| So recently I've been doing a lot of looking around a adding new things, seeking out stuff I haven't seen before, testing out tweaks and additions and at some point I sat back and thought about it all. I've been jumping between both my long-running setup and modding up FNV on my girlfriend's laptop, trying to balance out great gameplay and interesting additions to the game with stability and convenience. She's commented frequently that she thinks I like having the ongoing project of fine-tuning her game for her, and it struck me then that...maybe I'm enjoying the modding of the game more than playing the game at this point?
I'm really curious if anyone else has started to feel this way. Is the act of adding things and fixing things, making it all work together in a compatible manner starting to BECOME the experience of Fallout more-so than the actual gameplay these days? Is it modding addiction? What're your guys' thoughts? |

| I was definitely starting to feel like that recently while building my mod list for my latest playthrough. I got to a point where i had to stop myself looking for more mods and just started playing. Modding definitely can have that "Just 1 more" problem sometimes _________________ |

Modding definitely can have that "Just 1 more" problem sometimes There's also so much new that comes out, and all the wondering if one mod is gonna be better than another one that essentially does the same thing/s. Do I browse by endorsements or do I go by most recently submitted? Am I looking for some utilities or just misc.? New armor? Animations? Heck, just this past month I got rid of all by the idle stances for Weapon Animation Replacer and instead adopted Asurah's pack, and spent over a week getting all the patches and fine-tuning for it. Bullpup rifles still don't have reload sounds for some reason @_@; |

And then you get the mentality of mods that didn't previously work for you, and you change up your load order and go right back like, "okay THIS TIME maybe this will work?" |

| Modding is always fun, but eventually I do sit down and play the game. And then I realize something is missing and we're back to it. |

| I've absolutely trashed savegames because I have a hard time not installing more and more mods in the middle of a playthrough. I know I shouldn't, but I just can't help adding more and more, even though it obviously leaves tons of playthroughts broken, and the cycle continues as I start a new one _________________ |

| @OverTheTop123Yes, I have that same issue! I have some main staples that I actually have to just write down sometime. I need like...a Normal and Lite version of my mod list. @ArcadesYeah, I do that pretty frequently and keep at it until it breaks. Thank god for Roleplayer's Alt Star too, because I've restarted this game so many times that I could recite all the spoken dialogue for the first two hours of the game word-for-word at this point. |

| It was at least half of the year I actually played last time. And it was about 3 years or maybe more I played more than 40 hours on one save. The more mods I made and more advanced my skills grown, the less I played. I would be so happy finally break this crap and go and play like a first time. Eh. |

| I had the same exact thing happen. I stopped being a regular mod developer for a non fallout/bethesda game and started playing other games. Then when I got a strong drive and passion to mod, I pretty much stopped playing altogether unless it was for bug-testing.
Guess it's like a "you can't have your cake and eat it too" type of thing. |

| I'll often find myself spending hours setting up an extensive mod-list and throwing in personal tweaks for a play-through, and then never actually playing through the game.
I wish I could make myself just sit down and play for once |

| In my earlier days of modding, its 90% modding and 10% gaming. Today I just mod it for days to weeks then play the rest of the way. I don't bother updating some of the mods anymore and I don't look around very often for mods to install or remove them midway. I guess its a 10% modding and 90% gaming now. I think I have to thank playing on a console again for breaking me out of that hole I was in because I've quite accustomed again to playing games for what the developers intended them to be. Real good stuff these days. |

| Seems like a lot of us are facing the dilemma of modding addiction vs gameplay, because we're interested in getting the "best" game experience we can. |

| Nothing quite like spending weeks perfecting a load order, testing compatiblity, building patches and so on until you eventually achieve a modded load order that plays perfectly;and than some genius goes ahead and releases a new mod that peaks your interest and you go back and rebuild your load order around the new mod. _________________ |

Or a mod you're using gets a major update, and you have to go through THAT process. |
