Alright, so I might be late or not, but I'm watching out for those with a console here so bear with me. Apparently this video shows a modder bricking consoles in response to his mods being stolen off nexus and onto Beth.net. I don't know if it's a prank or not, but it was on the Bethesda Mods page, so please do be careful.
Feel free to discuss below as well. As a console user, this mod fiasco is getting a little too ridiculous.

WOW but yeah DDPRODUCTIONS has been awesome in building mods, and has taken alot of heat lately from posters on Bethesda.net, but it really doesnt seem to bother him at all.
Still it is crazy, people are wanting to steal PC mods, so the PC modders are now working on ways to brick the Xbox, sad that it has come to this really...
Seems like mods will become even more exclusive, or Bethesda.net will actually have to moderate its mods now in the interest of preserving peoples consoles... oh, and the integrity of peoples mods whether or not the poster is the actual creator and all that..

Just like on PC it seems the console community is full of people wanting to steal other peoples's hard work, I wish it would end but that seems almost impossible like with hydra, cut off one head two more shall take its place

If only the solution was as easily solved with a simple shotgun pump and "good lets find two more"

Indeed if the solution was that easy then mod theft would not be a problem

Well, if someone is willing to give me address' and a license to kill I can get PLENTY of ammo...
But yeah... me and some friends made an ODST mod for fallout 3 a long time ago. The ODST Armors were modeled from scratch. It was posted and I had no problem with it, and then people started stealing it and saying it was theirs or posting it on other websites to. Now naturally I posted it on the original Fallout Underground Network that was the grandparent to GUN.
But people were really bitchy and insulting in addition to stealing it...
and they told me simply thus,
"Ha ha, if you dont want your mods taken you shouldnt put it in a place where people can take it"
So lesson learned from me and most of what I do is just for myself.

man that sucks, how is it people can be so toxic? I just can't fathom their behaviour at all well I'm glad the gunetwork does exist its a place where most thieves are driven away, as working to get approved would be too hard work for those scumbags but even still mod theft is still a problem here like it is everywhere else but I think as a whole the gunetwork is one of the most secure sites for modders .

Mod theft won't go away anytime soon,it's been a thing way before the consoles had access and with still be a thing after it goes away. Funny how up till now people didn't make a much of a fuss, but now people are yelling and doing some illgal shit like DDPRODUCTIONS has been doing or at least accused of doing. With the amount of theft's on pc daily you would think open pc modding would be dead by now if people were as upset at it as they are now,any time i talk about this i get more upset by the odd justification people have for the hate and i feel the need to just step away from gaming all together.
To end on a positive note i am glad this site is here, one of the only mod forums that shows how great this side of the gaming community can be,also if i come off rude i don't mean to be

Just to try to shed a little light on what DD was doing here. He has been very stressed and upset about people stealing his mods, and the lack of response from Bethesda. He made a separate video explaining that he had found a way to brick a console with a Fallout 4 mod. He also said that he would not be doing that to people with his mods. He also warned that if he could figure out to do it, other people could figure out how to do it and they might not be hesitant about uploading that. Also, in the video the OP posts, he had uploaded it privately to test it on his own console, so it was not public. So XB1 players can rest a little easy on that one, but do still be careful and do your research on the mods that you're downloading for your console. I'll leave the other video by DDProductions here if you're interested in watching it.

Well largely the reason why it is drawing so much attention is that because people expect more from Bethesda.net as a moderating agency, that almost quite literally is not doing anything other than saying fillout a DMLA and we will get to it when we feel like it.
The overall lack of professionalism on Bethesda.net, the gloating of the mod thieves as they brag about stealing them and upload it to the Official site of Bethesda.net and often bragging about stealing the mods in the descriptions of said uploaded mod. That blatent description of theft and Bethesda still opts to do nothing is what has got people angry.

That's no excuse for the hate on innocent people or trying to damage someone else s hardware, the attitude of some are just as toxic as the people who are stealing mods. So far i've only seen a few people be level headed enough not to lash out at the wrong people.

The funny thing is that DD was just fucking with people. He just cut the power to the console. He didn't run any bricking DRM. He is trolling people as he usually does.

There is a way to detect whether the mod is running on a console. So if a mod author really, for whatever reason, didn't want their mod to be played on a console, they could just detect if it's on a console, and, if it is, disable the mod.

Are you referring to the Chronophage mod? In that case, yes it was him.

No need to worry guys, he didn't brick his console, just pulled the power cord out with his feet. He more than likely won't publicly release a brick method or even a severe crash method, as it could be seriously abused.

Honestly as others have said before I doubt that he actually bricked his console. Crashing a console, sure but completely rendering it unplayable seems like something that would take much more effort.

@rojok2: While baking your hardware is practically impossible with the number of safeguards, I can come up with a script that will grind your game down to a halt fairly easily while being perfectly fine on PC. It's not particularly hard.
