This has been in my mind for the past few days, what happened to the Chosen One from Fallout 2? Yes, i know he founded a new city along with the former inhabitants of Arroyo and Vault 13, but what happened after that? Is that it? A hero back to zero again? Fallout 2 events started at 2241, the wiki states when Fallout 2 starts, he's already 20 years old. That means by 2281 (The time New Vegas starts), he's already 60 years old. I doubt he would die young, what do you think did he do after the events of Fo2?

I think after he founded the city he retired with a wife and had some kids. After everything he did he probably felt it to be good just to take it easy for the rest of his life and just settle down.

That's really up to speculation. I don't believe they ever really alluded to what happened to him beyond. It's hard to say too with Bethesda messing with a lot of canon.

It is just like how Evmeister said "That's really up to speculation". Personally, I think that the chosen one would follow on the footsteps of his/her ancestor and just leave with no reason never to be seen again after helping build a new city for the Arroyo and Vault 13 residents.

that's why I love fallout, sure there is a cannon timeline there (or what Bethesda doesnt redcon or just choose to "forget" about)
but WE the players are the ones who can make the cannons and fit it all together as a community!

I have to replay fallout 2 again but just explore more. look for any clues or hints that are around that would lead to what happened to the chosen one.
its like for my personal head cannon (please disagree and/or debate what you think) the lone wonderer is actually the courier, as after F03 he traveled the wastes- and.. well on the east coast only really one way to go, west-
I guess he could have gone south towards Florida but... yea, we dont go to Florida- n e ways.
after a couple years made it to the mohave and ended up with a job as a couier, wanted an "easy life" after all the shat that happened in the Capitol Wasteland. welp... we know the rest how that ended up-

@TheCrimsonBuckr Okay mate, you got me, i've bitten the bait.

The Courier CAN'T be the Lone Wanderer by any means, due to 2 main events in the Fallout timeline, both taking place around the same time.

>The end of the main events of Fallout 3 base game being around late 2277. (that without taking into account the events of Broken Steel)

>(During the war between what was left in the west coast of the Enclave and the NCR) The delivery of a device with the Enclave symbol on it to Hopeville(at the time being annexed by the NCR) by the Courier at some point of 2277.  

Plus, there's several pieces of information about the Courier in the base game as well as in the DLCs that contradicts even further this conjecture, gonna list some.

-In Dead Money, it is implied that the Courier does not know what FEV is through their interaction with Elijah.
-Dialogue choices throughout Honest Hearts heavily imply that the Courier has never heard of Christianity, or at least the Mormon faith.
-It can be inferred during dialogue with Veronica Santangelo that the Courier does not know where they were born.
-In an Old World Blues ending slide it's stated that the Courier doesn't have any knowledge on communism.

Having said that, i don't see any problem about crafting your own character's backstory, that's lowkey one of NV's strenghts and the reason why so many people love the darn game, but it is this one 'fanon'/Theory specifically that grinds my gears.



On topic, there's one thing in NV that i can remember that could hint the Chosen One's fate, being the fact that Josh Sawyer(project director and lead designer) intially wanted the armored vault 13 jumpsuit to be stored in the wrecked highwayman (SouthEast Novac, near highway 95 Viper's encampment) but couldn't due to time restraints.

BUT he later did it when he released his unofficial patch, kinda like a "director's cut" the JSawyer mod, whether this was supposed to tell more about the past protagonist or to be just an easter egg, is beyond me.

According to the Wiki - he/she along with the Arroyo tribals and the Vault 13 dwellers, founded the city of New Arroyo and reunited the two bloodlines that had been separated for three generations. The village elder, pleased with the reunion, found peace and passed away a few months later, leaving the leadership of the village to the Chosen One.

With the combination of the vault dwellers' technical knowledge and the tribals' survival skills, New Arroyo thrived under the Chosen One's rule, and grew into a powerful civilization.


But I personally like to think of what happened to the Lone Wanderer of Fallout 3. His/her fate has been stated as unknown. But with Broken Steel - I'd like to think that he/she went down fighting beside Sarah Lyons.

Leading New Arroyo.

We don't know what becomes of New Arroyo in Fallout New Vegas. It's not really mentioned at all outside of character mentioning it offhand. It is still around though. NCR has expanded North and seems to control places like Redding and New Reno, but we don't know what the case is with Arroyo. Maybe it's still independent? Maybe it's a state or unincorporated territory, with the Chosen One as the Senator/governor. We don't know. What we do know as canon however, is that this is the image of the city Arroyo grows into;



Post war architecture, built from the ground up using the GECK to create the perfect site for it's construction. Judging by the look of the place, it's one of few (if not the only) cities in the Post-War world that can even compare with the scale and power of Shady Sands which is similarly a total post war construction. Considering Shady Sands is the heart of a nation, it speaks volumes for the success and prosperity of New Arroyo. We know for a fact that because of the GECK it has fertile land, likely some of the most prosperous in the post war world, able to support life and grow plants. It's people could live healthy, largely radiation free lives as a result of this. Arroyan cattle herds and sustainable crops would be the envy of NCR, and most likely the source of it's wealth and power.

If that's the case, the Chosen One is in control of either an economically powerful micronation or the most prosperous state in the NCR, which is in both cases the most well developed and well maintained society in the post-war world. So yeah, based on what we can tell from the story, and what we can infer from the facts, I'd say the Chosen One is doing just fine.

Well i believe that he still has the leadership position over new arroyo unless there was some kind of change to the election system ,i don't believe he's dead i just think that his days of glory are over and now he's focusing his time and energy on building his tribe.
