I am looking for a Porter who can use 3ds Max and convert .3ds files to Nif for these armors

I also know this is a folder made by another modeler so i don't know how they are arranged ( i say this to avoid some problems that happened before with another helper) since i don't own 3ds max and can't figure it out.

Max to .3DS, .3DS to nif.

Any version of 3DS Max will be fine, and you'll only need Blender 2.49b, additionally.

but i don't know how to do it that's the point
and they are already in .3ds...but how can i port them as playable armor?

You can convert .3ds directly to .nif in Nifskope actually.

Import > 3ds, select your files, apply the correct textures, save as nif. From there import them into Blender, which is where the rigging/etc will be done. Obviously that last step entails a great deal of work, but I just wanted to be clear that you can do the conversion in Nifskope.

how can i apply the texrture? and how do ii rig? is there a tutorial anywhere?

Tons of tutorials on the Nexus for rigging and making custom weapons, and videos on Youtube as well.

As for how to add textures in Nifskope? There are 2 ways: one if you meshes already have a NiTexturingProperty, and another if they do not.

If the mesh has a NiTexturingProperty, click the + to expand it and then right-click NiSourceTexture. Click Texture > Choose as seen in this screen and navigate to your mesh's textures:


If the mesh does NOT have a NiTexturingProperty, add one by right clicking on the mesh in the 3D area, Node > Attach Property. In the list that comes up, look for NITEXTURINGPROPERTY, and click it. You'll need to do this for each separate piece of your mesh, here are screens for visual reference:


Once you add the NiTexturingProperty, click it to expand, then right-click NiSourcetexture. Texture > Add Base Texture. From there navigate to your mesh's textures and select the correct ones for each part.
