| So the process that gave some deathclaws the ability to talk -- does anyone think it could have worked on other animals in the wasteland? Was there something unique about deathclaws, perhaps they were already smarter than dogs and just needed a little more boost? I mean, I have no idea what anyone would want with a talking brahmin, but I suppose it would be a useful test subject, easier to control than a smart deathclaw gone rogue. Lakelurks sure look like they should be talking candidates if anything would be in the wasteland.

| I don't know why Bethesda didn't bring back the talking deathclaws from fallout 2, but I can assume the Enclave thought it was a dumb idea to give abominations a mind of their own, still it would have been cool though, but a talking dog would be silly, I want intelligent super mutants again instead of stupid orcs in the East coast "hahaha, you hit like a radroach" |

| IIRC the intelligent deathclaws were exterminated by the Enclave back in Fallout 2. It is possible that 2 of these deathclaws survived(Goris and Xarn) depending on the actions of the Chosen One. I would like to see Goris again in a future Fallout game. I kinda miss the guy _________________ Will there be enough Dakka? |

| I think there's a talking deathclaw in the monster mod additions for new vegas. I haven't tried it yet, though. Tholdrin or something. |

| I don't know how canon you take tactics as, but it also had highly intelligent deathclaws that, iirc, evolved naturally. This would seem to imply that they innately have the ability, and that the experimentation by the Enclave (I think FEV was involved but I forget, been too long since FO2) simply brought out their ability, similar to how Super Mutants are basically just humans at peak potential. Assuming this is all correct, then it's probably impossible to give any other animals the ability to talk, as they simply don't have the potential to begin with (although I think one of the robo-dog companions did in fallout 2 anyways.) |

| Yeah, technically a super-intelligent dog wouldn't be able to talk, or would be very limited in vocabulary due to its vocal chords. A gorilla that can learn a few sign language signs still can't speak them out loud. Deathclaws look like nothing from the real world, so the writers are freer to speculate on their biology and capabilities. A mutant parrot? Honestly it's possible, although it would end up being silly I'm sure. Take a look at the face of a lakelurk. They're very weirdly human-ish looking.

| Most likely not, i think because the deatclaws were being specially engineered we can assume they were pretty intelligent creatures anyway. Maybe we could get a future talking deathclaw though. Since in fo3 the enclave experimented on deathclaws again its possible something similar could have happened, or hint that Zetans altered a deathclaw somehow. I want a talking gatorclaw though. Talks about Mut-oranges and sunshine, a publix chicken tender sub. Welcome to Florida. |
