The last DLC released a month ago and Fallout 4's first anniversary is coming up, so I'd like to hear your thoughts on FO4 as a whole. I made another thread asking about all the DLC, but this thread is for Fallout 4 as a complete package with DLC included.

What are you glad they changed, what changes did you dislike? What should they change, keep, and revert in future games? Did the voiced protagonist and arguably more involved back-story enhance or detract from your experience? Was the settlement system worth

Did the DLC meet expectations? Did they expand the base story in meaningful ways or add memorable locations? Are they necessary and will they be held in high regard like Old World Blues?

Is "good game, bad Fallout" just a meme, or does it hold meaning? Is it a "good game, good Fallout," "bad game, bad Fallout," does it even matter?

It's probably stupid to try to fit such a broad topic into one thread, but I thought now was a good time to talk about Fallout 4 as a whole experience. Answering just one of these questions is fine, I haven't even formulated some of my own answers yet.

I fail to differentiate between "discussing my thoughts on the DLC" and "discussing my thoughts on the game +dlc as a whole" This is almost like singing row row row your boat...in rounds

@"OSOK" Now that the "whole game" is out, I thought it was time to revisit what people thought about Fallout 4 in general, not just the DLC. Fallout 4 wasn't exactly received as well as past Fallout games and I know a lot of people, myself included, hoped that the DLC would fix some of the major problems. There have also been swathes of patches that fixed some game-breaking bugs. I should have been more clear in the OP, but I have a bunch of friends who haven't touched the game since November/December and wanted to gauge just how much FO4 has changed.

Also, asking a new question in an old thread, from my experience, tends to get less traffic than just posting a new thread so that's what I did.

@OSOK I don't see the problem. Talking about the DLCs is a big part of Fallout 4, but doesn't represent the base game itself. So, you can have two different conversations.

@Dreceratops As for my thoughts on Fallout 4, I'll say this. I personally think it's a great game! I love exploring the map, encountering the various enemies, and all the weapons you can get. With that said...it was a bit of a disappointment as a Fallout game. DLCs and all. I felt Far Harbor added alot, and Automatron and Nuka World were good and defiantly had their high points. However they had their downsides.

Here are the things I liked. I liked the new workbench system, I really like the new legendary enemies and items(I hope Bethesda keeps that concept for future games.), I liked the Commonwealth as a whole and even months later are finding new locations, and I liked all the various factions.

What I didn't like. The speech systems was ruined, the lack of interesting clothing and armor to wear, the story seemed a bit linear and full of plot holes, the endings for each faction almost basically being the same, and the radio host got on my nerves.

As for the voice protagonist, I liked the idea and really the actors they got aren't bad. However I do want to point out that the male voice(Nate) can really ham it up sometime. I feel like sometimes he is either trying too hard or not taking it seriously. The woman voice(Nora) on the other hand does a fantastic job and knows when to be subtle and when to be over the top.

All in all, Fallout 4 in my opinion is not a perfect game. However it is a great game and I'm sure I'll be playing it alot from here on out. I know I didn't speak about the DLCs much, but really there's not much to say. I loved Far Harbor, thought Automatron was just okay, and Nuka World was decent. Vault Tech's DLC was boring and I'm not sure contraptions were necessary. But, that's just my opinion.

Lacking. Compared to NV and FO3 And Skyrim its lacking so much. Think of what skyrim added Crossbows, 2 Huge worlds with tons of side quests and shit and FO3 and NV had like 4 or 5 dlc's all of them where quest dlcs But with FO4 there was 3 that was quests Only 2 had new lands and 3 where it was just the Workshop.... WORKSHOP FOR A ROLEPLAYING GAME ? seriously what where they thinking ? Whatever ill just stick with new vegas for the next 7 years till the next FO game comes out.
