Would you prefer Obsidian or Bethesda to develop the next Fallout game? Also where would you like to see the game take place? I personally would like to see Bethesda give it another shot, despite how things turned out with Fallout 4 I think they have the potential to bounce back and make the (almost) perfect Fallout game. As for where it takes place New York would be really cool to see, all the broken down skyscrapers and more urban combat sounds like a really fun concept. What do you guys think?

I would rather opt with Obsidian as they have shown that they can adequately adhere to an established lore. I also enjoyed Obsidian's take on the series by allowing for vastly different endings in comparison to the choices afforded to the player in Fallout 3 and Fallout 4. Fallout 4 felt like Fallout 3 2.0, which isn't inherently bad at all, however it isn't necessarily groundbreaking either. I would really like to see what Obsidian can do with the series and the upgraded engine (I wish they could abandon it).

As for a location, I would really like to see a fallout game based in the Northern United States. Cities such as Seattle, Detroit (so many Corvega Factories), and New York would be terrific.

I would really want to see more of Obsidian's work, since Fallout New Vegas is easily the best Fallout of the 3D-era in my opinion, with only 18 months in development and content cut off to make up for consoles.

I'd like to see what it would be like if they released a all-new "big" Fallout title. A sequel to New Vegas is also something I'd really want to wish for, but considering the ending of New Vegas it would be really hard in terms of continuity, almost impossible even.

I'd also like it to take place in the Western deserts, they just feel like the Fallout-equilevant of home at this point in the series, and it gives the games a nice color palette, since in Fallout 3 and 4 it's pretty much grey-ish everywhere.

I could probably rant more but yeah, I really want more Obsidian.

Oh, and I want my RPG elements back. For weapon building I'd prefer a simpler approach, like similar to Dead Rising 2. That way weapon mods wouldn't feel out of place as much and a complex system wouldn't disencourage modders.

@"Eetterinakki" Can't argue that Obsidian did an amazing job with New Vegas, They no improved upon what Fallout 3 did and didn't have and made it their own game and more, I guess the inner optimist in me would want to see Bethesda knock their next sequel out of the park, But realistically speaking I do think Obsidian would make the better fallout game.

My main complain about New Vegas is that it felt... Strangely cluttered with useless location...

While the Mojave is still huge, there was not THAT much memorable locations, unlike Fallout 3 !

There was ; Minefield, Dave's Republic, Temple of Union, Dunwich building, the churches all around the wasteland... Hell, even some lame-ass dungeons like Evergreen Miles were more interesting than say, Black Montain !

I reaaaaaally hope that, If Obsidian is making the next Fallout, they will improve on that...

Oh god yes, imagine if bethesda actually collaborated with obsidian and they made a game together. I'm talking obsidian quests with the quest gems that bethesda can also occasionally make, obsidian taking care of the setting, but Bethesda doing the world building. It'd be perfect.

Obsidian hands down, i lost my trust with Bethesda after they messed up Fallout 4 and i am never buying another Fallout game if it is made by Bethesda again. Bethesda clearly messed up Fallout 4 and downgraded the shit out of that game, removing everything that made it a Fallout game, Obsidian listens to what the fans want and try to make a game like Fallout the RPG that is meant to be, just look at Fallout New Vegas. Everyone must of have put a ton of hours into that game, while Fallout 3 was amazing and it is the game that introduced me to the Fallout series, everything that New Vegas did was 100 times better than 3. So my vote is hands down Obsidian.

I guess I'm the odd man out and would like to see a new company make an attempt at Fallout. However If Bethesda doesn't pull all the bullshit they did with Obsidian and all that bonus bull shit, then I'd be willing to see them have another go. It needs new lore though. I've mentioned this one a couple times but really think they should do something like this

Obsidian for sure. Fallout 4 was a travesty designed to sell copies to the masses with no regard to the actual franchise. The voiced character, leveling system, leveled loot system, and disregard for pre-established lore alone shows that to Bethesda, Fallout is just Skyrim with guns. Obsidian on the other hand, in only ONE YEAR managed to create a game that honors the franchise and created a game with actual good writing, story, and setting. Obsidian is made up of people who not only have a history for the franchise but also make damn good RPGs. Bethesda doesn't seem to get Fallout, they seem to only understand the wacky 50's aspect as well as gratuitous violence. Obsidian in New Vegas on the other hand managed to fit in all the central themes to the Fallout universe and had a far superior story that wasn't just a good vs. evil thing. Even the world of NV was better, I don't understand what people say that Fallout 3's setting had a better "atmosphere", copied and pasted metros? An implausible settlement of children that would get run over in an hour by the mutants next door? A wasteland that looks like the bombs dropped 20 years ago when in reality it was 200? New Vegas' map not only is a small-scale replica of the actual Mojave Desert, but is also populated by far more interesting factions and manages to replicate the Western atmosphere very well. Just watch these videos by Josh Sawyer, who actually cares about the games he's making unlike lyin' Todd Howard who just lies and feeds candy to gamers that eat up his bullshit. (They're super long I don't actually expect you to watch them, just shows what kind of guy Josh is and how he cares about game design especially in a series where he's only made one game)




As for next location, I'd like to explore the Southwest a little bit more and see the NCR vs. Legion story resolved. I actually want to see the Legion's territory. In NV, many NPC's like Cass and that Trader in Fortification Hill talked about how safe Caesar's lands are despite him being a tyrant and we never got to explore that. The Legion territory would be a really interesting place to explore. Other than that, Florida would be pretty cool, so many options like swamps, forests, Disneyland, old Spanish Forts. So would California to see a thriving NCR.

I am usually a Bethesda fanboy but honestly, give it to Obsidian. Atleast they probably wont cut the sea monster quest along with other great stuff. Also im sure they will give more endings to the ones that there are in Fallout 4 and probably as a guy stated above New York which will be an awesome location.

You know what, i would love to see a Fallout game set in Nebraska, North or South Dakota or even Alabama, now that is a State that would interest me.

I hope Obsidian is given another attempt at the license. They've proven what they can acheive in short time constraints, and have a passions for the series.

I kind of hope the next version could be set in the Great Lakes region around Detroit.

Great Lakes around Detroit would definitely be interesting. I wouldn't mind Arizona as well, that would be pretty cool since Legion have massive control over Arizona, would love to see the Legion again.

You can see the passion that man had for the game he was helping to create. Reminds me of the Assassins Creed games before they got so mainstream and dull. The locations and the atmosphere was so...rich I guess you could say. But I have to agree that best case scenario would be Obsidian working on the next fallout game, or Bethesda teaming up with them. ( which I highly doubt would happen )

Obsidian because NV had great many endings you could be pure fucking evil or an angel hell in NV on hardcore you could kill your companions if you wanted to the big reason i want obsidian is that i think they would release more story dlc i mean skyrim had two story dlc and came out one year after NV which had 4 story dlc, and what i loved about NV dlc is they all tied together to lead up to lonesome road which i thought was badass. so my pick is Obsidian for next fallout game

Tick-tock cycle seems to work best between Obsidian and Bethesda. Leave it to Bethesda to bring the technology forward, then let Obsidian work their magic into the technology.

Honestly I'm with @dazzerfong. I think Bethesda should develop the technology, some of the mechanics, and then let Obsidian create the world and bring forth the story.

As for where, I'd have to say New York as well. Or possibly LA? We heard alot about California and LA in New Vegas. So, perhaps expand on that.

San Francisco? It did survive and was in the Fallout 2.

The NCR was established east of the city so certainly in the purview of featuring the NCR and San Francisco. Are the Shi still a dominant power? What about the church of Scientology? Boy wouldn't that be a fun one though. Alcatraz, Golden Gate Bridge, The Presidio, Fairmont, Coit Tower, Lombard Street, Pier 39.

I would have to say Obsidian purely from what I have seen and played:

I played and enjoyed Fallout 3, but eventually got bored
I played and Loved New Vegas, and played it up until Fallout 4 came out
I played and enjoyed Fallout 4, but eventually got bored
I'm now back to playing New Vegas

Obsidian made New Vegas, it's a no brainer for me

Another fallout made by Obsidian would be treat (assuming they are given enough time to develop). The only cave-at to that though is I heard one of the top writers unfortunatly left the studio.

As for location? Give some love to your northern brothers, you annexed us, might as well come visit us once in awhile.
