Question for the community Empty
PostSubject: Question for the community   Question for the community EmptyWed Feb 06, 2019 7:16 pm

Hi,

First of all - I don't want to offend anybody. It's just some observation, which can be totally subjective.

Recently I've posted a topic with request for help or advice. Some time have passed, and there's not a single answer.

Well, Ok. Not a big issue.

But then I looked through all of my topics and found several similar ones with plea for the help of the community. With no answers...

Some examples:

https://www.gunetwork.org/t18270-huge-problem-with-highly-modded-game-saves#313389

https://www.gunetwork.org/t17847-fo4-masculine-and-feminine-idle-stance-animation#308642

https://www.gunetwork.org/t16278-fo4-need-advice-on-faction-armour-replacement#289607

https://www.gunetwork.org/t15206-are-there-any-witcher-3-modders-here#274444

https://www.gunetwork.org/t15032-witcher-3-modding-making-diff-colour-for-w-gear#271544

And now I'm confused. I am starting to wandering, did I do something wrong? Or my first experience in GUN, when lots of people really tried to help their fellow modder with advice or action, was just the lucky time?

Or GUN community became more and more indifferent for each other?

'Ello

Idk man, i also have unanswered posts, but i don't take it to heart, either the people that saw the post doesn't care, doesn't have an answer or/and the people that has those didn't get to see the post because it got lost down the 'Latest topics' column, doesn't mean all the people around act the same and all of us don't care for each other, shit happens.

I've had the same experience on other forums, especially in regards to tech/mod related questions similar to the ones you've posted. Hell, I think I even had a couple posts like that on the old VGU that didn't gain any traction whatsoever.

I can't speak for everybody, but for me personally when I don't post on topics like that and ignore said topics it's usually because I can't answer the question being asked, so I just think to myself: "I'm not really needed here, surely somebody else who is a bit more knowledgeable and qualified than me will be able to answer."

Still sucks though when nobody responds to your post, especially when you're in desperate need of an answer, so I can totally understand the frustration.

@danbrother - I think we've all had unanswered posts (I have as well), I don't take it personal. I figure several reasons for it.

-someone who actually sees it before it dives off the front page;

1-doesn't have an answer
2-is hoping someone will step in who has more than a guess, which might be all they have
3-has limited time to spend on line in the GUN forum, because of work or school

I really don't think apathy is the problem....at least not from what I've seen since being here.

It only stays on the front page for so long and once it's off and in the general listing's there no way to 'bump' it back to the front page. I understand the reason for that as well. I remember seeing two of those posts and really didn't have an answer worth printing, so I thought an answer might be coming from others.

@danbrother Don't worry about it. Looking at your topics it is highly likely that people either didn't have the answer to your questions or didn't see your topic.

I personally am not playing any of the Fallout games at the moment and I just use the memory that I have when I was modding and playing them but if I would give advice on getting help on your topic with the broken mods, I suggest telling people how you installed the mods (manually or through a mod manager such as nexus/mod organizer2/bethesda/vortex).

You could post a topic with that information here or on another message board. From my memory I have never encountered an issue like that and more than likely the issue needs to be troubleshooted i.e. identify what is causing the issue by replicating the it so someone who is more knowledgeable can provide the solution.

As many has stated either your post was not seen or people who have seen it didn't have a answer.
Being a member of this forum for a few years now I can say just a out everyone on here are a good friendly bunch and wouldn't purposely just ignore you. If I can't answer a question I'm not going to post because I don't have a answer. Don't take it personally.

Hey man, welcome to GUN and dont worry you did nothing wrong. Like every one of my friends posted to this topic says, sometimes we don't have any answer or any idea how to fix some problems.
Everyone has unanswered posts, dont take it personally like Hoppyhead said.

Personally, I really like commenting on these topics because it feels really nice helping people out. My usual struggle is that some topics I really could not provide help because I have no knowledge on it. I've seen your posts here a couple of times in the past and honestly I could not provide an answer to any of it because the questions are usually something you can solve on your own by doing some research. Also, don't take it personally when people aren't responding to your posts because like I said not everybody can provide answers due to either lack of knowledge or time to do so.

And no, you didn't do anything wrong here. You don't sound mean to me either so there's that.

Friebds, thank you so much! You really helped a lot to fight off my frustration! It’s been several topics in the row, that is why I was so upset. But now I can see that Gun community is as friendly and helpful, as it showed itself since my first arrival here :-)

Good to be in one company with good people! :-)
