I decided to start playing FNV again, I loaded the game through MO and started a new playthrough. After a while I found that I was being followed by the exclamation marks that you'd usually see when missing a mesh, but I don't understand what mesh would be constantly following me around. Anyone have any ideas?

What mods do you have installed?  Have you tried verifying the integrity of game cache on Steam?
Also, you could try opening the console in-game, clicking the exclamation mark and typing disable.

Seems like your sprint scipt in your load order drops a thing or invisible thing on the ground ( maybe to mark where you ended running ) (this might be done to prevent crashes or your mod might have corrupted)
In any case it's referencing something which does not have a mesh/texture , try contacting the spring mod developer itself ( or PN if that's what your using ) and state your problems in depth like with this video ( I suggest doing some extra testing to be sure ) and then making another video displaying it clearer if possible.
If he does not know what it is then you should consider reinstalling the mod.

must be something in your load order i guess,you tried a merged patch with mo? otherwise open console,click on that mark and type disable

u can also try a clean save, disable that mod,load up your game,new save,quit game and reenable the mod,i´m using also animation project and no probs so far
