| Hi this is been bugging me for a while, but i've heard and read from alot of modders that running the game in "fake fullscreen" or "windowed fullscreen" mode improve performance. Unfortunately whenever i switch from fullscreen (which i get around 50 to 60fps with VSYNC on because otherwise i get alot of tearing) i am automatically capped at 30fps (no vsync).
I'm not sure why this happen (i don't recall having this problem before with other games on my older PC). Could it be because of my shitty laptop (NVIDIA 650GT M.....and Intel "HD" 4000 with Optimus). Is it because of Windows 8? or perhaps because my monitor is only capable of 60Hz?
i really need to know why because i'm saving up for a new PC/Laptop and i dont want this shit to happen again.

| Are we speaking specifically about Bethesda games or all games?
I'm assuming you mean games like Fallout/Skyrim. Which tools have you tried to enable fake/windowed fullscreen? _________________ - MY MODS & MODS I'VE CONTRIBUTED TO:

| That's really strange as the windowed full screen just puts the game in a windowed mode and locks it to the correct dimensions so that you can alt tab with an ENB. You shouldn't be losing any frames, that's strange. For clarification are you using this mod?? - Spoiler:

| I think the 30FPS cap would suggest that a vsync is running somewhere or other. Yes, I realise you've already said that no vsync is on, but remember that frame rate control can be altered in many different places. Your GPU will have vsync and OpenGL settings, skyrim/fallout launcher and ini has vsync settings, the stutter remover has its own FPS management in the ini, as do some of these windowed fullscreen programs, but not all. ENB is also capable of limiting FPS in the enblocal.ini or enbseries.ini depending on how old the binary is. Having more than one turned on, would produce undesired effects I would think. I'm not sure how they work in tandem. You may know all of this already, but I'm trying to cover all angles that I know of. You mentioned in another topic that if you turn off vsync you get a lot of screen tearing. I was getting the same thing too. Vsync was seemingly handled differently by all the aforementioned programs. My suggestion to you would be to turn off vsync and any kind of FPS limiter in all of the above mentioned programs, then, in the stutter remover's ini, make sure you set that to manage FPS and change the FPS values to: - Code:
-
fMaximumFPS = 60 fMinimumFPS = 20 I think by default the stutter remover caps at 30, so you'll need to do some investigating and double checking. _________________ - MY MODS & MODS I'VE CONTRIBUTED TO:

| it's not just bethesda games, and yea i already turn off vsync in everything (not running ENB or any shader injection), and still getting 30 or less fps. when i use to play skyrim on my older PC i always use the windowed fullscreen program and never really noticed any performance loss, but that was a tower PC not a Laptop (also ran windows 7 not |
