| - Mojave Outpost:
"Having found his way past bandits and critters, he reached the Mojave Outpost, hoping to get help for Primm. He took on a job to clear the road from Ranger Jackson, and another to check on the town of Nipton. Once the ants were cleared away, Sam stopped back in Primm to deliver the good news for Primm to become a part of the NCR. Wasn't the option he wanted but it was the best he could help with. With that settled, he made his way to Nipton, only to discover the Legion agent Vulpes and his men had raided the town and submitted them to a lottery for their lives. With anger filling his heart, Sam and Hope used mines to ambush the squad as they left before picking the survivors off. They reported the news to the Mojave Outpost, and began to make their way towards Novac. "

| 1: Kick In The Head - Spoiler:
Awakening was hard and painful. I felt sick and nauseous. Old man who sat right after me helped me to get up and sit on the bed. First thing what caught ,y eye is that I got strange obstacle all over my left eye sight. Like... Broken glass? He asked my name, but there was nothing I could answer. Who am I? Seeing my confusion, he gave me paper which turned out to be Courier Contract. According to it, my name was Shadd. Name sounded very familiar, so it seemd that it indeed was me. Man who introduced himself as Doc Mitchel, told me that I was shot in the head. As turned out, he is local doctor and he actually saved my life by removing bullet from my temple and stitching me back. Doc checked my condition one more time, gave stuff to me that was found around me - it was old duster, a hat, pistol and few ammos - and said that I am ready to go my way. And I didn't know where should I go and what should I do. Only thing I could certainly know is that I need to know what happened and who done it to me. There was no other way than go and find someone who may give answers. At that moment all I knew about myself - is that I am Courier Six.

| Chapter 1 - Goodspring HospitalityIt was supposed to be a simple courier job. All he had to do was to deliver a package to the Strip and that was all, the route was even laid out for him. It was an easy job for such a high pay. The last thing Derek Nam expected was to be abducted, shot, and left for dead by some guy named Benny and a crew of Khans. Of course, the last thing he also expected was to survive a shot to the head but there he was, lying on a bed treated by a friendly old man. The old man introduced himself as Doc Mitchell and gave Derek the greenlight to be released, including a pip-boy of his as a gift. - Ain't That a Kick in the Head:
At the Prospector Saloon, Derek met a local hunter named Sunny Smiles who offered some firearm testing to see if the courier is still right in the head. After shooting a few bottles, Sunny asked him if he's willing to hunt some geckos with her offering some 5.56 rounds. Derek accepted the request, needing the ammo for his rifle. The trip was a success, with the duo even saving a villager from being mauled by the geckos. - Back in the Saddle:
After the hunting trip, Sunny told Derek to meet with Trudy, the bartender of the saloon and an influential figure of the town, as she would want to know about Derek the visitor who survived a headshot. Derek returned to the saloon but found Trudy arguing with an impatient man. After the man left the shop, the courier introduced himself to Trudy and asked about what just happened. The bartender explained that the man belonged to a gang called the Powder Gangers. The Powder  Gangers were convicts that took over the NCR Correctional Facility and attack roads leading to Vegas. Cobbs demanded the town to hand over a man named Ringo, a survivor of a caravan ambush by said Powder Gangers. Although Trudy had let Ringo hide out in the Goodspring gas station and refused to give him up to the gang, she wished that the survivor leave the town and take the gang with him. Feeling sympathy with Ringo, both being survivors of an ambush, Nam decided to head to the gas station, and was instantly greeted by a nervous man with a gun to his face. Derek was able to lessen the tension and offered to help Ringo out in facing the convicts. Ringo was doubtful of the duo's chances and said that he'd feel better if others like Sunny were on board. Sunny jumped at the chance to help Ringo and Derek was able to convince the townsfolks to ambush the Powder Gangers when they arrive. Derek wasn't able to convince Easy Pete that he's able to operate dynamites, which was fine by him, he's never that good with dynamites and he prefer guns all the same. The townsfolks, Ringo, and Derek took cover with their weapons ready in wait of the Powder Gangs. Once they're in view, the defenders open fire, peppering the thugs with bullets. In thanks for his help, Ringo gave Derek some of his company money and told him to come to the Crimson Caravan for the rest of the payment. Before setting off for Primm, Derek found a note on the corpse of Joe Cobbs addressed to a man named Eddie. It seems that Cobbs found the location of Ringo and discovered the NCR military's plan to retake the correctional facility and was planning to give the note to Eddie after they make a move on Goodsprings. Derek made note to himself to give the note to an officer the first chance he gets but for now, he must leave the town and find Benny. - Ghost Town Gunfight:

| 2: Four years after - Spoiler:
Before proceed to serching person who tried to kill me, I decided to stay at Goodsprings for a day to recuperate. Trudy, barkeeper, kindly allowed me to stay at one of empty room of Prospector Saloon. I went out to the street for take a fresh night breath. I still got so many questions and almost none answers. Who am I? Why my body is so... Strange? Where did I got these mutilations that led to having prothesis? Why even someone decided to shot me in the head? Is it connected to my courier contract and what I carried? Suddenly I noticed that someone leads to saloon. I didn't see him for a days I spent in Goodprings once, so he certainly was a stranger. When he came closer, he headed straight to me. For a second I was scared; but I didn't even have time to unhoster my gun as he cuddled me at once. It was a tall man with long dark hair and bright-amber eyes. He had severe burnt scars all over his right face part. Somehow I had a strange feeling that I know him, and know very well. He hugged me tightly and quietly said: -I missed you, Shadd. His touch was so warm and tender that it was obvious: I was very important to him. By my confused look he immediately understood that I don't remember him. Seems that I missed him too. I examined his face more: he was very handsome. His eyes fullfilled with anger and pain at a moment when he saw my scar and broken left eye. -Who did this? - asked he. -I don't know. -Where is your pip-boy? - he looked at my left hand. One brief memory appeared in my head - terrible pain, me crying out in agony and a lot of blood. -Is it because of that I have this wound? - I rolled up my sleewe and showed deep scar on my lower arm. -We will find them, Shadd, - he said unwaveringly, - We will find them and I'll show them a hell on the earth. He embraced me by his hands - this move was so faniliar to me. I reached to him and we merged in a kiss. I missed you so much, John.
P.S. Sorry for this episode turned out to be too fluffy-romantic =D |

| Chapter 2 - Primm AdventuresOutside of a few Powder gangers and some hungry critters, Derek faced little threat on the roads to Primm. Once he made it to Primm, he was greeted by a soldier who commanded him to turn back. Confused, he asked why and the soldier explained that convicts had taken over the town and the military only has enough available men and resources to contain them but not to free the town. The soldier added that any other information can be provided by Lieutenant Hayes, the commanding officer of this outpost. A perfect opportunity for Derek to let the military know of the operation. Derek made his way to the officer tent in order to speak with the Lieutenant. Hayes made no confirmation about the operation against the NCRCF but noted Derek's capability (appearance wise) and willingness to join. Once Derek brought up his experience in the military and dealing with Powder Gangers, Hayes then relented and allowed the veteran to be part of the mission, telling him to meet up with Sergeant Lee at the given coordinates once he makes the time. Before heading to the coordinates, Derek snuck into Primm, trying to gauge the size of the convicts. He found three hostiles outside which he took down with ease. He remembered from the soldier that the locals are holed up at the Vikki and Vance Casino so he entered the casino with his hands up to mean no harm. He was greeted by Johnson Nash, the head of the Primm branch of the Mojave Express. Nash told him about Derek's courier job with the platinum chip and mentioned that Deputy Beagle should have information about Benny. Only problem was that Beagle got himself captured by the convicts at the Bison Steve Hotel. Since the NCR military has its hand tied up and the locals not willing to lose any more people to the convicts, it was up to Derek to get the deputy to safety. He entered the Bison Steve and cleared the first floor of any hostile. He was able to free Beagle but the deputy said that there were more hostiles in the second floor and fled the hotel, promising to tell Nam about information gathered about Benny. So Derek went up the second floor and cleared the room of hostiles. Once he returned to the Vikki and Vance, Beagle told him about the men who ambushed Derek, that they'll be heading to Novac to meet with a contact there. Beagle also asked him to bring law and order back to the town, recommending either an incarcerated Sheriff in the NCRCF or martial law by the military. - Dog Rescue:
Now, Derek wasn't exactly sure about either options being the best for Primm, the sheriff was incarcerated for a reason and martial law doesn't sound fun. However, the sheriff at the NCRCF does provide him an opportunity to join the military retaking of the prison. Once Derek met with Sgt. Lee and a few soldiers, the operation was ready to begin. Lee told Derek about their missions which were to retake the facility and to kill Eddie, the leader of the Powder Gangers in the facility. Explosions were set off as troopers rushed through multiple openings, easily overwhelming the surprised convicts. At the visitor center, Derek found a man in a cowboy hat just sitting in his seat as if he was continuing on his day while soldiers and convicts were fighting each other in the background. The soldiers ignored him as they moved on to other parts of the facility but Derek stayed behind, interested in the man. The man introduced himself as Meyers, the former sheriff of a town out west. He claimed that he had no part in the riots that lead to the takeover of the prison and that he's just waiting for the military to take back the facility. Meyers said that he's incarcerated for taking the law in his own hand a few too many times and, while he's not sorry for his actions, he's willing to finish out his prison term. Interested (and agreeing with Meyers's style of vigilante justice), Derek offered him a job as Sheriff of Primm which Meyers accepted only if he gets an official pardon. After the discussion, Derek quickly joins the rest of the soldiers to the Warden's office, where Eddie resides. The convicts at the Warden office were better armed than the ones Derek faced before and tried their best to resist the soldiers but they also fell by NCR bullets, including Eddie. The operation was a success with only a few troopers injured but none killed. Sgt. Lee told Derek to report back to Lt. Hayes at Primm which Hayes noted. Finally some good news for the NCR, at least out west. - And the Law Won:
Meyers wanted an official pardon if he is to be the Sheriff of Primm, the best option was to get a pardon at the Mojave Outpost. The walk to the outpost was filled with some other escaped convicts and Jackal raiders, but they weren't too much of a threat to Derek. At the Outpost, he asked Major Knight, one of the commanding officers of the outpost, for an official pardon of Meyers to serve as Sheriff of Primm. Knight was against the idea, believing that someone affiliated with the Powder Gangers should not have any official position so close to NCR territory. Derek explained that Meyers was nearly done serving his sentences and that he had zero involvement in the hostile takeover, just waiting for the NCR to show up and re-establish order to the correctional facility. Knights relented after Derek's explanation and decided to grant Meyers an official pardon, noting the importance of Primm as a trading hotspot to California. While at the Outpost, Derek decided to take up some odd jobs to kill time while the pardon is being processed. Ranger Jackson mentioned about clearing the roads of large ants to get the traders moving. When Derek asked why none of the soldiers are clearing the roads, Jackson explained that he cannot send troops out due to strict orders. Derek cleared the road of ants anyways, much to Jackson's delight. While Jackson cannot officially contract mercenaries for such a job, he discreetly gave Derek some items as gratitude, including AP 5.56 rounds and a new M16 rifle. Up on the rooftop, Derek encountered Ranger Ghost who's worried about the state of Nipton as she seen smoke rising from the town and with no traders coming from Nipton. Although she's not connected to the town (and judging from her tone, may consider it a shithole), a town is a town and she suspects that it could be hit by raiders. Knowing that Nipton is on the road to Novac, where Benny's contact is at, Derek offers to check out Nipton once he gets there and to confirm any suspicions. Returning to Primm with an official pardon on his hand, Meyers accepted the role as the town's new Sheriff and promised to do the town good. Now that law and order returned to the other New Vegas, the residents exited the Vikki and Vance to return to their homes. Derek followed Johnson to his residence to ask more about the courier job. At Johnson's office, he found a broken eyebot on his desk and Johnson said that some courier dropped it off and he believed that it contained some secrets. Johnson couldn't fix the robot and offered it to Derek if he could fix the robot. After some tinkering, the robot went online and joined Derek's journey. Next stop, Nipton.- The Mojave Outpost:

| @DontShootTheMessenger i've gotta say that after being registered for 3 years without making a post, this is a great start for you on the forum now!! I love the fact that you're using my PMC-Mod! Nice to finally see someone use it  I've only played for about 30 minutes yesterday, because i was a bit exhausted after work, but here are some shots from Boulder City: (I will need to do some more reshade tweaking i think. sometimes Big Iron ENB makes the game and especially faces look like an aquarell-painting  ) Boulder City - Code:
-
When entering Boulder City, Brandon hears gunshots coming from it's ruins. While trying to see whats going on, he gets stopped by Lt. Monroe. It turns out that the Great Khans are holding 2 NCR-Soldiers hostage and Brandon convinces Lt. Monroe that maybe he could go in and find a peaceful solution. Brandons plan is successful, he gets more information about his enemy Benny and Lt. Monroe lets the Great Khans go after freeing the hostages.

| I wanted to make Chapter 3 contain the events of Nipton and Novac, including the Come Fly with Me quest but I only made it to Novac in the short playthrough I did so a short one for today. More details on Novac coming next chapter, hopefully. Chapter 3 - Nipton MassacreOn the roads to Nipton, Derek and ED-E were ambushed by a couple of Jackals waiting by the Nipton Road pit stop. However, the duo were able to fight them off with minimal injuries and pressed forward to Nipton. Derek wondered what would await him and ED-E. The only clear culprits he could think of would be the Jackals, the Vipers, or the Powder Gangers. The Jackals operate in the fringes of NCR territories and he knew from experience that they're common in the southern portion of the Mojave. However, the Jackals are small in number and are unorganized, they can't pull off such an attack, usually. The Vipers are more numerous and are around the Wasteland while the Powder Gangers do have the explosives to do serious damage. These raiders seem far more likely to explain the smoke from Nipton. Nearing the entrance of the town, Derek noticed Legion banners and unfortunately, found his answer. He remembered fighting those slaver bastards during his time in the military, he knows of their fighting prowess. A Legion presence this far west of the Colorado means trouble. Whatever happened to Nipton, it was too late for Derek to stop it. An excited man in Powder Ganger suit came running from the entrance, boasting about how he won the lottery. He ran past Derek and ED-E before Derek could ask the man any further questions. Drawing his M16, he and ED-E made their way to the townhall where Derek noticed a squad of Legionnaires lead by a man in a coyote hat and a bunch of men tied to crosses. The leading man presented himself as Vulpes Inculta and that he would let Derek go in order for him to spread word of the Legion's atrocity in the town. Derek felt nothing but anger at the request of this monster. How could he agree to what this glorified raider in football pads say? The only thing he's spreading is his bullets and started to open fire at Vulpes. A burst of 5.56 rounds hit their mark and Vulpes crumpled to the ground. ED-E follows suit, frying some of the Legionnaires and mongrels that were with Vulpes. In less than a minute, the fight was over and Derek stood at the town center, breathing heavily as bodies of Legionnaires and dogs were strewn across the floor. He quickly went to the men on the crosses, hoping that he could free them. Unfortunately, it was too late, the men were too weak and if Derek tried to cut them down, they would die regardless. Apologizing to each victim, he took out his pistol and put them out of their misery. He went into each building of the town, looking for any survivors. In one house, he found dead Californian soldiers and took their dog tags, promising them that he'll turn them to a military base. So far, the only living things he found in Nipton were Legion mongrels and wild animals and he was beginning to lose hope of finding any survivors. When he entered the last building (the General Store, ironically, the closest building to the entrance), he found a Powder Ganger with broken legs. The convict was not happy to see him, complaining how the Legion smashed his legs and now the Grim Reaper of the Powder Gangers is here. However, the convict, Boxcar, explained to him what had happen when Derek offered to give him two Med-Xs. Boxcar also said that a few folks were taken by the Legion, likely to be sold as slaves. Derek offered to free them to which Boxcar told him to go ahead. Once the conversation with Boxcar was done, Derek walked back to the Mojave Outpost to deliver the bad news to Ghost. The Ranger was surprised by the Legion hitting this far west but thanked him for giving her closure to the fate of the town, even if all it did was to put her more on edge. - Entering Nipton:
The journey to Novac had some hiccups but aside from a Viper ambushing ED-E and Derek with a grenade launcher, it was a mostly uneventful trip. The man and his robot encountered a traveling merchant and purchased some supplies to hold them down until they reached the town. It was getting late when Derek entered Novac, hopefully the motel office is still open for him to get a room. Entering the Dino Dee-lite Motel, he was greeted by a friendly old lady, Jeannie May Crawford, who has a room available for 100 caps. Derek asked her if she had seen a man in a checkered coat passed by and she confirmed it. Crawford mentioned that he and his hoodlums were at Novac not too long ago to speak with Manny, one of the town's security details who guards the town during the day. It's likely that Manny is the the contact that Beagle overheard prior to his capture. However, since it was already night and late, Manny is likely already asleep and Derek was already tired and wanted a comfy bed to sleep on after the past day of sleeping on bedrolls. He'll have to find him the next day. - Welcome to Novac:

| Chapter 4 - Novac AdventuresIt was 9 in the morning when Derek woke up. After getting himself washed, he put on a new pair of clothes, ate a breakfast of squirrel stew, and headed off to the Dino Bite Gift Shop where Manny should be stationed in according to Crawford. Also to stock up on any ammos as Crawford mentioned that the shop sells weapons and ammo in addition to the pre-war dinosaur and rocket toys (a gift shop selling guns, he already loves this town). Cliff Briscoe, the proprietor of the store greeted him and Derek purchased some ammunition rounds and a Dinky the Dinosaur toy from him (Cliff seems desperate the sell the toys so he might as well buy one). After that, he walked to the second floor of the shop where it should open to the dinosaur's mouth. A man with a 1st Recon beret (he recognized that beret anywhere, one of the most famous non-Ranger units in the military) was standing guard with his sniper rifle, he must be Manny so Derek called out his name from behind. Manny was puzzled to see Derek behind him but simply asked him why he's here. Derek responded with a question of his own, asking if he knew anything about Benny to which Manny replied with a maybe. Manny added that he will give him where Benny and the others are headed towards if the Courier could figure out why feral ghouls are coming over from the RepConn Test Site, adding that the ferals could force the locals out of their homes. Derek confirmed Manny's request and the conversation shifted over to their histories and later service in the Army with Manny talking about Boone, a fellow veteran belong to the First Recon who takes night duties at the gift shop. Interested, Derek decided to wait at night to meet Boone himself as Manny mentioned that the two aren't at the best of terms right now. At night, Derek headed to the gift shop to speak with Boone. Boone was surprised to see another face and told him to leave. Derek responded that he's new to this town and just wants to be friendly with the locals. This changed Boone's tone and the sniper asked Derek of doing a favor for him. Boone's wife was kidnapped by the Legion and he wants to know who in the town sold her out. Boone added that he told no one about his wife, Carla, being kidnapped and if Derek finds the man who sold her to the slavers, he wants him to bring out the man to the front of the dinosaur while wearing Boone's beret. Derek agreed to Boone's request and set out to play detective. The first person he asked about Carla was Cliff, who was just downstairs and was ready to close up shop. Cliff said that they never really interacted, just that Carla always had a negative look when she's in the shop. At Manny's room, Manny talked about how he and Carla always argued, which soured his relations with Boone. Manny also mentioned him trying to reach out to Boone when he heard about Carla's disappearance. Despite that Manny was a fellow veteran of the NCR, Derek noted that Manny seems to be so far the only one who had a lot to gain from Carla's disappearance but he had only interviewed two people, the investigation is far from over. Derek went over to the McBrides residence. Alice McBride mentions that Carla and Boone look lovely together while Dusty said that Carla doesn't seem suited for the frontier life. They don't seem to know about Carla's disappearance as noted by Derek. He asked Derek about the state of his business, having noticed a dead Brahmin and Dusty mentioned that every midnight, someone targets one of his brahmin and he doesn't know why. As it was almost midnight, Derek promised to find out who's responsible and headed out, rifle ready. For a few minutes, he saw nothing but then noticed minor distortions in the air. He raised his M16 and walked slowly, the distortion ignoring him and the gun. He heard some blabbering from the distortion and the motor of a minigun starting to turn. Derek fired one round at the distorted air and the distortion turned into a Nightkin armed with a minigun. He fired a burst from his gun and the minigun jumped from the Nightkin's hands. The super mutant ran towards him with his fist and Derek continued to fire until the mutant slumped to the ground. He searched the mutant's corpse and found a holotape talking about brahmins keeping him awake. Confused but confident that the Nightkin was the Brahmin killer, he gave the news to Dusty who was thankful of what happened, offering some brahmin steaks to the Courier. After the incident with the Nightkin, he went to Jeannie May Crawford's house as the motel office was closed. Crawford said that Carla was more used to the livings of New Vegas than life in Novac. Crawford also added that Boone thinks his wife was kidnapped but she thinks it's more likely that she ran away. This raised some suspicions to Derek as he remembered that Boone didn't tell anyone about Carla being kidnapped. Crawford may be the culprit but like with Manny, he has no concrete evidence to prove it. The next person he asked was No-Bark Noonan. While the rest of the town considered No-Bark to be some crazy old man who speaks gibberish most of the time, Derek noted that No-Bark's witnessing of an invisible chupacabra was partly true so perhaps this old man would have some more words of wisdom amidst his blabbering. When asked about Carla's disappearance, No-Bark claimed to have seen the whole thing, that molerat men were invading the town and shadows going to the main office. Now, Derek was ready to throw No-Bark's testimony to the trash but was interested in one detail of shadows at the motel office. He should check out the office right away. Thankfully, Crawford had retired to the night so the office was empty as Derek begins to search the office for any hints. He found a safe and, after picking it open, uncovered a bill of sale. Reading the sale, he found out that it was from the Legion thanking Crawford for the selling of Carla Boone. He found his evidence and walked back to the Crawford residence. Waking up Jeannie May, he told her that there was a problem in front of the dinosaur that she must check out. Confused, Jeannie May followed him to the statue. Once both of them made it to rock in front of the statue, Derek silently put on Boone's beret and Jeannie May's head exploded as a .308 round from Boone's rifle penetrated her skull. Back at the second floor of the gift shop, Derek returned Boone's beret and Boone asked how he figured out the culprit. Derek showed him the Legion bill and Boone nodded. Boone said that he would probably leave the town and hunt Legionnaires. Derek offered Boone to work with him, the two of them could kill more of the slavers. After some pondering, Boone accepted his offer. - Townsfolks:
Boone, Derek, and ED-E started their quest to the RepConn Test Site. The road leading to the site was filled with a few feral ghouls, which were easily brought down and bodies of dead ghouls in robes and piles of ash. It looked like a battle occurred around the test site judging by the energy weapons used by the ghouls. Expecting anything to happen, the team readied their guns and stepped inside the door. They were greeted by an impatient voice telling them to head to the laboratory of the building. More piles of ash, dead ghouls in robes, and feral ghouls were found. Despite the feral ghouls, the team was able to make it to their destined room and was greeted by a bald human male with a scratchy voice named Chris. Chris tells the team to meet with Jason Bright, the group leader, and refused to listen to Derek pointing out that he's human. Jason told the team that he's been gathering ghouls, both ferals and non-ferals, for the Great Journey, a plan to leave Earth for a paradise world where ghouls can live free from bigotry. His flock settled in the testing site but was attacked by invisible demons, seperating the ghouls from the ferals. Derek offered to take care of the "demons" and the team went to the basement where the "demons" were supposed to be located. At the basement, the team faced hostile Nightkins at almost every corner. Thanks to Boone's spotting, they were able to fight off the Nightkins. In one of the basement, they found a stranded ghoul named Harland who's been picking off the Nightkins with his hunting rifle. He promised to leave if he knows the whereabout of a member he has a crush on. Unfortunately, Derek and Co. found the body of the female ghoul during the search and Harland left the basement. With the "demons" gone, Jason's group were able to reach their destination and Jason explained to Derek and his companions on how the Bright Followers would begin the Great Journey, on the functional rockets in the test site. Chris told Derek of the materials needed for the Great Journey to begin. - Repconn Expedition:
The quest to find the needed materials started off strong. They purchased the thrust control modules from Old Lady Gibson at the scrapyard at the price of 500 caps (Derek tried to haggle the price down but unfortunately, his Asian genes failed him). Acquiring the isotope agent wasn't difficult but they encountered a lounge of geckos and they had to flee the area, drawing them to Nelson. Boone warned Derek about the Legions in the area and the team was stopped by Ranger Milo. Milo explained that there is a hostage situation going on and Derek offered to help. Milo said that the Legion has some soldiers crucified and that he would need to mercy kill them, lest fall into a Legion trap. Derek was less than willing to shoot his own men but accepted the mission while Boone muttered about getting the boys out. The team and Milo ambushed the Legion outpost over Nelson and Boone, Derek, and ED-E rushed in, taking out any legionnaires they see. Fortunately for the both of them, they were able free the NCR hostages rather than killing them, which Milo willingly accepted of being wrong. While walking away from Nelson, Boone explained to Derek that mercy killing was always expected for First Recon snipers and he always wondered if it's the right move. The conversation was cut short when they were ambushed by Legion assassins, further from the test site. After killing the last assassin, they found themselves near the Techatticup Mine where a soldier, Private Renolds asked them to save his comrades at the mine. After blasting through a cave full of Legion warriors, they were able to free the NCR prisoners and delivered the good news to Renolds. - Distractions:
Finally returning back to the test site, they gave the needed materials to Chris and headed to the launch panels as told by the group. Despite Derek's skepticism, the rockets were able to launch with minimal hiccups and the triumphant group returned to Novac. Manny was thrilled to hear that the mission was a success and explained that Benny and the Khans were heading towards Boulder City. If Derek hadn't expended all that energy, he would've made his way to the ruins of Boulder City but for now, he must rest. Before he went back to his room, he was encountered by a Ranger who gave him a walkie talkie, explaining that Derek has been doing some good things for the Republic and this would help him in his future endevours. - Back on Track:
Remembering about Boxcar's message, Derek uncovered the location of where the enslaved Powder Gangers are located from ED-E and the team went south of Novac. Thanks to ED-E's scouting, they know the size of the Legion forces (pretty small) at the raid camp. After a few well placed shots, the Legion guards were down and the team freed the convicts, who quickly fled the scene. Then they took out the rest of the Legion warriors at the camp with ease. Boone was angry that despite NCR's hold on the region, they weren't able to prevent Legion parties from operating west of the Colorado, the agreed border line between the Republic and the Legion. Boone begins to open up, explaining about how he tracked down the slaving party who kidnapped Carla down. He was planning on rescuing her but once he saw a large number of slavers, he knew that he didn't have enough rounds to stop all of them and the only thing he could do was to give Carla and their unborn child a mercy death. Boone believed that it was punishment for his role in the Bitter Spring Massacre but believed that the punishment is not yet over because he's still alive. - Booted:

Dealing with Carlos - Code:
-
Going around the Building of the Crimson Caravan Company, Brandon meets a guy named Chip who's wearing clothes that look very familiar to Brandon. Turns out that Chip got them from this guy called Carlos, the guy that raided his hideout in Primm. Chip hands the clothes to Brandon and tells him that he can find Carlos in North Vegas.
Carlos turns out to be a kinda mentally ill guy who really thinks that he is a NCR Ranger and really wants to demonstrate that to Brandon but fails miserably at it and gets killed by a group of fiends. On his corpse Brandon finds a note from wich he learns that Carlos had a Companion called Marty Stu, who turns out to have a similar disorder as Carlos. He also dies while trying to show Brandon what a cool NCR Ranger he is.
Brandon ended up with all of his stolen Courier's gear back and a new housing to the north of vegas.

| - Act 2, Chapter 1 - Exodus:
New Vegas was forever changed as the man in the Lucky 38, was indeed not so lucky. But the Courier who came back from the dead wasn't ready to take sides in any war, as both factions sent emissaries for her. While it seemed like she would favor the NCR, she really just wanted to go her own route, mind her own business.
2 weeks later, she would find herself signing up on the Happy Trails caravan company as a guard on their expedition to Zion. She wanted to return to her normal life and get out of the political nonsense each side tried dragging her into. And so they set off on the path to Zion.
They were ambushed and none apart from the Courier survived. Fortunately, she had a helping hand. A tribal who led her to his camp. There she met the infamous Burned Man, a legend around the Mojave. She helped him defend his tribe , the Dead Horses, from the invading White Legs tribe and in repayment, he offered her a map with an exit out of Zion.
There was a man there who was the leader of another tribe allied with them, the Sorrows. His name was Daniel. He wanted to start an exodus, leave Zion and start anew with the tribe. He asked her to help him evacuate, but she refused, helping Joshua Graham conquer the White Legs and defend their land.
The damage done to the White Legs was brutal and the Dead Horses became more warlike in nature in the years after, but the Ranger had made it out of Zion, and that's all she cared about. The White Legs had tried to kill her and for that, they deserved to perish.

| Chapter 5 - Making FiendsMoney was a bit tight as Derek learned after he purchased more ammunition at the Dino Bite Gift Shop. Although he pawned out some weapons salvaged from dead Legion assassins, the cash he kept in his pocket is running low and the Mojave Express doesn't seem to believe in worker's comp for their employees. He had made some caps prospecting and doing some contract work, but he'd need a stable source of income if he's going to stay in the Mojave (and to prepare for the eventual high cost of living and taxes that are the features of NCR annexation). Derek remembered downloading a holotape for his Pip-boy about a new bounty hunter firm near Primm. Since he had some military experience and Primm isn't too far of a travel away from Novac, perhaps he should take his chance at the firm. Inside the firm, Derek sees a masked man typing away at a typewriter, he must be either the secretary or the owner. The man greeted himself as Steven Randall of the bounty hunting firm, Randall and Associates. Randall asked if Derek is willing to join his firm to which he answered yes. That seems to be the extent of the interview process because Randall already gave him a job assignment, hunting down an ex-ranger turned deranged killer named Tom Quigley. According to Randall's sources, Quigley was last seen camping west of the Poseidon Gas Station, putting him in Fiend territory. Derek knew of Quigley's reputation prior to his discharge, he was a skilled marksman. Derek knows that if he tries to take on Quigley alone, he would probably be dead. Good thing he has a friend who served in the First Recon and would probably equal to Quigley in marksmanship. It didn't take much to convince Boone to join him for the bounty and the two men (and ED-E, Derek couldn't leave his eyebot behind) headed north. During the trip, they fought off against Legion assassins, interrupted a poor ambush attempt by the Vipers against a merchant, chatted with a guitarist, and rested at the 188. The 188 was not far from Boulder City so Derek decided to take a detour to the city of rubble as Manny told him that's where Benny and the Khans had gone to. When they entered Boulder City, they were stopped by Lieutenant Monroe who explained that there's a hostage situation between the military and the Khans as the Khans have two troopers captured. The military has superior firepower to the Khans but are unwilling to attack lest the Khans execute their comrades. Derek offered to negotiate wit the Khan leader to get the soldiers released, Monroe was hesitant but allowed him to take a stab at it, noting that negotiation might be the soldier's best chance of survival. Derek recognized the leader of the Khan group, Jessup, who was with Benny during the ambush. Jessup was surprised to see Derek alive and well and Derek asked what happened to Benny and the chip. Jessup answered that Benny doublecrossed him and the Khans are trapped. Derek said that the military isn't going to attack and suggested Jessup to free Private Gilbert and Wendy in exchange for safe passage out of Boulder City. Jessup pondered for a while and agreed to the proposal. Unfortunately, Lieutenant Monroe received new orders from McCarren to take out the Khans even though the two captured soldiers were let go. Derek pleaded with Monroe to honor the deal and the Lieutenant agreed. - Boulder City Showdown:
Fiend territory was near Camp McCarren and Derek remembered a bounty being put out for Cook-Cook, Violet, and Driver Nephi. The team agreed to hunt some of the Fiend leadership and get some additional cash for their bounties while on their way to take out Quigley. they quickly get to work, eliminating Cook Cook and Violet. Violet was posted at the Poseidon Gas Station, which meant that Quigley was near. Boone and Derek sneaked to the camp, knowing that any wrong move could cost them their lives. Luckily for them, Boone noticed Quigley fighting a bunch of Geckos, not noticing the two bounty hunters. Boone and Derek fired from their rifles and both confirmed Quigley's death. The duo got closer and, as proof of kill, Derek cut off one of Quigley's fingers. They brought the heads of Cook-Cook and Violet to Major Dhatri, who was all to happy to see one less Fiend causing trouble. Now they took on the assignment of taking out Driver Nephi. However, the team was ambushed by Fiends on their way to Driver Nephi's location and they attempted to find shelter in Vault 3, where they were introduced to more Fiends. Long story short, the caravan prisoners and the wounded Ranger Anderson were freed and all hostiles, including the Fiend leader Motor Runner, were dead. The team left Vault 3 after making sure the Fiends outside of the vault were gone and went on their way to assassinate Nephi. Dhatri was very happy to see Nephi's face and gave the duo good money for their effort. - Raider Hunting:
Derek brought Motor Runner's helmet to Colonel Hsu inside of the military base. The Colonel thanked him for his effort, noting that Motor Runner was very difficult to kill. Derek and Boone asked if Camp McCarran needs any assistance and Hsu said that the military base is in a tenuous position, intelligence leaks, thefts, and missing people. The veterans volunteered to tackle the problems, especially the intelligence leak and Hsu directed them to Captain Ronald Curtis who currently leads a task force against the intelligence leak. Ronald told them to speak with Sergeant Daniel Contreras and Lieutenant Carrie Boyd. On the way to speaking with Contreras, Derek found a tearful soldier who explained that the military had not recovered her husband's body near the RepConn HQ. Derek volunteered to recover the body of her husband to which the soldier expressed gratitude for. Contreras seems to know about the leaks and is only talking about doing some legwork while Boyd was interrogating a Legion prisoner during the investigation. Boyd's investigation is going nowhere and Derek offered to rough him up a bit as part of the good cop, bad cop routine. Boyd stated that unfortunately, NCR laws prevented such tactics from being used on prisoners of wars. However, that's only for active duty soldiers of the country; since Derek is no longer in the military and is just a contractor, he can skirt around the rule. Despite the plan for Derek to beat the Legion prisoner, Derek's insults seem to be more effective in the prisoner giving up information. Although Boyd was disappointed that she didn't see any physical actions, at least it would save the government some faces. After the interrogation, Derek asked Boyd if she'd seen any suspicious activities in the base and Boyd answered that she noticed some movements at a radio tower at midnight despite that not many individuals having clearance. She gave him the key for the investigation and Derek and Boone planned a stakeout near the tower. At around 1 am, Boone spotted Captain Curtis walking towards the tower and notified Derek. They silently followed the Captain and kept their distance to not arouse suspicion from Curtis. They sneaked into the door just in time to hear Curtis talking to the radio with plans of bombing the Monorail. Derek and Boone announced their presence to arrest Curtis but he took out his pistol to silence them. Unfortunately for him, Derek was too quick and a shot from his pistol killed Curtis. Derek cursed as he only wanted to injure him but there is no time to complain, he rummaged through Curtis's clothes to find any kind of code and the team rushed to the monorail to prevent the bomb from going off. Inputting the code, the bomb was disabled and the train was saved. Hsu thanked Derek and Boone for their effort (again) and gave Derek a Ranger safehouse key for the work he's done. - Helping Out at Camp McCarren:
Derek, Boone, and ED-E headed to the Repconn HQ to recover the body of the soldier's husband. After taking part in a firefight with the Fiends, they were able to bring the body to NCR line, who promised to transport the body back to California. Returning to Camp McCarran, Derek broke the news to the soldier who thanked him profusely. On their way to Randall and Associates, Boone talked about Bitter Springs and his regret there. Derek asked if he's open to visit the place but Boone was doubtful that anything good would come from it. Boone decided to rest at his room in Novac so Derek went with ED-E to Primm. Randall gave Derek some caps for delivering Quigley's finger and gave the next assignment of a caravan raider. Derek was to speak with Chesty, the only survivor of the caravan attack, at Boulder City. At Boulder City, Derek found a man in combat armor drinking away. Chesty gave him the coordinates to the caravan attack and there, he found the coordinates of the killer, or at least where his next target was. Thankfully, he wasn't too late and was able to stop the raider, looks like an Enclave officer by the looks of it. Returning back to Randall with the raider's finger, Derek was given the next assignment of hunting down a Fiend named Eileen, notorious for cutting off male genitals. Since she's in Fiend territory, Derek decided to bring Boone again to bolster their chances of success. When approaching Boone, he expressed interest in returning to Bitter Spring, having thought about it while resting. Derek agreed to make a stop for Bitter Springs at one point and Boone hoped that he's not making a mistake. - Some Bounty Hunting:

| 3: Back in the saddle - Spoiler:
-...So, you haven't remember his face at all? I barely remembered my own face when looked to the mirror for the fist time, and he's asking about stranger. Pff. -It was dark out there. John insisted on beginning searching for person who shoot me as soon as possible. However, it didn't stop him from drinking umpteenth glass of whickey; he didn't look totally drunk though. -Is there at least something you remember about him? -Checkered suit. -Not much. Do you think he's only one that wear this type of closing in Mojave? John obviously was very new to Nevada region. -Almost certainly. Heat was very strong, so I took vault suit that Doc gifted me and got rid of sleeves. Overall look of this suit reminded me about something - something that caused me to feel comfortable and scared at the same time. As if I got something important to me, but lost it... -It's late already. Shall we go to sleep? -Yup. Luckily, it was not far to go - only to second floor os Saloon. Trudy didn't mind that I asked her to dwell John with me in one room, though looked at him strangely. John's behaviour was a lot more modest than moment he met me outside after he got my problem with memory loss. Seem that he was afraid that I don't remember who he is. He was partially right. I knew who he is to me obviously, but I didn't remember much about him, aswell as about me. I desperately hoped that it's all temporary. We already managed to ask residents if they know anything about people who assaulted me. According to information we got, out path lies to Primm, town to the south of Goodsprings. Bad rumors were abiut this place - something about escaped convicts from nearby prison. I didn't really like idea of cheking if it's all true, and honectly I didn't really want to search for them at all. But John was very purposefull and refused to listen to any of my arguments. While he was my only hook to my past at that moment, it would be stupid to let him go alone. We entered the room. It was much more chill here than on first floor. -It's stuffy here, in this Mojave Wasteland, - John said. - Washington is much more breezy place. -Washington... - there wasn't much sense for me in this word. - Probably. -You don't remember, right? -Right. He got silent. This upset him a bit, though he didn't show it in any way. I just felt it. I understood why. For me, after my head was shattered, everything was like a pieces of glass that I tried to gather in one complete thing. But John remembers all about us. And most likely he didn't know what to do to it. -It's clear, - answered he. I sat on the bed. John hesitated to join me, probably afraid to do something inappropriate. It was obviously hard for him, and I felt sorry because of that. Finally he ventured to sit on the edge of the bed. -Should I sleep on the floor? - he asked again. This time he clealy just was mischievous. There was only one bed in the room and it was big enough to fit two humans without need to be too close to each other. -No. We didn't talk that night more. John waked me up early in the morning and didn't give much time to get ready to go. His rush made me feel so familiar annoyance and maked with to call him a donkey. Seems that I did it so many times before. Mojave met us with a dawn that promised to be hot and sunny day.

| - Act 2, Chapter 2 - Liar's Dice:
"Does she have a name?" asked the man opposite me.
"Yeah, but I thought it would be more interesting for me not to tell the name. Adds to the myth. Alright then, if you so wish. Her name was Blaire J. Romero, pretty tough name right?" I said.
"Carry on then." spoke the man once again.
And so I started telling the story again.
Romero spent the next week getting blackout drunk and gambling, often waking up drunk in a stranger's bed. She had gotten deep pockets in the past few jobs she'd been doing, enough to supply her unhealthy addictions of roulette, blackjack and scotch for a little while.
So one day, she's sitting, having drinks at the Gomorrah bar and she overhears some of the Omertas making jokes about business with the Legion. So she started to think, right? Think about working with the Legion for a bit, just a bit. They pay well and despite her long running hatred for them, she could always use them to better her own goals, right? Add that on to the fact that Caesar pardoned her and she's got an opportunity here.
The next day, she walks straight into the Legion base at Fortification Hill, no fear at all. She looks at the state of the area and how Caesar treats his people but swallows her pride and goes through with it nonetheless.
So he lays out his plan for what he wants her to do. He wanted her to go into a bunker in Fortificaction Hill that House had previously owned and destroy all the robots there, absolutely all of them. With her iron holstered and her pride in her back pocket, she took the job. How hard could it be?
And that's when she realized once she got to the bunker, she could easily trick Caesar into thinking the robot army was nothing but scrap but instead use that army for her own gain. She was the only one who had the platinum chip after all. And so she instead chose to upgrade the securitron army and not destroy it.
Caesar rewarded her and she walked outta there unscathed. She wasn't proud of it, but she'd had to do dozens of things she wasn't proud of recently. This was just the smarter kind of dishonorable, right?
Upon exiting the camp she also took it upon herself to mercy kill those the Legion had crucified. Only a monster would leave them in such agony.
She also took a few jobs here and there to gather up the money she'd spent on liquor and casinos. One of them was to get some data from Vault 22, a Vault infested with giant plants. She did her job and sold the data she got there.
But mostly she just wandered from place to place, doing odd jobs here and there. She did some reflecting on how she wanted to be, what she was. She wasn't proud of herself, but this path she was on found no end.

| 4: Investigation [1] - Spoiler:
Rumors about escaped convicts were true. We had warm "welcome from few of them on the streets of Primm; they wasn't real problem even for me, who lost most of skills in handling weapon recently. John was very good at coping with enemy and turned out to be confident with weapons. A lot more confident than usual wastelander... Is he military? Few bleak memories appeared in my head - Brotherhood of Steel, John's Knight token, Power armor... But they faded away quickly. After settling problem with convicts on the street, we visited Vicky and Vance. We were told that if we want find out anything about man in chekered suit we need to free sheriff's deputy who was captured by bandits that settled in nearby casino. Our way led to Bison Steve hotel. Corpse that lied straight on our way, atrracted John's attention. Seems that it was one of six couriers. -Shadd? -Huh? -Tell me please, are you capable to do anything that will not lead to someone trying to kill, rob, beat or screw you? -It's not that bad. -It is. Ugh. Well, he was right. -Just let's go, okay? -Pff. We entered hotel and met more badit just right away. It was much more convenient to shoot them here so John managed to desintegrate one of unlucky bastards pretty quickly. Bright green light hit to my head like a lighting; strong flashback immediately overtook my mind... ...To be continued.

| Chapter 6 - Bitter SpringsIt's only been a day since the last time Boone, Derek, and ED-E went to Fiend territory to take out the depraved leadership of the Fiends. The next target was no different and that comes with an added bonus of doing every men in the world a favor. According to Randall's sources, Eileen should at a small burned out building right next to the one Driver Nephi and his gangs were. Now when Derek was taking down Nephi, he did not noticed any woman coming out from that small building to engage the trio. It's possible that she was hiding or if she was out looking for victims during the assassination. They kept their distance from the burnt out building and Boone used his rifle to look for any movements. From his scope, he found a Fiend woman with a knife, some mutilated body parts, and a body of a soldier. Unfortunately, that soldier looks like he just died so there's no way for them to save him. Boone also looked around for any other hostiles. Luckily, there appears to be a minimal Fiend presence so they can flush her out. After killing Eileen, Boone alerted Derek to a sight of a charging man in a metal helmet equipped with a chainsaw. The trio fired their guns at the hostiled metal man and the blast from Derek's shotgun exploded the visitor's head. Derek found a note on the visitor's helmet and picked it up. Reading it, the man is revealed to be Motorhead, the brother of the late Motor Runner. The letter states that Derek was responsible for Motor Runner's death as revealed by Judge Richter. This Judge Richter seems like a mysterious figure, perhaps he'll ask Randall about this fella later. - Eileen:
The trio went towards Bitter Spring so Boone can revisit the event that scarred him. At the refugee camp, Boone explained about what happened at the Bitter Spring Massacre. They set up camp at Coyote Tail Ridge where Boone recalled that was where the detachment of the First Recon Battalion were set up. He was doubtful of this soul searching journey but he asked Derek if they could spend the night. Derek woke up a few hours later due to the panicked beeping of ED-E and he sees Boone holding his sniper rifle. Boone noticed movements and confirmed that a Legion raiding party is coming to the refugee camp. The trio quickly went forward to disrupt the raid. After the dust was settled, the Legion raid was repelled and no refugees were killed or captured. To the surprise of Derek, Boone was slightly disappointed, hoping that he would die fighting the Legion. Derek explained that he wouldn't let his friend die on his watch and that Boone's guilt was his punishment. Derek added that while he can't change the outcome of that massacre, he should use his regret to make good changes. That appeared to have calmed Boone's spirit, Boone said that he's happy that at least there's one less Legion raiding party. - I Forgot to Remember to Forget:
With his demon calmed and his outlook on life changed, Boone and Derek parted ways on amicable terms. Boone promised that he'll be there for Derek when needed but for now, he's returning to Novac and kill some slavers on the way. Derek decided to explore more of the refugee camp, having been deployed elsewhere in 2278 during the massacre. He noticed that the flag was flown upside down and asked the proprietor of the camp, Captain Gilles, about the state of the camp. Gilles answered that the camp needs reinforcement, is facing supply issues, and a serial killer is loose with someone turning up dead. So far, 8 refugees and 3 soldiers were killed. Gilles added that the Khans had supply caches in caves around the camp but she couldn't send any soldiers to secure the caches else the camp be understaffed. Derek promised to solve these problems and started with searching for the caves. In one of the caves, he found the culprit to the dead refugees, a Great Khan named Oscar. The Khan was still vengeful towards the Republic and its involvement in the Bitter Spring Massacre but Derek convinced him to move on and to be with his family at Red Rock Canyon, practically a promise of amnesty towards someone whom Gilles would want arrested. Surprisingly, Gilles was okay with Oscar just leaving despite referring to him as a son of a bitch during the briefing. Perhaps it was the guilt of her involvement in the massacre. Derek wasn't going to push it further and quickly changed the subject. He announced that he secured the supply caches, although one was radiated and would require some RadAways to make it safe for use. He was then directed towards Lieutenant Markland who is in need of medical books and doctor's bags. He gave Markland 3 bags and promised to be on a lookout for two specific books (which he was able to buy at the Crimson Caravan, also securing a deal for the Crimson Caravan to send spices and meat to Camp McCarran). At Camp McCarran, Colonel Hsu approved of Derek's request for reinforcements thanks to his effort while Boyd thanked him for finding proof of Contreras black market activities and gave him a Garand variant she confiscated off of Contreras not too long ago. At Camp Golf, Sergeant McCredie mentioned that he wouldn't be comfortable sending out reinforcements due to the state of the soldiers. He added that one unit in particular has some potentials but they're not working together. Derek offered to help them out as someone not in active duty and the Sergeant welcomed it as a potential change in tactics. The members of the specific unit gave their own solutions to shape up their units; Poindexter recommended changing the reports to give them a favorable review (McCredie would know something is up if that happens), Razz talked about using Pyschos to pump up the soldiers (too risky), O'Hanrahan proposed human niceness (Derek was sincerely hoping that the big guy was referring to cooperation and better communication), and Mags focused on guns and explosives training (he could help with the guns but explosives are hard no for him). Derek ultimately went with O'Hanrahan proposal and managed to get the squad working together. With that in mind, McCredie felt confident to send some troops to Bitter Spring. At Camp Forlorn Hope, Major Polanti accepted his request, adding that his actions at Nelson allowed the Major to free up troops. He did, however, mentioned that the camp still has problems and Derek (ever the good Samaritan), offered to fix the problems. He recovered the supplies from Helios One to Quartermaster Hayes, looked over the wounded in the medical tent, and found the culprit who was stealing chems from the medic. Once he returned to Bitter Springs, the camp is in a much better shape. - Helping Out Bitter Springs:
Returning back to Randall and Associates with Eileen's finger, Randall put him to another work. Due to the state of the war in the Mojave, the Jackals begin to reassert themselves under Cullen. Due to Cullen's effective leadership in an otherwise pathetic gang of raiders, killing him would break the Jackals again. As the Jackals are not far from the building, Derek went to the Nevada Highway Patrol Station, the base of operations for the Jackals. There, he killed Cullen and recovered his finger. Outside, he was met by a tall man angry that he was taking his bounties. Derek couldn't convince him to move on so the two men fought each other with Derek emerging unscathed. He found out that the man was a bounty hunter for a competing firm Richter and Associates lead by the same Judge Richter from the Motorhead letter. Perhaps another war is brewing in the Mojave. Back at the firm, Randall accepted Cullen's finger and gave the next assignment: a drug dealer named Tony Idaho who's biting into the profit margins of the Khans. After killing Idaho, he was given the bounty of Tommy, an Omertas thug who killed a made man and is on the run near the Horowitz Farmstead. On his way to the Farmstead, he found a dead bounty hunter with a stack of papers detailing bounties on three named raiders with ears collected for a Westside militiawoman named Maddie O'Doyle. He killed one near the New Vegas Medical Clinic terrorizing a pair of travelers. He killed another one and his gang of Vipers mercenaries at the Horowitz Farmstead and went straight for Tommy. Tommy was surprisingly prepared and after dueling gunfire, Derek was able to hit Tommy. On Tommy's desk lies a note by the same Judge Richter from before. There is without a doubt that this Judge Richter sees Randall and Associates as a threat and is no doubt getting his lackeys to off him. He returned to Randall and Randall gave him the next target of someone named Alex who's been terrorizing Freeside with his gang. - More Bounty Hunting:

| 5: Investigation [2] - Spoiler:
2277...Adams Air Force Base. Soon we'll take control on Air Control Tower and after Brotherhood evacuates our soldiers we'll turn remains of DC Enclave to dust. John should be somewhere nearby. There was a lot of shooting going on around - but I felt **that** shot with all my guts. They hit in him. I frantically searched for him - and found. He was lying on the ground, and mix of blood and acid green plasma abundantly flowed down from his abdomen. Wound was horrid, extremely deep and most likely fatal. Despite all I called emergency field medics for help. Crying out in tears, I still gave him two stimpaks. -I love you, Shadd... - whispered he with hoarse voice and smiled. -Stay with me, - I begged, - Don't leave me. -I... Will try. I kissed him. Thought that this kiss may be last in his life made me sick. He passed out from pain and blood loss. And I, while waiting for medics to take him, was lying on his chest, keeping arm on his neck, counting heartbeats and fearing that there may never be next one, more than dying myself... * * * * * 2281-Are you okay? John noticed that I almost blacked out. -Yes... He came closer and put his hand on my shoulder. It calmed me a bit. I want to remember who I am, but why all this begins from... This? Why my head reveals most painful ones from the start? Why the heck just not show me something pleasant for a while? Anyway, having him right here right now alive and healthy and feeling his light breath on my hair made me feel much better. -Lets go, - said I. We found Beagle pretty soon. We refused to talk until he reach Vikki and Vance - I can't say I blame him for that. Noone would be happy to chill and talk in place where thay was keeped as a captive. After returning to casino we got another surprise. Beagle still didn't want to share information until we find new sheriff for the town. And we had to serch for him in NCRCF. Great, juat great. -I can push him a bit to make talk if you want. -No, we can't do it. -But we can go straight to bandit's lair who felt taste of freedom? -We'll do a good job at a time for Primm. -I hope we'll not get something good in our poopers there also. -You told me about DC and there's is pure madness going on. We're survived and we still here. -You still have a lot of things to remember, baby. A lot.

| Chapter 7 - FreesideAccording to Randall's sources, the witness of Alex's attacks should be inside Freeside by the North entrance. The witness gave a description of Alex and mentioned that he should still be around. Alex and his goons showed when Derek was investigating his last scene of the crime and tried to kill Derek with their canes. They were all quickly downed by Derek's revolver. Collecting Alex's finger, he wondered why the Kings nor the bodyguards that offer service to travelers didn't notice a gang of fancy dressed masked men in Freeside terrorizing locals but chalked that up to the chaotic nature of the shithole. While Derek was inclined to leave Freeside and returned to Randall, he was just two blocks away from the Strip and finding Benny. He might as well do some odd jobs and confront Benny now before the checkered man bails again. First thing he did was to enter the Old Mormon Fort run by the Followers of the Apocalypse where he was greeted by Julie Farkas, who asked if he has any Med-X and RadAways to spare. Because Derek is a charitable fellow, he donated his supplies of Med-X (not like he has much use for them) but still kept some RadAways on him. He asked Julie about the state of Freeside and Julie said that the place is filled with problems. Chem addiction is high and violence between the locals and NCR squatters are turning the land inside out. To make the matters worse, the Followers are in need of supplies. He offered to help solve those problems and searched for two Followers aligned addicts in need of help. He found out that the addicts, Jacob Hoff and Bill Ronte, were supplied by a local drug dealer named Dixon who reveled in their suffering. He was inclined to plug Dixon with his gun but decided to instead threaten Dixon to stop supplying the chems to the two lest rumors would be spreading about Dixon being an NCR agent spreading drugs to keep Freeside down for the NCR to annex. Dixon quickly agreed to stop dealing in drugs to the two. Derek managed to convince Jacob and Bill to seek care for their troubles. Next, he entered the Mick and Ralphs in hopes that they could provide a constant supply to Old Mormon Fort. Unfortunately, Mick said that they can't provide that sort of consistent service but suggested other businesses, including the Atomic Wrangler Casino. The owner of the casino James and Francine Garret, agreed to provide supplies free of charge to the Followers in exchange for the Followers to fix their stills. The Garret twins also have jobs for Derek to take. James is looking for escorts to appease certain fetishes of his customers; a ghoul cowboy, a smooth talker boyfriend, and a sexbot (James is very insistent on that the sexbot is not for him) while Francine wants Santiago, Lady Jane, and Grecks to pay what they owe to the casino. He was able to get Santiago, Lady Jane, and Grecks to pay off their tabs and found Beatrice and Santiago (the same Santiago) to serve as escorts but still could not find a sexbot. He went to Mick for assistance and Mick tells him of an abandoned robot factory that could still have a working model and offer to sell a holotape that turns that robot into a sexbot. Derek agreed but had to wait a while for the tape to be ready (Mick said it's not everyday someone would come up to your store and purchase a holotape to transform the software of a robot to be a giant sex toy). Francine was happy that he got the caps from the three people and gave him the next assignment of haunting down Caleb McCaffery, a now former Atomic Wrangler employee who stole a large sum of money. According to Francine, Caleb should be at the Strip and Derek mentioned that he'll get to it once he's at the Strip. Derek returned to the Old Mormon Fort and gave the good news. While Julie wasn't too happy of the Garret Twins being the suppliers to the Followers, she nevertheless accepted their help. Derek then went to the King's School of Impersonation to meet the King, the leader of the Kings, a gang that enforces Freeside, in an effort to improve the conditions and to bring peace between the Kings and the NCR. The King first asked him to investigate a bodyguard named Orris who's been suspiciously getting a lot of repeat businesses. While Derek was more inclined to believe that Orris is just good at his job, he agreed to play as a rich tourist to learn about Orris's trade secret. So far, Orris seems to be good at his job as both the bodyguard and talking about Freeside's many establishments. However, Derek quickly found out that Orris pays thugs to feign attack to which he would put up a big show to trick customers into safety. Needless to say, he gained the King's trust from that investigation. The King's next job is to investigate a string of attacks on the locals, bringing him to Old Mormon Fort where three locals are being treated. Based on the description given by the locals, they were beaten by soldiers in civilian clothing. Giving the news to the King, the King wondered why they're in Freeside as they're usually content staying in the Strip and the investigation continued back to the Old Mormon Fort. Julie talked about a major in the NCR named Elizabeth Kieran who was originally trying to lead food relief effort to the people of Freeside and squatters but an incident drove the operation to only provide to NCR citizens instead of the locals. Julie gave information of where the operation took place and the missionaries who would give the password to enter the location. Disguising as a squatter, he approached a missionary who gave him three questions about NCR history to which he passed with flying colors (probably the first time he's happy for public education). At the location, he got in with the password and was able to speak to Major Kieran. Elizabeth was originally unwilling to divulge any information but relented after when Derek mentioned Julie. The Major explained that an envoy was sent to discuss food relief effort with the King but was beaten before he even set foot into the King's office. After the exchange, he gave the information to the King, who was confused about the whole incident. When news of his second-in-command, Pacer, taking a few Kings with him to storm a shop, the King put two and two together and ordered Derek to diffuse the situation and to tell the Major that he's willing to discuss the relief effort. Derek found Pacer's "attack" force to be in a sorry state with bodies of dead Kings lying on the floor while Pacer was cowering behind a bus stop. Over on the NCR side, no casualties were seen with the soldiers in non military uniforms keeping Pacer from leaving the bus stop with their guns. Guess a lowly street gang is no match for a trained army, even if that gang rules over and enforces the street. Derek put his hand up as a sign of surrender and head over to the NCR side. He managed to convince the Major to cease fire and that the King had nothing to do with Pacer's offenses. With the situation diffused, the King gave Derek a chance at a favor from the King as thanks for his contributions. Founding out that a significant time has passed since he asked Mick for the holotape, Derek returned to the Mick and Ralph to pick up the tape and head over to the abandoned factory. He uploaded the new programming routine and instructed FISTO to report to the Atomic Wrangler. James was happy to find out that Derek had returned with a functioning sexbot (for the customer, not for him of course as he made that clear) and gave him money for his trouble. With all of that out of the way, he paid the 2,000 cap fee and entered the Strip. After meeting Victor, he encountered Caleb and convinced him to just hand over the hat. Now that Caleb is "take care of," it's time for Derek to get that chip back from Benny. - Freeside Adventures:
