see if he still got his skills that he learned with the NCR in Los Angeles after getting shot in the head. When arriving in Goddsprings again, Brandon overheard an argument between Trudy and Joe Cobb about a guy called Ringo hiding in the Goodsprings Gas-Station. Cobb wants to kill Ringo and everyone protecting him. Brandon decides to help Ringo and due to his extrovert nature he manages to convince everyone in town except the old stubborn easy pete to defend ringo and the town from the Powder Gangers. Chet even hands an old, but well maintained AKS-74 to Brandon. After the fight is over Ringo tells Brandon to meet him at the Crimson Caravan Company for a reward.

My kind of Town Part 1 - Code:
-
Travelling down the road from Goodsprings, Brandon stumbles upon the old "Jean Sky Diving"-Shack. Inside he finds a pair of pristine and sealed tactical gloves, an odd place to find these, but definitely worth keeping.
After arriving at Primm, Brandon finds out that the NCR is fighting against a group of powder gangers that took over the town. Lieutenant Hayes says that he's in dire need of supplies to fight of the Powder Gangers and wants to retake the NCRCF. After leaving the Lieutenant's tent it starts to rain heavily and it's getting dark outside. After searching through the abandoned and ruined buildings around the tents for shelter, he remembers the hideout behind the Mojave Express, but he would have to fight through the Powder Gangers in the town.
Climbing down the ladder he finds two dead bodies and his hideout in ruin. The only hint he finds is a note with something about a guy called "Carlos" - Screenshots:
I've probably done more writing for this post now than actually playing the game. The next posts wont be as long.

| - Prologue - Above Snakes:
This is a story told to me a couple of years ago by a radio host when I visited New Vegas. It has stuck with me ever since and I have walked a long path to piece together this story and verify it. While the histories of the wasteland lie in ruins often like the lands themselves, few stories ever get remembered and told for years to come. But the tale of a lone ranger who walked the wasteland in search of what could have been her killer reminds me of the old tunes you'd hear on Radio New Vegas or Mojave Music Radio, or one of the old spaghetti western movies that were produced before the Great War. A tale of someone who walked the wasteland like a fragment of the grim reaper themselves, cheating death with a sleeve that held an almost endless stack of cards, revolver in hand and a lucky charm hanging over them at every turn.
Our story begins in a cemetery close to a humble town called Goodsprings in the Mojave desert. The ranger, at that time a courier, had been taken there to be executed. Reason? A platinum chip she had carried, intending to deliver it to Mr. Robert Edwin House, a man who had been alive since before the Great War, isolated in his Lucky 38 casino tower. It was there that a man known as Benny, a hot shot in New Vegas who ran The Tops with his buddies, along with a handful of Great Khans, had intended to kill her, shooting her in the head twice and leaving her body in a shallow grave.
But that was not the end of the ranger's journey or her mission. A securitron found and lifted her out of the grave and brought her to a nearby doctor in the town of Goodsprings, Doc Mitchell. Taken by surprise, the good doctor managed to save the young woman from death just in the nick of time. The doctor stayed up all night long, watching to see if she would finally awaken and that his efforts were not in vain.
She was a fairly lean woman, somewhat soldier-esque in build, couldn't be more than her late twenties. Her hair was a dark brown tint and her skin was fairly light tan from being out in the sun for so long, some sunburn was visible.
It was at noon that the lone ranger awoke, dazed and confused. The good doctor felt a sigh of relief and managed to get the ranger back on her feet, taking a couple steps at a time, using the old rorscach tests and testing her aptitudes. It was there that the good doctor noticed that she didn't talk much, didn't speak a word, was as silent as a church mouse. The doctor had at first assumed that the bullets had damaged her frontal lobe, but after a psychological analysis, had quickly realised that silence was a likely result of childhood trauma, but maybe she just didn't like talking very much. That was a possibility. The doctor gave her his old Pipboy 2500, a relic he didn't find much use for, but the ranger would come to find it almost as useful as a third arm and off she went.
- Act 1, Chapter 1 - High Plains Drifter:
The first stop the ranger made was to a nearby general store. Here she met Chet, the owner of the store. From what Chet told me, they got along rather nicely with her leaving the general store with some new equipment, a recharger rifle and some new more suitable clothes. Chet told me that you could tell by the look on her face that she despised the vault suit the good doctor had given her. While her face was deadpan and expressionless majority of the time, when you saw her with a frown, you could tell that she was not a lady you wanted to mess with, oh no.
Mere minutes after that, the ranger stopped by the town protector and hunter, Sunny Smiles, who promised the doc that she would help the ranger equip her spurs again, literally and figuratively, although she only needed to do the latter. Sunny took her outside, shot a few bottles with her. I ventured to Goodsprings so I could ask Sunny how her accuracy fared, maybe gather some context, but I was told by Chet that Sunny died in the gunfight that happened a day after the ranger awoke.
Oh, so about that. This is where the story gets rather interesting. Feeling a debt to the town, the ranger promised that she would protect them had they ever be attacked. That debt was paid off rather aptly, with the ranger finding a man named Ringo hiding in gas station above Goodsprings. The town had been hiding him there after he pissed off the Powder Gangers, an organized group of NCR prisoners who ended up taking over the correctional facility just east of the town. The ranger had agreed to help the man, asking nothing in return.
And so she went off trying to gather support for Ringo, but nobody except Sunny and the doc agreed to help. It seemed to me they were all too afraid to wrong the Powder Gangers and reap the consequences of doing so. When the Powder Gangers finally appeared at dawn the next day however, the town was armed to the teeth. How you might ask? Well, it was an exceptionally timed ambush that made them fall upon their own weapons, co-ordinated by the ranger of all. All of the gangers fell like flies, but there was but one tragedy. Sunny Smiles had been killed. She ran out of ammo and had to resort to using a cleaver, got killed when one of the Powder Gangers got lucky. Trudy, the town bartender, never forgot about this, it haunts her everyday from what I could tell.
Anyway, the ranger managed to defend Goodsprings and piss of the Powder Gangers quite a bit. One of their most esteemed members, Joe Cobb, was among the few of them that bit the dust that day. Needless to say, they were out for blood, and the ranger was their priority target.
While being thanked and congratulated by the town's residents, the ranger searched every pocket of the Powder Ganger's bodies, desperate to find something that would aid her in her search. There gleaming in the sun lay a .357 Magnum revolver embedded in the claws of Joe Cobb's cold dead hand. It took some cleaning, but the ranger picked it up and looked at it as though it reminded her of easier times and placed it in her leather holster, a "B" stitched into the leather of it, although it was unknown to the locals what it meant.
Chet told me one of the locals asked her before she left where she learned to shoot so well. Her shots almost seemed to guide themselves to the skulls of her enemies. Quiet, she turned to the road before turning around a final time and saying to him that it was an "lady luck and an old friend". I think I know who this old friend is.
The debt had been repayed, and she went off like a wisp in the wind, hunting her captor through sand, concrete and dirt. Every footprint, every witness account, every accomplice now lay in her sights. The Powder Ganger scouts who found themselves camped on her path were laid to waste and the hero who saved Goodsprings was now on a warpath, leaving a trail of blood at every turn.
Next stop for the lone ranger was Primm, a small settlement south of Goodsprings. It was home to the Mojave Express, her employer. Alas, once she got there, it had been taken over by ex-convicts. An outpost of NCR troops had been held up just outside of Primm yet once the ranger got there, she had quickly realized that they were outgunned and thus couldn't liberate the town. Many NCR troops had warned her of it's danger, but without saying a single word, she casually yet carefully walked into Primm, all alone.
Many of the NCR troops watched on as she took steps over the bridge, watching her every movement in pure disbelief of the gall she exhibited. It was almost beautifully executed how swift and methodical she was in disarming the mines. She made a regular NCR troop look like a bumbling idiot in comparison. It was something that the rather inexperienced troopers had not seen before in a stranger, bravery. But some considered it foolish and rash.
All of a sudden there was gunfire popping like fireworks. After a few seconds there was nothing but silence, and the ranger was presumed dead by the troopers who watched on. Yet it was not the ranger who fell to the ground, but the criminals who had taken it over.
On the same day, she ended up liberating Primm and it's Deputy. He told me that when she freed him, she said but not a word, yet her face was clenched red. He had assumed that she witnessed the corpse of another Courier who had met a similar fate, Daniel Wyand, and that had guided her rampage through the casino. Either that, or she was pissed off at having to save his dumb ass.

On behalf of Lt. Hayes, Brandon travels to the Mojave Outpost to ask for ressources to help defend Primm from any more powder gangers. On his way there Brandon cleared out a Jackal Gang hideout and managed to scrap some of their weapons and ammo. Brandon convinces Ranger Jackson to send reinforcements to Primm after doing a small job for him. At the bar, Brandon met a young woman called Cass who is drinking to forget about her lost caravan. Maybe Brandon can help her out in a couple of days since he plans to meet Ringo at the Crimson Caravan Company anyways. But for now, Brandon travels back to Primm and Lt. Hayes gives his troops the order to take over Primm and bring back the law again.

After surviving his gunshot wound thanks to the help of Doc Michell, Sam grabbed his gear that hadn't fully been taken by the people who shot him. His armored courier outfit and poncho, his regular blue shirt, his old brush gun with a couple of rounds,45. pistol with 5 magazines, and his backpack. Only thing he didn't have was the chip and his caps. He exited into the main town, meeting up with Sunny for target practice to make sure his aim was fine after the injury. He also picked up a old advertisement calling for bounty hunters near Primm. Might be a good job to take...
- Goodsprings 2:
He helped Sunny clear the wells from Geckos, meeting a odd girl named Hope Lies while heading back. She was looking for a plant able to suck up rads faster than radaway. He wouldn't mind the extra help. He also came across a injured dog that he helped with a stimpack named Bullets, must have been a old NCR dog considering the gear on him. With new companions in tow, Sam entered the bar only to come across a confrontation with a powder ganger and the bar owner...

| - Act 1, Chapter 2 - On The Road Again:
After saving Primm and repairing ED-E, the lonesome ranger though she'd stop by the NCR outpost. Maybe grab a drink, something to eat. That massive monument caught her eye though. It was recognition of the merge of the Desert rangers into the NCR. She stood looking at it for a while before even entering the outpost itself, gazing at it like it was some alien artifact out of the sky.
Once she finally made it inside the outpost, she went to the bar and ordered a drink, just a bottle of Scotch. At this point, she had been indulging in her vices once again. She had been getting drunk a lot recently, often to numb the pain of the cuts and scrapes she got during gunfights, but also to gain the courage needed to find and kill the man in the checkered suit who had killed her. She'd never been out on a revenge mission before, but nothing would excite her more than putting a bullet through the skull of that scoundrel.
She had always respected the NCR, but had never imagined herself signing up with them. Staying stationed at an outpost didn't seem interesting to her, but exploring the Mojave and staying on the move was something that motivated her, fueled her. Being a Courier was not an easy or even satisfying job, but travelling the wasteland was what she loved.
Looking to be of help, she asked around the outpost if he had any work. Just two. To clear the mantises off the roads at the front of the outpost and check Nipton as they had recently gone dark. She set off soon after.
First job was the mantises. That was easy for someone of her skillset, she reported back and got her pay, as well as some of the NCR troops putting in a good word for her.
The second was Nipton, and the day had come to an end. On the way there she managed to outsmart an group of bandits looking to ambush her, leaving a trail of corpses. Once she made it to the town of Nipton, it was already too late. The town had been burned and destroyed by the Legion. Citizens, all dead, crucified or crippled.
The ranger took a long gaze at the aftermath, disgusted by what she saw. She met a man who goes by the name of Boxcars there, crippled and half-dead in agony. Despite her lack of sympathies for for gang members, she did not kill him. Instead she helped him null the pain with some Med-X and set off to find his friends whom the Legion had captured. In her mind, nobody deserved that fate, not even criminals. A bullet to the head is the only sufficient punishment.
While wandering around the town she was met by Vulpes Inculta, the lead of the frumentarii, Caesar's spies. They told her that they would spare her, not because of anything other than the fact that she would deliver the message. This infuriated the young wanderer and knowing she couldn't survive a frontal assault, prepared a trap for them as they left Nipton. Frag mines and powder charges were placed and Inculta walked into them, leaving the stragglers to get gunned down from a nearby vantage point.
After looting the nearby houses for supplies, she returned to the outpost to report to Ranger Ghost the bad news. She recieved her pay and left, but not before sending troops to Primm to hold the town.
After a day of journeying to Novak, she thought it would be a good idea to ask the residents there if they saw the man in the checkered suit pass through. There was that damn robot there too, Victor, the securitron who found her in the cemetery. Only one resident there knew, but he refused to tell her unless she helped him get rid of a cult of ghouls in the Repconn HQ near the town.
Upon arrival at Repconn, she was greeted with a pack of nightkin who were there as well as feral ghouls. Jason Bright, the leader of the cult, had tasked her with helping him achieve a great voyage to the stars using the rockets at Repconn as their transport. Desperate for answers, she agreed and ensured their journey, whether she liked it or not.
While she was at Novac, she also helped a man named Boone seek revenge on the old woman who sold his wife and unborn child to Caesar's Legion as a slave.
Next stop was Boulder City, where the NCR had been pressuring some Great Khans who were holed up there. Little did she know that the Great Khans who had helped Benny capture her were there too, outnumbered and outgunned.
The ranger's impatient and reckless nature was seen in full force here. She charged in with a full marshal of NCR troopers and slaughtered every last Khan, just in time to save the hostages that were there. Once again, the NCR were surprised by the ranger's ballsiness, she had proven to be a rather useful ally.
To some however, this was nothing more than a massacre. The ranger didn't even attempt to make contact with the Khans. Mojave justice was laid down rather harshly.
The ranger was once again left following the trail. The man who shot her was not among the Khans who were there, but had merely tasked them with the job. He had already left for the Tops casino in New Vegas. Her only lead? The job offer note and an engraved zippo, one that once belonged to the man in the checkered coat.
The search was nearly at a close, but the journey? That had only just started.

After his stop in Primm, Brandon remembered the Note he found in the Goodsprings Saloon about a Bounty Hunter job near Primm and gets his first contract from Steven Randall.
He then travels to Nipton to scout out the town for Ranger Ghost, but finds it burned to the ground and the whole population wiped out by a legion squad lead by Vulpes Inculta. Even though Brandon isn't usually the type of guy to make rash decisions, he gets extremely angered by the situation and shoots down the legionaires including Vulpes. From this point on the Legion becomes Brandons enemy besides his rival Benny.

| - From Goodsprings to Primm:
"After learning about the situation with a man named Ringo, it was natural for Sam to lend a hand and help the town be rid of the powder ganger threat. They ambushed the gang, Sam using most of his brush gun ammo to take them down easily. With some more caps in hand and a lead that led to Primm, he made his way towards the town.
- Primm and more:
"The town of Primm had been taken over by Powder Gangers, forcing Sam to sneak in and take out a few in the street. Once he had made inside one of the buildings, he met up with the man in charge of the Mojave Express here, and learned that the deputy that was taken hostage might know more about the man who shot him. Sam and Hope infiltrated the building, grabbing the deputy and taking out more gangers. He told them the man was heading toward Nipton and Novac, and the town still needed a sheriff. Even though Sam had his misgivings about the NCR, they seemed better than going to the NCRCF for a criminal sheriff. A new objective in hand, Sam made his way towards the Mojave outpost, while also making a short stop to speak to the bounty hunter nearby.

| - Act 1, Chapter 3 - Hang 'Em High:
The courier had made it to New Vegas at last. The trail of bodies that lie in her wake however were surely noted by several of the factions that held territory in the Mojave. She had cut through the sands of Nevada, leaving nothing but corpses.
Upon arrival, she had little choice but to head through Freeside, a poor and economically deprived slum connected but denied entry to the Strip, Mr. House's territory unless they submitted to a credit check. The lonesome courier had found herself short on money, so she took up jobs in Freeside to pay it off. Some jobs she took conflicted with her morals, some jobs she took she wasn't proud of, but revenge had motivated her. To come so far, only to lose it all in the final moment, she wouldn't allow that for herself.
She also stopped by Mick & Ralph's, a general store in Freeside. Allegedly they could've forged a fake pass for her, but they would need a permission from the King first. The King was a gang leader. The Kings, his gang, ran Freeside almost as well as a co-ordinated government, but the ranger decided that helping a gang run Freeside was something she wouldn't want to partake in.
Quite a stir happened when she showed up to the water pumps however. Thirsty, the ranger went to go grab a drink from the water pumps. When told by a Kings gangster that she had to pay a tax to the King, she shot and killed him in cold blood. This granted her a dangerous reputation to have in Freeside but a rather useful one. The savages who would try to mug or kill her were scared off when they realized they were talking to the Grim Reaper of the Mojave, long black duster and shades.
The Kings however would routinely try to attack her. For a day or two she worked as a guard for the Van Graffs, a weapons dealer in Freeside, but their second-in-command, Pacer, tried to antagonise her will she was on duty, resulting in her being reassigned a new task and removed from guard duty. She preferred it this way.
While at Freeside she also managed to indulge in an old vice of her's. Gambling. She loved the thrill of hitting the slots, roulette and blackjack. It made her feel alive.
The ranger would also help out the NCR, hoping they would extend the same courtesy. She saved their monorail at Camp McCarran from being destroyed by a Legion spy and she had helped them acquire intel from a captured Legionnaire, quite a rarity considering that Caesar's Legion's soldiers often committed suicide before capture.
It was at this moment that the young woman saw an opportunity. She bought an NCR uniform from a merchant and disguised herself as an ordinary trooper. She managed to ride the monorail to the Strip and even managed to convince the guards that ED-E was a "source of visual intel that would prove substantially useful in the war by examining the recordings and surveillance captured of various Legion outposts." She could be witty, at times.
Once she made it the Strip, she was taken aback by how beautiful it all was. The neon lights and glowing signs were something that she had never seen before in her entire life.
Now it was time to take revenge. She changed back into her gear and off she went to the Tops to confront the man in the checkered suit.
They kept her weapons at the counter, but the ranger had a few tricks up her sleeve. One being a silenced pistol she hid on herself, another being her jaw-dropping figure and charm that only really exposed itself in rare occurences. This was one of them.
Benny was taken aback by her presence as she walked up to him, being careful to take slow steps and a steady gaze, not allowing him out of the tight grasp that was her cone of vision.
"Am I seeing a ghost?" he asked one of his nearby bodyguards, but his face went pale when he was told that the figure was not merely a figment of his imagination, but the grim reaper herself.
There was a pattern of slow, steady steps that ended before the Ranger gave Benny a hearty smile and pressed herself up against the railing.
"When you shot me, you ran off so fast I never got your name." the Ranger said as she masqueraded pure anger. Her deadpan, often emotionless voice and demeanour was now seemingly swapped for a charming and light-hearted, promiscuous and flirtacious manner.
The man who shocked. Was he dreaming? Had an apparition come back to haunt him? Was this woman real and did she have some sort of strange attraction for pain and death, or was it just his pain and death?
"Is it wrong to want a guy who'd shoot me in the head?"
Benny took a sip of his canteen and laid eyes upon the woman once more. He wasn't sure whether it was sympathy or lust but he felt remorse for his actions, unusual for him. He also felt a great deal of respect for her after he heard what went down at Boulder City.
"Girls like bad boys. And you've been downright awful."
Benny let out a sharp laugh and a grin. The two exchanged flirts and quips for a few minutes before the Tops chairman decided to walk with her back to his suite.
Walking down the halls of the Tops with Benny, the Ranger felt degraded. Was she really going to do this just to get a chance to kill him?
"What's the hold up?" Benny asked, raising an eyebrow and peering over at her.
She turned her back and pulled out a canteen full of Rum and Nuka and flushed it down in an instant with a bottle of Scotch and some Vodka. No way was she going to do this sober.
"Oh nothing, just telling ED-E to wait outside."
She walked into his bedroom. It was just enough time for the alcohol to kick in. The lights turned off.
Nobody was more pleased more than Benny. He thought he finally escaped death. That was until the Ranger's warm hand on his shoulder turned into a switchblade through his heart and a scream that never made it out of the room. The blood oozed all over the mattress and spurted out all over the young woman. She was covered in blood, but she didn't enjoy it as much as she hoped.
The Ranger fell off the bed onto her spine in the struggle. For a while she just layed there, staring at the cracked and unstable ceiling. A tear came to her eye. She curled up into the corner of the room as a flood of tears fell into the palms of her hands.
What had she become? The same murderers she hunts? Was revenge worth it?
The Ranger took the silenced pistol out of her duster pocket, which now laid on the bedroom floor a pile with the rest of her clothes. The pushed the pistol up to her temple as the tears fell onto the bloodstained carpet.
She pulled the trigger, but the weapon was jammed. Feeling disheartened and depressed, she cleaned the blood off of her in the nearby bathroom. She came out, lit a cigarette and got dressed, ready to hit the road, but she noticed a gleaming light coming from the nearby room.
The door was kicked open as she searched it from top to bottom. But nothing was there of importance apart from a securitron by the name of Yes Man.
From what she gathered from a quick conversation with the robot, it was reprogrammed by Benny to help him take over the Strip from Mr. House, hence why he needed the Platinum Chip.
With this new found knowledge, the Ranger now paid Mr. House a visit with the platinum chip. The locals watched on as she entered the Lucky 38 casino, the first person to walk inside for many years.
Mr. House had been far too dismissive of the Ranger's efforts. She tried bartering for a higher cut, at least enough so she could get out of the wastes and start a new life as a travelling merchant. But House wouldn't budge. To him, she was nothing but a means to an end. She refused to give him the platinum chip.
In retaliation, House turned on the weathered desert warrior with his securitron guards. She managed to survive however. How she did is anyone's guess. Lady Luck was definitely on her side.
She pushed forward and opened the chamber leading to where the body of Mr. House lay, kept alive purely by his life support system. But surprisingly, she spared him after cutting off his connection to the Lucky 38 systems, rendering him powerless. Was this a fate worse than death? You decide.
Not wanting to leave jobs undone, she also paid a visit to the bounty hunter Caleb McAffery while she was there, putting an end to his life for the Garret Twins.
She didn't embrace the dark path she was on, but she found herself failing to stray from it. The bullets had changed much more than she thought, much more than she liked.

Some sidenotes: -I sadly didn't take as many screenshots as i wanted to take during these two segments, thats why the writeup is a bit short as well. -I've picked up Daryl Dixon as a companion, but i did not include Camp Searchlight in the playthrough nor did i make screenshots of it, because my game crashes everytime i enter the town. -And i've switched from base 47 ENB v2 to Big Iron ENB with some personal tweaks (seen in the last two images). Screenshots will probably be more deteiled from now on. (47 ENB v2 is a bit too washed out imo).

| I see players having detailed faces (either through facemasks or character overhauls) and beautiful ENBs and here I am taking part with a mostly vanilla environment. First time posting so hopefully this community playthrough would be my foray to being active in this site after years of lurking. _________________ You can call me Darby. | So, while my main character always travel with his permanent follower, similar to Dragbody's case, I decided to add his profile and bio too. It's a bit longer because he had tougher past than Courier Six in my case. - NOT Courier's Profile =D:
- Bio:
John was born in Rivet City. His father died before son's birth; mother never told boy who he was. One day John found at home old Brotherhbood of Steel token which indicated name "Michael Ross". Mother was forced to tell John true that his father was BoS Knight who passed away during patrolling DC when supermutants ambushed their squad.
At 16 years old John survived accident when one of City Lab junior workers overtuned barrel of radioactive waste on him. He had severe scars over all right part of his body after that and developed some kind of mutation that gives him immunity to most of virus diseases.
When he turned 18, rebel teen got a fight with mother and decided to leave city and go to Wasteland. He joined raiders gang that was known as one of most cruel and perverted gangs on all DC wasteland. But their "rule time" didn't last long - soon their lair was attacked by Paradise Falls Slavers.
To save gang and own life, gang leader called Black Widow gifted few of her people as a slaves to Paradise Falls. John was unlucky to be one of them.
After he reached Paradise Falls, things became even worse because slaver's leader, Eulogy Johns, immediately liked him a lot. John spent three months in this nightmare, but evetually found a way to escape.
Two long years passed while he recovered from severe trauma; but after that he even managed to get a family. After four years of living in Megaton, they got the flu. John wasn't infected because of old mutation, but both, his beloved wife and little daughter, didn't make it.
Devastated, John left Megaton and went to Wasteland again, don't knowing what to do next. Exactly same day he saw from skyscraper's roof how figure in Vault suit was confidently moving to the Super-Duper Mart and it was obvious that boy doesn't know what he will find there...
- Personality:
John has will strong as steel - otherwise he wouldn't endure all disasters he got in his life. He has high morality - when he was teenager, he wanted to have everything, but tough challenges teached him very well what is bad and what is good. He droinks and smokes a lot, but doesn't use chems at all. Despite very traumatic experience, his sexuality is quite strong - he loves to get and give pleasure in a bed. It's hard to say from brief wiev, but he is very faithful and caring person in relationships.
