| Hi to everybody guys! So, with this first thread i want to share with you ,fallout fans, some of my thought about some fallout faction, starting with one of my favourite faction of all time: the broterhood of steel. I know that the BOS is one of the most appreciated faction in the fallout universe: big guns and power armor are a great selling point for many new player, like myself. I was introduced in the series with fallout 3 (a great experience back then) and i immediatly fell in love with this pseudo knightly order. And with the passion growing up in the years ( and starting discoverying the first fallouts lore) i like the faction even more. But why?: Because for me the brotherhood represents what fallout is about, remnanst of the past, surviving and even thrive in the post apocalyptic world, twisting they past self ( remnanst and ex-army man ) and making a new image ( knight order) more fitting in this new hopeless world, so much that after so many years they chain with the past almost completely vanished. Thinking about figure in robes, trying to understand technology now lost, power armor troops, calling them selves paladins and khight instead of adressing themselves by military grades, give me that dark ages feel that i like in the game ( insert metallic monks here to complete the picture). These are only my opinion. So, what do you like or not about this faction? Thank you for the interest! (p.s sorry for the bad english)

| What I like about them is that they aren't just the good guys that fight for everyone. They have a clear goal with securing technology and fighting off mutations of the wasteland but they are mostly focused on the greater good. They don't really care about civiliansĀ and have an elitist attitude which I can appreciate. You have to earn your membership there.
I like how different the Brotherhood can be and how different your first perception of them may be, depending on which game introduced you to them.
I also appreciate how FO76 of all games lets both directions of Oldschool BOS (Knight Shin) and more liberal saviors of the peopleĀ (Paladin Rahmani) clash, similar to Outcasts vs FO3 BOS.
What I don't like is the inconsistency in the rank system between the games, just makes no sense. _________________ |

| The Brotherhood really grew on me over the years. Fallout as a game has changed but I enjoy how the concept of the BOS has always stayed roughly the same. Like you said, they're pseudo knightly order in a post-apocalypse wasteland, and I've started to really like that concept.
The BOS in FO3 is definitely different - they go against previous BOS ideologies and it's clear that they're portrayed as the morally righteous faction in the story who can do no wrong, in my opinion there's no significant flaws in their faction simply because they are the 'good guys'. I'm not a huge fan of this depiction. But I do appreciate the consistency of that knightly order theme and that Bethesda do briefly explain that they are a 'rogue chapter' that got cut off because of the huge difference compared to the West Coast.
In New Vegas they clearly went for a more faithful depiction. The BOS are no longer the 'good guys that fight for everyone' like BloodySister explained and I love that. Not only is this chapter depicted more in depth but they have obvious flaws that the writers weren't scared to outline. I don't believe there's any 'accurate' way to depict the BOS because factions of people with different groups and leaders are always fluid and changing. But the difference is the portrayal of their ideology, they have a clear goal which isn't just righteousness with no flaws, it's securing tech, preserving their own people and in-turn preserving the future of mankind.
It's not like you can't make a 'good' faction, the BOS literally believes they are fighting for the greater good themselves. It's when you depict them as linear good guys that do no wrong and have no possible conflicts in their beliefs or actions that makes the faction feel lazy and uninteresting.
I absolutely love the big guns and the awesome power armor (which by the way I like how Fallout 4 improved physically) and the tech and clothing, but I also like an interesting backstory that makes you really think about what they stand for and isn't a always clear choice. Again I agree with BloodySister, I love their goals and how they're not just the good guys but a self-righteous group of elitists and zealots who believe they're fighting for the greater good even if it means some morally-grey decisions. I'm gonna try Dawn of Steel. The new BOS designs look amazing so I'm hopeful. |

| I really like the aesthetic of BOS but i hate them. They are elitist what i most hate they try to maintain order and only think about thenselves. They put me a bomb necklace and want to me trust them The Fo3 BOS are not the same but they mantain that militar/elitist type. |

Mostly in everygame try to show us that BOS are the good guys that they think in better greater for the rest of the wasteland. I can agree with the fact that synths are not human in fact they are dangerous (broken mask event) but in the path of the BOS to reach that better greater they kill and destroy everyrhing in their path. Psd. The Institute is a selfish like big mountain. |

In fiction is always great to see characters and factions to be in a shade of grey insted black or whity morally, for me is more akin to reality. I can affirm that i cannot hate or dislike brotherhood depiction in fallout 3 as good guys, but i like more the depiction of bos in the first fallout, new vegas and even fallout 4, even with their flaws. For a gaming prospective, fallout is to take a side, accepting the consequence of our choices, knowing the fact that no one have the universal right/good ideal and goals. In many ways the BOS is akin to that description. |

The Bomb necklace is the perfect picture of the trust that BOS put in the others that basically concist in everybody beside them XD When many years ago i play trough that part i immediatly think about the meme "well that escalated quickly" XD. Poor, poor courier XD |
