| Hey y'all. I'm lookin for a good book to read/listen to, and I was wondering if anyone's got a favorite that I've missed so far? I've read LOTR multiple times over and more recently I've been listening to the "Wheel of Time" series on audible (I'm three books in but I'm waiting for my next credit bc book four is FIFTY FUCKIN DOLLARS). Ive got three Brandon Sanderson books on the "read later" shelf, but from what little I've read of "Arcanum Unbounded" I'm hesitant to work my way through the rest even though I've heard that they're fantastic. Also on the shelf is "The Infernal City" by Greg Keyes which I picked up because of my interest in TES books, but I'm also hesitant on that one because of the way it's written. Anyway, discuss. _________________ Be wary, or become a lonely boy. |

| HI mate, i would recommend you the first 3 books of the dark tower, the 1rst is average but 2 gets a lot better and 3 is good, they are written by stephen king so you know the charachters are going to be well written. some people say that you start with the second one because its the best but the first one is a nice journey and also is kinda short so you wont take long before you get to the big boy.
if you havent read the hobbit its pretty good too, honestly i like it more than LOTR. |

| Do those Brandon Sanderson books happen to be the Stormlight Archive books? Because I recommend that trilogy highly! _________________ |

| I started reading the Witcher series lately mostly to try to get an understanding of the world outside of the video games, but it's actually surprised me at how good they are, even though they're translated from Polish to English meaning that there could be errors and losses in translations. _________________ |

| I quite liked the Dark Tower series as well. And for the whole five pages I read, The Lion, The Witch, and The Wardrobe was pretty good. _________________ Cursed be the ground, for our sake. | If you happen to be a Star Wars fan, the old republic era storylines have a more fantasy feel. Currently I'm reading the Darth Bane trilogy, very cool if you enjoy the Sith. Also you might check out, Star Wars: Lost Tribe of the Sith: The Collected Stories. This one deals with a Sith mining vessel crashing on a somewhat primitive world where the local populace believe in and worship the 'Skyborn'. so naturally there's a bit of colonization type contact here where the Sith are believed to be gods. It's worth noting that this particular series spans roughly 2000 years, so a lot is covered. |

| I've been reading Gotrek and Felix. It's a series from the Warhammer Fantasy universe. They're really good books that gives you a good first person view into that world. It's helpful for people like me who first came into contact with Warhammer via Total War. _________________ |

| I seriously loved the Inheritance Cycle by Christopher Paolini, and the Halo series of books, specifically The Fall of Reach and Ghosts of Onyx. _________________ |

| There’s this series written by Steven erikson that’s pretty damn brutal *insert meme pic here*. Very fantastical, but also very dark. I think one book in the series had this ragtag horde of cannibals or some shit invading a town/city, quite a bit of fucked up stuff happened that I’m not going to spoil here.
There’s also a slightly less brutal book series by some Canadian author who is also a medieval re-enactor that seemingly (I think) factors in historical facts on knighthood, like that kneeling in front of your sword/armor on an altar all night thing... MILES CAMERON! That’s it.
The books in that series tend to be somewhere in the range of 500++ pages or so. If I remember correctly the type wasn’t particularly large either. The first book of his I picked up was an odd one; the pages seemed to be of slightly different sizes. The last one I picked up was more uniform though. I think the title of the first book is The Red Knight. |

| Dunno if it counts as fantasy, more like a mix of "mythic-science fiction", but the Horus Heresy series is my favourite. _________________ |

| The Witcher is truly superb fantasy series. Medieval, dark and Slavic Once you reach 3rd one you cant stop reading. Sapkowski also wrote amazing fantasy non-witcher like trilogy called Hussite Trilogy though i am not sure if it was translated to English. But if you speak Polish, German, Russian, Italian, Czeh or Spanish you should go for it. Its very very good. For unusual kind of fantasy anything by Neil Gaiman should do (my favorite American Gods and Neverwhere). |
