| So, I just purchased a copy of the Necronomicon by "Simon" today. I previously started to read Lovecraft's work after playing the Dragonborn DLC for Skyrim, because of the obvious connections and allusions to his work; both in Apocrypha and Solstheim. Just wondering, are there any fellow Lovecraft fans here on the GUN? If so, what's your favorite book by him or any game related to his work, say Call of Cthulhu? _________________ |

| I'm aware of the works, games, and all the tropes, but it just never sucked me in. I have tried reading one of the comics, (The Strange Adventures of H.P. Lovecraft) but I don't think I would include that as real Lovecraft. Whenever I hear two people talking about The King in Yellow it sounds like they're trying to figure out mysteries that will never be solved. I also noticed, everyone dies or goes crazy, and there are no happy endings, even in the tabletop game of Call of Cthulhu. _________________ "The street finds its own uses for things." ~ William Gibson, Burning Chrome

| I' ve mostly have red his short stories.i have a couple paperbacks with compilations. My favorite is the horror at red hook. Although i don't like the racist undertones if you dig a little bit deeper. Good story though. |

| For a Lovecraft story with similarities to reminiscent of Apocrypha, (lurking beings tending to endless knowledge with danger behind every page), look for The Shadow Out of Time (you can find it on Dagonbytes). For me, I always enjoyed the majority of his work. The Colour Out of Space struck me through its inclusion of a community and their trials rather than the more typical lone survivor. |

That's been a challenge for me as well, separating the author from his times. While racism isn't overly prevalent in most of Lovecraft's works, even a single apple can spoil a barrel. That's one reason I grew less inclined to follow Orson Scott Card. Well, that and the thematic recycling. |

| I love Lovecraft! My wife bought me a book with most of his popular stories in it as a surprise! Besides the obvious Call of Cthulhu, I like the Shadow over innsmouth. I like seeing refrences to his mythology in popular culture. I like watching "Lovecraftian" movies like In the Mouth of madness is a great Lovecraft like movie. _________________ |

It's largely based on "Shadow over Innsmouth" and is a decent movie on its own. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dagon_(film) It is always a treat to find Lovecraft in random places. One of my favorites occurred in TES IV, when I stumbled across an insular town of Argonian-sacrificing cultists. :-)

| Aww, Lovecraft absolutely. I love his short stories and like to read one every now and again when I'm bored or tired. There's one I've been trying to find the name of where a man about to die enters a weird world every time he sleeps, in this world there are all kinds of weird things and one day, when he dies in his sleep he is consumed by bliss and a bright light. Its one of the best I've read, but I don't think its a part of his Dream Cycle series, though I may be wrong. _________________ "Sheogorath is already inside each of us. You have already lost." |

| I love Lovecraft. I have all of the Omnibus' and around 10 early pulp paperbacks as well as some Miskatonic University merchandise. I've read pretty much everything he wrote, aside from his letters. |

| Well, i have not read muuch from Lovecraft, but i loved almost everything. Can't exactly tell why.
Lots of short histories only, but some that i can say i liked are The Dreams in the Witch House, Imprisoned with the Pharaohs and maybe Mountains of Madness. That one about the walls of Eryx is good too. I think i like his style as much as Stephen King hehe _________________ |

Imprisoned with the Pharaohs is also great, and if I'm not mistaken, it's set in my home state of Western Australia, probably because Lovecraft knew that Australia is the oldest continent with the oldest deserts on the planet. |

| Despite having known of his work for a long time, I've barely read a thing of his! Mostly just know of his influence, such as the death metal band Morbid Angel who have drawn many an inspiration from his writings. Main brain and guitarist Trey took up "Azagthoth" the blind idiot god as his surname ;P \m/ _________________ "From the uncertainties the god-mind knows and from the nothingness all the wines flow..."
