Does anyone know how to rename files in FNVedit, I am new to using FVNedit and would appreciate any help I could get.

If you are new with FNVEdit, I would recommend watching this guide by Gopher. If you have other questions about mods, chances are he has a in depth guide for the topic as he has a lot of guides on his YouTube channel.
Goodluck.

I already watched this video and it didn't answer my question, all I want to know is step by step how to change the esp/masters name and rename it to the right file for my comp patch and save it. I need to be able to change the file header to match the master that my comp patch needs to work. I just don't know what I need to press in FVNedit to change it to what I need.

In that case: Load up the file that is looking for the wrong master in FNVEdit > Open the header section of that mod > Under subject ''Master Files'' you see ''MAST - Filename'' > Select the esp/esm you want to change and click it again.
you will be able to change the masterfile name.
EDIT: Added some pics that might help.

Bleed is the master file and I want to rename that master file so that it works for my comp patch, I can't change the mast files because they are all correct it's just the file itself that is wrong. Bleed before it got updated was named Bleed - NV.esp but is now named BleedNV.esp and now my comp patch doesn't work because of it. How do I fix that. Sorry if this isn't really clear as I am not really good with FNVedit.

Then load up the mod that looks for ''Bleed - NV.esp'' in FNVEdit, open the header section of that mod and change ''Bleed - NV.esp'' to ''BleedNV.esp''. Don't forget to save.

Everytime I try do that it disables editing as it can not find Bleed - NV.esp and won't allow me to edit it my comp patch. is there any way to force the mod I need to fix to run anyway?

Download THIS file from the nexus. It's the Bleed - NV.esp FNVEdit can't find. Put it in your load order, then FNVedit will be able to load and edit the mod that needs it.

Just try to close FNVEdit, and before it closes down you will get prompted by the following message:

Make sure the files that you want to save are selected, if so press ''OK'' and FNVEdit will save the changes made.
Have fun dude!
EDIT: Oh and by the way, you don't need the old Bleed - NV.esp anymore, as you changed the master needed master file
