You need a steam account owning F4 to upload mods on Bethesda.net now, should reduce the number of stolen mods. |

| Yes !! I knew Bethesda won't let its' community down ! It may not be perfect, but at least, they are trying really hard to reduce the number of Grand Theft Mods X) _________________ I've come here to chew bubblegum and mod Fallout ! And I'm all out of bubblegum ! My mods : - Fallout New Vegas:

I do hope this will be he case. however unless there is some serious downsides for them uploading stolen content I don't think it will stem the tide of stolen assets, at least for awhile. (meaning there isn't as many mods for the consoles and such has a vacuum of mods this sucks up all the possible mods from elsewhere be it authorized or not. In time when the mods start to fill out the game like it does in the PC world I believe the theft will start to slow down and more equal what is going on on the PC side. ) _________________ |

| It's a step in the right direction. So I wonder if those that are illegally uploading will have their steam accounts banned from Beth Net if proven that they're doing it. If so, how long?
I am glad they listened though, because I remember Elianora suggesting the Steam thing. |

I am glad they listened though, because I remember Elianora suggesting the Steam thing. I don't believe they really can and if they can they would. However... there is nothing to say that they can't perhaps block the user from accessing the BethGECK and being able to upload or perhaps even create mods for that game. See not allowing them access to the game .. through Steam can cause problems even if they legally could. The public outcry could be bad. Not that they would side with those stealing but that it could be used to point the finger that Besthesda is throwing their weight around and can do this to anyone. Now blocking their access to using the tools to upload (through verification of their Steam account) is quite a different thing. They still can play the game, use mods and such just not do the single thing that they did wrong. That in my opinion would be the best course of action. In order for them to do it again... they would have to get another game through Steam installed _________________ |

| Yeah I agree and that's what I meant just ban/blocking their Steam ID from opening an account at Beth net. The rub is now they have to cash cows to not piss off. The console gamers that now have access to mods and the modding community that are making those mods and extending the life of their games.
Also, I noticed the other day, Fallout 4 isn't the only game getting the console mod treatment. I noticed there's one up for Skyrim as well. |

| Glad Bethesda's taking measures to resolve this whole debacle. I wish they had implemented this kind of security from the start, but I suppose this console modding system is a work in progress. Regardless, good on them! Hopefully this is just the first step in added insurance against mod theft. _________________ |

Skyrim will be up when it is released this October I believe. Sorry that I misunderstood your post. I think all they have to do is be honorable and work with the communities that create mods and the problems will works itself out. Many mod authors likely won't mind having their mods uploaded for the consoles if they upload their mods on Beth net. After all it is just a click to do so. Most authors want their works to be enjoyed by users when they release the mod. What they don't want is their works to be abused. Being honorable and working with the community would help this greatly. There will be stolen content. One can't get away from this in modding. The problem as I see it is how Beth net (and any other mod site ) handles the stolen asset claims that makes the difference. If serious cases of theft is confirmed blocking their Steam ID from opening an account there would be a fair way to help stem the tide of stolen assets. _________________ |
