Does anyone know if there's a mod that replaces the battle music? I've yet to find anything and I really want something other than Fallout's music.

Digital Nightmare is pretty good regarding the battle music aspect you want. It may not be lore friendly but that doesn't mean it's no good by any means. Another would have to be Existence 2.0 it adds a really gloomy and dark feeling atmosphere to the game. The funny thing is that this mod feels better in fallout 3 than in new vegas but it's still their non the less.

What you could do is download one of the custom radio mods of nexus and then put your battle music or music to suit the theme of your game for example when i play skyrim i use some of these songs (seen in video) on the custom radio
custom radio mod can be found here http://www.nexusmods.com/newvegas/mods/34999/?

I also like Existence 2.0. Great atmospheric music. However, I still think I prefer the radio as I blast through mutants and raiders, lol.

Actually you can just replace them with... well, whatever you want. Data\Music\"BTTL" <-this folder
There are eight folders in "BTTL" folder, Evil1~4 and Good1~4; each folder has about four or five mp3 files. You can pick your musics and rename them, then replace the original FONV battle musics.
Hope this may help.

I've actually tried doing this but I don't understand the "Good" and "Evil" sound folders.

Going to second the Digital Nightmare recommendation. Battle music really gets your heart pumping, and overall makes the wasteland feel a lot darker.

Thanks for the recommendations everyone! I'm going to try out Digital Nightmare I actually really like how it sounds, don't know why I've been neglecting it before.

You can also try putting in your own music through the G.E.C.K.
I had made a small explanation about it in another post, I'll put it on here if your interested it in trying it yourself.

I love music modding my Fallout games, it was much easier in 3 but NV made it really confusing, although its not as tough as you might think. I'm no expert on music modding but i know my fair share, if someone knows more then I do please feel free to correct or expand on this.
First do NOT replace the music in "Music" folder of fallout your gonna have a bad time. The best option is to add them into the G.E.C.K under Audio - Media Set.
From there you hit new and this window will pop-up.
from there you pick what you want it to be a Location, Battle, Dungeon, or Incidental. [ I haven't used Incidental myself I mainly use the first 3 ]
When you pick battle music you'll have more options on that window.
Hit intro to pick the battle song you want, hit outro for the way you want to song to end when the battle is over [ by either defeating the enemy or getting away from the outro song will play ]
I never messed with looping so I can't help with that one.
If you pick location you'll get this window.
Now from here is where you pick what song plays when you reach a location and where in that location you are hence " Outer " "Middle" "Inner". However if you only want 1 song to play instead of 3 only check outer for Day and Night and pick the same song for both .. or two different songs if you want different tunes for day and night. The game will play only the "Outer" no matter where you are in the location you set it.
next is the Dungeon and this is pretty much explains itself...
as usual click the button to pick the song for the option on it
Explore - When your exploring the dungeon
Suspense - when the enemy is looking for you
Intro - the small tune that plays when your spotted in the dungeon [ I ignore this option ]
Battle - Battle song while in a dungeon
Outro - I'm not sure if its outro for battle or leaving the dungeon i never used this option.
and finally under the audio tab pick " Media Location Controller " from here is where you pick where your songs go... for example if you want to play in a Military site pick " MusctrlGnrcMilitary" you'll get this window.
from here you pick where you want your custom songs to go.
I mostly use the first 2 options Battle and Location
In the battle list right click and hit add and it will bring up a list of songs, pick the your custom song that you made earlier to add it to the list, do the same for location.
And thats it your music will randomly play from the playlist set for battle and location on the area its assigned to.
However there is one very annoying issue. Say pick the controller for the music the plays one of the areas of the Mojave Wasteland. Since alot of the music in NV fits in many places it also used for areas that are not the wasteland.. like someone's house for example.
So while the default music for NV fits your custom music will most likely not. So you'll have to track down what song plays where and remove it from the list. Example you'll have Legend of Zelda Death Mountain music playing in someone's shack.
How I do it is using the "Use Info" by right clicking one of the controllers, it'll show all markers being used for it, you'll have to remove the inappropriate locations and make a new controller for them. For example I usually make a media controller that has songs that will fit all NPCs homes, I track down all the NPC homes using music meant for exploring and switch to my custom controller.
I know its very annoying, but you have a lot more controller now over where music plays at the price of more work.
I'm currently working on music modding my own game though I'm hoping to find out how to assign music to play during scripted events [ example when the Behemoth attacks for the first time by GNR Radio Station, Encounter Enclave, or when you talk to your companions in New Vegas for the first time or during important events in their quests. ]
Anyway I can go further in-depth into what I know and what I'm learning in music modding if your interested in doing it yourself.

I'm actually very interested in learning how to do music modding, thank you for sharing this. I'm going to give this a try and add some song files.

Alright I'm back from work and I'm ready to expand on my last post.
I got a question recently about the saved esp not playing the music they set for it.
First of all when you save the esp file from the G.E.C.K it doesn't automatically check it in the load order, check your mod manager and make sure its checked.
Also sometimes the music won't play in the places you thought they would the best way to find where you want the music to play is by going to the cell list.
Cell View:
Using 188 is an example, double click it on the cell view. on the list right beside it look for the audio marker. [ You can click any item on the list and then hit " A " on the keybroad until you come across the audio marker ]
Cell Edit:
On the new window click on the Audiomarker tab and then audiomarker dialog.
Audiomarker dailog:
Once here you can see the what media controller that area/cell is using, you can also replace it with your own media controller if you want to completely change it up, just hit the little arrow to bring down the list, and search for your newly made one if you wish to use your own.
If you want the basics more professionally explained I'll include this link for the GECK Wiki which talks about music and the G.E.C.K it helped me out a great deal.

Any question please ask away, I'll be happy to help to the best of my ability.
