| Was catching up with an old friend of mine earlier today and we were talking about what got us in to computer games and how that eventually progressed in to an almost obsession with modding them. For me, it started with TES 3: Morrowind. I knew nothing of computer gaming and had no interest in trying anything outside of my PS2. One morning while on the way to school my buddy began describing what Morrowind was and even offered to loan me his copy of the game. I said what the hell, tried it out and was initially unimpressed, that is, until I discovered what modding was. Once I found out the almost infinite possibilities of what could be done....it was a wrap. Fast forward to couple years....I had lost interest in CPU games for a while b/c my rig was a toaster and could barely run flash games on high settings at a playable framerate, until I was given a new PC along with a copy of Fallout 3....and oh boy was the fire back fam. I remember installing everything I could get my grubby little paws on. I'd actually spend more time hunting for mods than actually playing. Of course it crashed every 15 mins, but I still had a helluva time b/c of the ungodly amount of personal customization that mods offered. That same passion and love has carried over through all these years with various games...hell, I still get giddy when I hear about a new title dropping that's mod friendly. *Prays for Andromeda Mods* I'd love to hear what got my fellow Gunners into modding and gimme some details...I have some free time _________________ "Unique stuff is the treasure burrowed between shit" -Luka |

| mostly Skyrim, I had watched playthroughs like that of sorcererDave and Gopher who had modded games, The thought of extra content in skyrim that could make it more interesting for me (as I wasn't incredibly pleased with it in it's vanilla state) made me excited and it just so happened that the complete edition was on sale on steam for 4.99. I sold a few items from my TF2 backpack and literally seconds before the sale ended I had managed to earn exactly enough to buy it. Later that year I would buy FNV, Oblivion, Morrowind, and F03 and the rest is history. I fell in love with mods, modding, and the modding community right away, but I wanted something closer, something more tight-nit. Skip forward four years and an Alchestbreach vid brings me here, and suddenly, I'm even more smitten.

| @FoVet20 I feel your pain! I had a laptop as well. It was a Dell Latitude D630....I tried to run Oblivion on it....had to use the tweak called "Oldblivion" and still only managed 25 fps. I still modded the crap out of it though. Also, the channel on YT that really got me into modding FO3 was called DarkFireGaming..He unfortunately stopped releasing videos. I've seen your work as well! Definitely gonna try out that Viking Pack for my playthrough of Nuka World. @Screw4ff You're a member of the Gopher Horde as well!? lol. Watching his channel is what really got me in to actually taking my time and really immersing myself in to games. I'm actually watching his New Vegas Let's Play as I type this lol. _________________ "Unique stuff is the treasure burrowed between shit" -Luka

| I was playing Fallout 3 when I found the 20th century weapons mods, and the rest is history. _________________ You're a funny guy Sully, that's why I'm gonna kill you last. -Arnold Schwarzenegger

| Back in the Fallout 3 days I was on Xbox 360, being the Halo fan I was and still partly am I saw the mods for Master Chief Armour and then I searched for mods and started watching AlChestBreach. I loved the mods and desperately wanted them. Anyway, once I became a full PC gamer I thought I'd buy the game again and mod it.
Pure joy. |

| I got into it in early high school when my girlfriend at the time was sharing screenshots of her Skyrim game on PC. It really caught my eye and it kick started my interest in mods and reintroduced me to PC gaming. Now I'm here. _________________ "I am not existing, nor am I lifeless." |

| I can't quite remember. It was so long ago... all I can remember is that it was during '06/'07 during the release of Oblivion's creation kit. _________________ |

| This is interesting, I'm seeing that Fallout and The Elder Scrolls are mainly what got people in to modding.
Anyone have an games other than Bethesda titles that got them in to modding?

| Yeah, i mod ARMA 3, Shogun 2, Mount and Blade Warband, Napoleonic wars, Rising storm/red orchestra 2, Gmod, SFM, Men of War Assault Squad 2 ive been modding since i was 11-10 years old first all i did was retextures now i moved on to modelling and such.
Well by saying modding i ment, i make mods and both use mods at the same time.
I started using mods when i first played Medal of Honor, i forgot what i think it was the first one i had a fascination for the German army in WWII so i had to ask the internet provider (serriously lol) to install it for me, then from there i started getting interested in mods at that time i was 8-9 years old. then i moved on to Mount and Blade, i had a lot of fun with the mods there. and soon Mount and Blade Warband i played so many mods i don't even remember lol, but after mount and blade i started playing more games that is mod-able and eventually i became a modder myself and both mod user
i played skyrim with mods which was the first thing that got me into skyrim and both fallout. then i play ARMA 2/ ARMA 3 / Shogun2/ Men of War AS1-2/ Napoleonic wars and rising storm, gmod, sfm with mods whilst at the same time i make mods for them as well. |

| @RikugunTaisaDancho That's quite the lineup! I myself mod GTA SA/4/5, State of Decay, Saint's Row, MGS V, Dying Light, Dragon Age, etc... I know a tad bit about creating mod, but never took the time to sit down and really get in to it. I can tweak a few things here and there, but I'm not good enough to create content that I'm comfortable with releasing. That's pretty dope that you were interested at such a young age too...I wish I knew how to texture at 10/11 years old. I would have had a field day with Morrowind lol. _________________ "Unique stuff is the treasure burrowed between shit" -Luka |

| I actually got into it while I was a freshman in college. I was looking for a game that can be played over and over again without getting sick of it. I had looked for a lot of games, but nothing got my attention that much. Until of course I found Fallout New Vegas. At first, I didn't like how New Vegas looked. It looked really old to me, but then when I checked the steam page I was surprised with the user reviews and so I gave it a shot. I did not regret that decision - Spoiler:

| I remember playing Fallout 3 and NV on Xbox 360. Went to a friends house who had a gaming computer and was playing Fallout 3 with the Fook mod and Marts Mutant mod. I remember seeing how awesome the game was with all new armor, guns, creatures.....etc and how boring the vanilla game was for me on the 360. Once I got a good PC never really played Fallout 3 or New Vegas on the console ever again. |

| Isn't it amazing how Bethesda seems to be the company that really revolutionized what it means to own their games on PC? That is why they will forever be my favorite developers... All hail Todd Howard! _________________ "Unique stuff is the treasure burrowed between shit" -Luka |

| Fallout wasn't my first go at modding. I use to dabble a lot with Star Wars Empire at War, but when I picked up New Vegas on my first PC build, it was definitely the game that made want to do more than change just the damage values, or ship sizes.
The only problem I had was figuring what I wanted to create. There were already far better re-balance mods than anything I could come up with, so I started to notice some of the crazy race mods people came up with for Fallout, and Skyrim at the time. However I thought New Vegas needed a more unique one, and that lead me down the learning curve needed to complete my first public project. _________________ “We can only see a short distance ahead, but we can see plenty there that needs to be done.” - Alan Turning

| I played vanilla Fallout 3 and New Vegas through before I got into modding. Then I didn't own these games, borrowed Fallout 3 from my friend and got NV by other means.
When I found Nexus I just though man all these mods makes vanilla game look like garbage. Have not looked back since. _________________ Walking down an unknown road |

| The modding is ..... life.
Not seriously, it allows to add everything that the developer will never have time to add.
The mods allow to evolve to infinity the experience and the desire to play and replay to the Fallout.
Finally, with good modders, you buy a game ........ it's like you bought ten. _________________ |
